A military defense company in Israeli released video this week that shows off a new laser weapon that it has developed that is able to shoot down small drones, which are increasing terror threat in many parts of the world. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems announced on Thursday that it had conducted the first live demonstrations of its new Drone Dome-L counter-unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS) system which features an “integrated hard-kill high energy laser effector.” “The system achieved 100% success in all test scenarios,” the company said in a statement. “Drone Dome is designed to address threats posed by hostile drones both in military and civilian sites, offering advanced solutions for

Very cool.
Ray guns are here. Next we need the hand held models, and more power. Always more power.

Cool video...
Never forget, God has a Covenant promise with Israel. He is still Sovereign.
Soon, a laser drone will be able to this too, no doubt...

We have them too. I would assume that it fries the delicate electronics and the cameras rather than shooting them down but that's just as effective. The wrecks on the ground seemed reasonably intact rather than blasted apart. Fascinating.

Yeah, this drone thing is getting old. Even on the civilian side of it, too many of these dam things buzzing around town. Justice is served from time to time, however. When we were in Kuaui last year, watched some guy lose a very expensive drone in the fog in Waimea Canyon. He lost radio contact with it, it's auto-return feature didn't work, he and never saw it again. {chuckle}

The Palestinians countered this by announcing major advances in rock throwing and ululating.

Demo rigged with targets with almost no evasive maneuvering. I wonder how many incremental revisions it will take before the system can keep the ray fixed on a target that is doing more than nearly-stationary hovering.
In fairness, the first viable models of new kinds of weaponry tend to be rudimentary, though. Through progressive enhancements it will almost certainly become much more capable than this.

This is a great idea and a good start. Now they're going to have to figure out how to counter drones when they come in swarms of several dozen. We've all seen some of the amazing, synchronized light shows people are doing with large numbers of drones; imagine if they were armed.

Good to see, but tiny observation drones are being deployed. This race doesn't have a checkered flag. Also, as #3 points our Israel has a powerful ally. The US is along side also.

Just for fun do a search on the net for these items:
RAIL GUN TECHNOLOGY
PLASMA TECHNOLOGY
PLASMA RAIL GUN
Some of the items are really expensive (particularly those used to try to build fusion reactors), and others look like toys ~ find the plasma gun that uses a Nerf gun as a base.... WOW! Looks tacky. Obviously launches Molotov Cocktails with controllable precisions, and quite a distance ~ could be scaled up or down.
Then, think of all of them scaled down to battery powered ray guns.... here, now, and with sufficient power to POP HOLES in meat!
GAD!
Those drones ultimately don't have a chance.
One of the Plasma Rail Guns provided 200 KPSECOND speed in under 2 inches for a ball of plasma ~ something that can probably reach satellites in orbit...... once they work out the friction problems!
