The Navy SEAL commander, who clashed with President Donald Trump over disciplining of retired naval officer Eddie Gallagher last year, will reportedly step down from his post later this year. According to The Intercept, Rear Adm Collin Green, the commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command, will be resigning in September.
Green's retirement follows the controversial court-martial of Gallagher who was convicted of posing for a photo with the corpse of a dead ISIS fighter. But a court martial cleared him of murder charges when a medic confessed to the Afghanistan war crime after military prosecutors granted him immunity.

There is more to this story than is allowed to be known- but - I trust Trump.

#1 I'm with you on this, although the jury heard the evidence and cleared him. That Chief Gallagher made enemies is clear but why he did is not. I can't imagine President Trump couldn't/didn't get the whole story.

That’s fine. When you disagree with the Commander-in-Chief, you either suck it up and follow orders or you resign.

I am so glad I stayed away from higher rank. It required an o shaped mouth. I know many of these guys did great things, but they get very caught up in their own importance. Hasta la vista Mr Green. I am sure you will do fine on CNN.

insinuation is the tool of lame politicians and left-wing newsers. We should not indulge in it. We either know something and can link to it or we skip it...

Just wait until his book deal comes out on November 1st. Just in time for the election. Then he can go on a book tour and speaking tour with Bombs Away Bolton. Eddie has got to be feeling good about this.

The admiral should have kept his fat mouth shut after the President stepped in. The CIC "Trumps" any uniform or rank insignia. The main problem with war crimes is in the concept itself. Menu are turned into lethal killers but must restrain themselves at all times. Sometimes the fog of war does not result in clear judgement or decisions although in this case it did. ISIS fighters are animals with no scruples but must be treated like people. Beheading and burning people takes away all rights to humane treatment. Armies at war have historically displayed heads on pikes or took scalps to show valor. War is hell, let these people do their jobs.

There must be a back story to all this. But, you know, Adm. Green, it's a bad idea to cross the President, sir. As you may now have noticed.

I believe the if the truth was known you would find a group of underlings
who didn’t like his leadership skills and set him up.
There are members of the teams who are in it for self and had rather not do the war thing. A hung-ho Chief is not someone some want to fallow.
Just a guess.

This is good. A man with conviction. I'd rather have him walk away than stay and undermine his boss. Thank you for your service. Now POTUS can install someone who better understands the chain of command.

Good. If he cannot stand behind his CiC, or the innocent man who got railroaded, then he needs to get out of the Service. He is no longer fit for duty or leadership of the Special Forces. Ding his pension too.

The commander must have been an Obozo appointee. Posing with dead enemy personnel isn't a court-marshal offence, or at least it shouldn't be. Plus killing the enemy isn't murder. It's the job they signed to do and were trained for.

I dont know this guy, but I've served under quite a few general officers that retired. There were bigger parties thrown by the troops after some of them left. This guy may be in that group.

if you disagree and try to undermine the decision of your boss anywhere else you would be lucky to be allowed to resign. You would be shown the door tout suite.

Get out! And salute your Commander in Chief on the way out! Generals are puffed up pencil pushers! This guy probably values his personal Flag more than his men! No loss!
