The Senate Friday voted to usher in the end of President Trump’s impeachment trial by rejecting a motion to call for additional witnesses and documents.
Two Republicans joined 47 Democrats to vote in favor of calling for the additional evidence. The motion fell short by two votes, ending the case House Impeachment managers have been presenting for the past two weeks.
The Senate now moves into the final phase of the trial, which could last a few days longer to allow senators to deliberate and give speeches before holding final votes.

Will we ever hear Eric Ciaramella and the Lt Colonel twins hired by Bolton, the Vindmans, testify to a Senate Committee? After the President is justly acquitted, we can’t let those 3 snakes simply walk away from the damage their deceitful conspiracy caused. There are others, but let’s start with these 3.

What about due process? What about Mr. Trump's ability to face his accusers? THAT didn't happen in the House impeachment proceedings. Republicans could not even call witnesses unless they were approved by Schiffty and his pals. These jerks would have dragged this trial out forever. The whole lot of them can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. I am fed up with Dems.

Yes the Bobsie Twins of Flip flop roll over RINO's voting with the despicable dimwits. It's is an embarrassment they are so traitorous vile and despicable. Just one more day of winning. In the democrat camp, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

It's over. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few Democrats vote to acquit.

Yes #4, and not to mention little Jeff Sessions who did tremendous damage as an incompetent and cowardly Attorney General.
I cringe when I see him on FNC now sucking up to conservatives once again so he can get back in the Senate.

Keep in mind, boys and girls, if President Trump wins re-election, but the democrats win majorities in the house and senate, they will do another hack impeachment and they will remove him from office.

I would like to see McConnell take a stand. Give each Senator five minutes to get their face on TV. Then take the vote to Acquit and call it a day. There is no reason to give in to any of Schumer's demands. His side LOST! I do NOT want Trump to stand up at the State of the Union, with Nancy smirking behind him, while he is still under Impeachment. I think that would be horrible! If McConnell can't get it done before Trump speaks, Trump should call it off and pick a new date. I've always thought it would be better for him to give his speech from the Oval Office. I hate the thought of Nancy sitting behind him making faces!

Choke on it Schiffhead! The senate wasn’t willing to do your job that you failed to do in the House. The left will have to do another “scream at the sky” event. I may OD on schadenfreude tonight!

I still don't understand why the Senate didn't vote after it was there for one minute and throw this travesty away for good!

I have to tip my hat to McConnell and the Senate Rebublican majority. Only two lamebrain RINOs voted to contiune this farce. McConnell was able to hold his caucus together. And what is more impressive is the Rebublicans finally stood up to the Dems and Kneepad Media's last minute gotcha witnesses. This may be the first time in my life that I have seen the Rebulicans play hardball with sleazy Dem antics and win! Maybe, just maybe, the Rebulicans have learned how to rule from a position of power.

The Republicans are debating letting this run into Wednesday of next week, so they can debate, and express their opinions. NOOOO! I am sick of this! Get it over with now! Republicans, have you lost what little minds you ever had to even consider not wrapping this up this week? Republicans, you are getting as insane as the Democrats to even consider such an idea.

Susan Collins is the as conservative as we can expect from a liberal state like Maine. We know and accept that. However, Utah can do much better than Pierre Defecto. Time to start the recall movement.

The sorry RINOs gave the dems a bipartisan vote FOR witnesses, demonstrating that they, the RINOs, are traitors just like their fellow leftists the dems.

This whole process has accomplished little but to bring to light the utter deep rooted corruption within the Democrat party. They have clearly demonstrated that the rule of law doesn't apply to them or those that share their beliefs. Democrats harbor a visceral hatred and contempt for the people that elected Donald Trump. Lady Justice has been assaulted by elected Democrats that took part in this travesty of justice as they violated their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

I agree with #23 about Collins, but whether or not Utah can do better may be problematic. In the absence of an appealing candidate with access to serious money we're gonna be SOL. True in some other states as well.

I misunderstood Collins and Pierre who both voted for new witnesses. Yes, agree with #10, to start organizing the recall petitions now for their removal from office.
