Media puffery can’t hide the
Democrats’ impeachment face plant

Late on Thursday night after the impeachment hearings had ended, the headline column at Politico was "How Trump's impeachment created two Democratic Superstars" by Jake Sherman and Heather Caygle. (snip) Not one of the House managers displayed the knowledge and skill of the President's lawyers. Watching Schiff and his cohorts be intellectually eviscerated day after day was the amusing part, as amusing as it was maddening for the wasted time. Consider the moment when Jay Sekulow reminded us all that Schiff had many times said the House had proved its case over and over again beyond all reasonable doubt, which Schiff admitted.
It was interesting - and sad and typical - that the Dems picked their impeachment managers based on skin color and sex. Slavers holding an auction weren't this superficial.
It was also interesting - and sad and typical - that Schiff & Nadler were held over. Schiff, obviously, is incapable of telling the truth about the smallest detail. Nadler was a vacant buffoon in his 500 lb days and is an even more vacant buffoon now despite the lap band.
Kevin McCarthy confirmed that Pelosi thought Nadler 'inept' but she was stuck with him. Her ego wouldn't allow her to bench an incompetent captain and be forced to explain. His role until the trial was minimized. On the other hand, various observers have marveled at the hold Schiff has on Pelosi. She thinks he hung the moon, mostly because he tells her - and the media - exactly what they want to hear. Even if it's pure fiction.
On the other hand, who did the Dems have to offer, really? Their caucus is almost entirely composed of swivel-eyed zealots. Any so-called moderates gave up the title when they followed the impeachment crazies off the cliff.

I have to agree--Schiff and Jeffries ARE superstars. But, by democrat standards.
But to the average, fair-minded American, they looked like a bunch of high school dropouts trying to impersonate a college debate team.
If the media was impressed with their effort and performance, then the media is that much more exposed as the partisan hacks that they have devolved into.

A lot of crowing from Republicans who see this as a complete victory. The objective here was never to remove Trump. It was preordained that he would be acquitted in a Republican majority Senate. This was about the 2020 election and dirtying up Trump as much as possible. That was the true epic fail of this game. No one changed their mind. Schiff and Nadler are still Schiff and Nadler. Lying politicians loved by the left and despised by the right. On n to the Super Bowl.

A. What cheap stunt will the Dems pull on Tuesday evening to detract from the Presidemt’s State of the Union? A walk out? Black arm bands? Backs turned? Mueller, impeachment, Kavanaugh and more were meant to embarrass and undermine President Trump, and Dems will continue their shameless antics.
B. 100 Senators and our Chief Justice sat silently through the Schiff show without once asking for an end of the lies and gross exaggeration of facts. This is how we make laws?
C. The only positive about impeachment was that it stopped Congress from inflicting further madness on us. Just for this reason it should continue for months and months.

On Tuesday, count on President Trump to make some funny-sarcastic comment about Trump-hating Dems during his State of the Union speech before listing the umpteen terrific things he's been doing for America. --Vets for Trump

I was going to ask why Trump would not change date of the State of the Union message until the Impeachment fiasco is done; perhaps Thursday or Friday, but then I figured that Trump has his own battle plans for everything so we will have to watch and see his plans to deflate the Democrats expected plans for disruption.

Who says it can't? They have been hiding a multitude of democrat crimes for several decades now. People who pay attention know they are out there, but people who don't? Well...
At a minimum, media puffery will ease the sting and damage of the face plant that happened last week. Now if Turtle hadn't agreed to a delay, we would be able to move on. But the spineless coward from KY just cannot seem to stand up and do the job being a leader requires. Trying to get along with everyone instead of what is best for the nation will do that to you.

McConnell did an excellent job of handling this sham proceeding. Just the fact that he got Lisa Murkowski to vote against additional witnesses proves that. This is a total win for Trump and the Republicans. Some people are never satisfied/

You had to love it during closing statements Nadler beat Schumer to the podium, with Schumer yelling, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry! Schumer though he was the star. I got news for both of you. You both won Raspberries and a giant Bronx cheer.

While I agree that the purpose of impeachment was to smear Trump, through tight control in the Senate, the dems failed at this. The dems, Schiffty primarily, had to talk about everything BUT the actual articles of impeachment. Any rational person had to ask, if this stuff matters, why is NONE of it in the articles handed up. The obvious and painful truth is that NONE of the things that the House managers babbled about has ANY evidence to back it up. The actual charges were clearly ephemeral, especially Obstruction of Congress which, Constitutionally, the Presidency is DESIGNED to do as a check on their power. Abuse of power, especially as related to foreign policy, is absurd because the Constitution vests that power in the President. Of course there are legal limits on the President's power but the House's charge defined NO statute that was violated.
So the dems had nothing and babbled to defeat. Again. And yet again, the dems looked foolish and incompetent. They must like this look because they keep wearing it. Yes, dems, that dress DOES make you look obese.
