Jackson, Miss.—The president of Jackson State University resigned Monday after he was arrested in a prostitution sting in central Mississippi. William Bynum Jr., 57, was among more than a dozen people arrested during the weekend, according to a Clinton Police Department news release. A separate news release from the Mississippi university system on Monday said Bynum submitted his resignation, and it took effect immediately. Bynum is charged with procuring services of a prostitute, false statement of identity and simple possession of marijuana. He has been president of Jackson State since 2017 after serving four years as president of Mississippi Valley State University.
His defense: “I didn’t do nuffin”

This is absolutely appalling. How could such a person have successfully passed any vetting process before his appointment? To me, this is just another example of how the leaders of America's Black Community have failed their (alleged) constituents. Shameful and outrageous. (And, when are Black Americans going to follow better leaders e. g CORE instead of the NAACP, and furthermore, come to terms with how they have been exploited by the American Left?)

On the university's website, Bynum was described as a "God-loving, God-fearing man," says the article. It went on to say that the description had been removed.
I'm getting a kick out of the name: Bynum. He's buy'n um and they're sellin' it. Bynum buyin' what they're sellin'. Ain't life grand?!

FTA". "Bynum faced protests from some alumni and students when he was first chosen for the Jackson State presidency because he was not among the three initial finalists. The university was having financial problems after overspending by a previous president. Bynum said the university would face three to five years of austerity.
“I understand I may not be your choice,” Bynum told one angry student in 2017. “All I say to you is, watch me work.”
We learned about Provost Philbert (U of M-Ann Arbor) a few weeks ago, and now this guy. Some people can't handle success.

Sorry, but King David made a complete fool of himself with Bathsheeba.
People fall to temptation all the time. Remove him, replace him, pray for him and pray that this college can get back to the business of educating its students.
I don't see how this guy being black has anything to do with this.

I believe the worst crime was the "false statement of identity", isn't that a felony?

Also in the article, it mentions that Shonda McCarthy was arrested in the same sting operation. She is the art director at Jackson State. It doesn't say if they were together or if the arrests were related other than being in the same sting but there may be more to this than meets the eye.

forget the prostitution stuff.
my one point of cautious disagreement with President Trump in his sate Of the Union was his proposal to give a big permanent increase in aid to HBCUs.
there is a pattern of the existing president of one of the schools, dramatically overspending,a then change in leadership, and a demand for a bail out. Cheney State, in Pennsylvania, has been doing that for decades. And they have gotten away with it. central State in Ohio/Wilberforce University - same thing. Lincoln University in Pennsylvania - same thing, not quite as bad as Cheney.
i hope Betsy DeVos carefully analyzes each HBCU before flooding them with taxpayer money. She might want to put some financial oversight to go along with the money.

Heh, his 'appointment' when he wasn't in the field of the three finalists, evokes the same situation here in a local School Board...they put out a call for a new Super, people came in and interviewed, and a local, groomed by the outgoing Super, got the job..lots of background machinations going on everywhere.

Leader of one of the largest HBCUs in the USA busted on a prostitution beef in Clinton (!). Not exactly a great role model, but he'd make a great secretary of education for Elizabeth Warren, assuming he passes muster with the 9-year-old Transgender-American, or maybe a Minister of Diversity.
