Roger Stone deserves a new trial

With his sentencing this week, “agent provocateur” Roger Stone finally provoked himself into prison. However, his latest “performance art” may be nowhere near its conclusion. That is not because he has a “very good chance of exoneration,” as President Trump himself predicted. Stone has about the same chance of exoneration as he does of canonization.
Rather, it is not clear that Stone received a fair trial due to alleged juror bias or, even if his trial is now finished, whether it will become undone by a presidential pardon. If nothing else, one thing should be clear. Stone holds a far greater claim to a new trial than to a presidential pardon.

I am totally confused. I see a one sided justice system. This man is being convicted for something that others (democrats) have done and they were NEVER indicted. The judge is tainted and should be removed from the bench because she shows her political bias. The jury lied and should also be indicted. God help each and every one of us if he does not get a new trial.

Stone should have a new trial based on the statement from the Judge saying he was covering for the President, prejudging the case for a new trail by saying the jury was fair & the excessive force used to serve him a warrant. Wow, I didn't realize Trump was on trial. The Judge also placed Manafort in solitary confinement & she will be the judge in charge of hearing the case of the firing of McCabe by the JD. The federal judges know they can say & do anything because they are appointed for life.

What the Stone case has shown is that the judiciary in this country is out of control. It has become so blatantly partisan that most times we know the outcome of the trial before it begins and the radical leftist judges never disappoint. This gal has not only disgraced herself, her profession but has single-handedly exposed the inability of many democrat appointed judges to be fair.
Allow me to go off on a mini-rant by saying that democrat women are particularly partisan and will wield any tool at their disposal to be vindictive. Those sitting on the bench will bring their political bias into the courtroom without fear of reprimand. When they do this they abandon their oath of office and central tenet of jurisprudence when they use the bench as a battlefield against anyone who opposes them politically. It is a disgrace. What floors me is the lack of pushback against this blatant abuse of power. Legal scholars should make some noise about this unprofessional behavior because she is destroying the trust the American people have in our legal system. Relieve a couple of these judges of their positions and we may see much less politicking from the bench. If anyone deserves it she does and more importantly justice demands it.

The criminal FISA requests should automatically undo all that happened because of them.

The judicial system has been weaponized by the left. Political dogma supersedes rule of law now. A new trial for Roger Stone is not only appropriate, but, necessary. And dim heads should roll during the new trial. But, first put this judge out to pasture and get somebody else. And charge and try the jury foreman for perjury.

He’s not going to get one, at least not from this judge. Why would she sentence him before deciding his motion? Judges almost never make rulings when they don’t have to. If she was inclined to grant a new trial, it would have gotten her off the hook over the sentencing controversy.

Forget it, Jonathan Turkey.
0bama appointee Amy Berman is a committed America-hating leftist - - who will never give an inch in pursuing the destruction of our country. She sees Roger Stone as just a means of punishing and humiliating the USA - - and she's not going to bypass such a juicy opportunity.

Stone should have the charges dropped. Stone did nothing wrong.

If a judge committed a crime, can charges be brought against them? Can they be tried and convicted? Can they be sent to jail?

Turley is a decent man, trying to do right, but this time he just hasn't got there. Nothing about the indictment, arrest, or trial of Roger Stone has been fair or even legitimate. Stone is something of a screwball, granted, but that is NOT considered to be a crime in this country. This is clearly part of the whole Mueller-Weismann Stasi investigation of Trump which is UNDENIABLY purely political, and no doubt, terribly illegal. If this man is denied appeal or a new trial and Trump fails to pardon him it would be the UTMOST injustice. Sorry Jonathan, back off a few feet and look again at what you have rationalized in some of your statements here. What happens when every prosecution and trial in the country of a Trump supporter gets to be like this one, all excused in the name of decorum?

I think that Roger Stone should be retried, but not for the reason most are postulating. His conviction should be overturned because he clearly had incompetent counsel. If his legal team was so inept as to allow Tomeka Hart on his jury when her biases were all over social media, he was definitely ill served. Even prospective employers will investigate a job seekers social media profile as part of the vetting process.

Give Judge Jackson credit for one thing: she has singlehandedly demonstrated the need for an amendment to the Federal Court jurisdiction and venue statute. Dissolving the DC Circuit, or at least mandating a change of venue as a matter of right upon motion of a defendant, should be job one of the new Republican majority in the House of Representatives in 2021.

Yes he does, and the judge and jury foreperson both deserve to be disbarred for their flaunting of their disobedience/ignoring of the law. But then they are democrats, and I think the judge is an Obamabot. Trump would do well to conduct all future trials anywhere but DC. Because the TDS prevents an honest and unbiased jury pool.
I have suspicions that a new trial would expose all thecorruption and the railroading by the democrats in charge of this farce.

Heck, yes. I am betting that the Appeals Court will order a new trial, and hopefully in a different venue, and CERTAINLY with a different judge.
