Imagine this: You’re out with your family in one of the parks in New York state where you can actually see the stars when it gets dark. You look up in the sky, see a constellation, and you point upwards to show your kids. Along comes a park ranger demanding to see your Stargazing Permit, and issues you a citation because you didn’t know you needed such a permit.
That’s right, the state of New York is now demanding us peasants give them money so we can look up at the sky. [Tweet]
This is totally a real thing, as it shows up on the state’s permitting

Liberals want to control everything people do... yet the idiots who make up these laws, policies and procedures are re-elected by dumb people. And so it goes....

That's akin to a breathing permit.
I'd pay them the middle finger, and if they came to collect, a side of lead.

There was a time in my memory when the news out of New York State did not always sound insane. Must need the extra revenue to keep the Clintons in the style to which they've become accustomed.

Sounds like there's a competition between Noo Yawk and Kalifornia to see who can elect the most idiotic politicians. ''Star Gazing Permit? Well, we're going to pass a 'Blink Tax'...you pay the tax or wind up looking like Adam Schiff!''

“He (the LORD) took him (Abraham) outside and said, "Look up at the sky and count the stars--if indeed you can count them." Obviously, God made sure they were not in New York!

President Ford said it best: “New York, drop dead!”

It is worth noting that this permit is not for star gazing in general. It is for entering state parks which are otherwise closed at dark. One can make a case that restricting access to the parks to those willing and able to pay an additional fee is outrageous (which the article does), but this is not about restricting people from star gazing.

I say tough toenails. The people in NY are getting what they voted for. They have a corrupt, one party government, which is what they voted for in the state and the big cities. You asked for it and you got it. T.S.!

How about a permit for navel gazing? That would certainly slow down the lawmakers in Albany.

Just another way for the state of New York to get tax revenue. They really have raised taxation into an art form in New York. Know who else would use state parks after dark besides star gazers? Drug dealers. This is a ploy to open up the state parks after dark, and make money doing it.

Night Hunting for illegally poaching deer is a big thing in Upstate New York's Parks. It sounds like the permits are being used to offset the cost of having game warden patrol the parks, and legitimize the star-gazers they find there. During the hunting season, the deer instinctively hide out in the state park where hunting is illegal.

It's not much of a stretch from requiring hunting licenses to shoot birds and rabbits that the government doesn't feed or own or licenses for fishing in waters where they do not feed the fish. Many farmers have deer feeding on their crops on their own land yet must pay to hunt them. If you can extort money from the peasants, everything is fair game. Democrats obviously don't care if they look ridiculous because they do it constantly.

What nitwit came up with this idea? What's next, a breathing permit. I am so happy that I left that state. The democRAT run government in Albany have lost their minds. I think they should rename the state Kalifornia East.

The madness is about to come to a screeching halt. What do you think has been going on these past 3 years. it's called SEDITION and with foreign countries and individuals involved we may also be looking at TREASON. What were Barr/Durham doing in Italy? Just checking out the latest stamping of the newest batch of Prosciutto de Parma or Locatelle Percorino Romano or maybe checking out the new type of fruit called Mifsud Blackberries.

The scenario described at the opening of this article is a total Strawman. Looking up and pointing for your kids isn't what they're classifying as stargazing. There are certain places where the conditions are particularly conducive for people parking their butts (and telescopes) for long hours at night to look at celestial phenomena. This is more like getting a seasonal parking permit for a state park.

I clicked on the link just to see what kind of nonsense story Gateway Pundit was putting out. No one could take this headline seriously. As others have pointed out, the picture in the story shows a permit to park, not to look up at the sky. Gateway Pundit seems like a good site to ignore.

I'm sure this will fly well in the Adirondack State Park area!! I can see a lot of people staring at the night sky and saying, "permits are for suckers!"
