Schumer Rejects Proposal to Subpoena Bolton
Manuscript for Impeachment Trial

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has rejected a proposal by Republican Senators to subpoena the manuscript of former National Security Advisor John Bolton, insisting Bolton must appear as a witness. [Tweet] Democrats did not subpoena Bolton during the House impeachment inquiry after he said he would seek an answer from the courts as to whether the president’s constitutional privileges would allow him to testify. Bolton’s deputy, who was still subpoenas, sought an answer from the courts — but House Democrats canceled the subpoena before a federal court court ruled on the matter, and passed articles of impeachment regardless.

This Bolton book fiasco has them scrambling. They don’t know just what to do. If someone other than Bolton caused the leak, he has to be beside himself. Now being called “the Julie Swetnick of the impeachment”… It would be a whole lot easier for the Senate to do the right thing and acquit based upon the so-called “evidence and testimony” that they used to support the two lame Articles of Impeachment. If anyone wants to get out whole, this runaway train should be stopped now. It was no surprise to see Benedict Arnold Kelly, one of the weakest military men ever, show up to say ditto. Useless, John. Or should I say “Useless John”?

PS: How can an Administration employee write a book that discloses the kind of thing that is covered by executive privilege and get away with it? Bolton is looking like just another disgruntled employee, trying to get back at the boss who fired him. No one likes traitors...

I hope McConnell calls it. Vote and be done. Otherwise It could go on forever. When the dems scream, "but there's more to uncover here" McConnell should say, "If you want another impeachment, knock yourselves out...This one is finished." VOTE

So Schumer is now the majority leader??? Republicans never seem to amaze me by acting like wimps. This mess should have been stopped when Rosenstein pushed Sessions out & appointed Mueller who had all democrats on this team & never informed anyone for the reason Trump was being investigated. The republicans have no one to blame but themselves for allowing this fake impeachment to go on since 2016. This is sickening. Any republican who votes for witnesses after listening to Schiff & Nadler for years need to be voted out of office.

This whole Bolton thing is simply more theater of the absurd, and attempts by establishment Republicans to assure us that Bolton isn't actually a very creepy guy are, well, absurd. Mickey Kaus captures it well: Can you be an unvarnished truth teller and a schmuck? Bolton's whole 'I've-written-a-book-and-gee-it-leaked-at-the-most-damaging-time' act seems disingenuous and vindictive. https://t.co/1hDJjqnhfs — Mickey Kaus (@kausmickey) January 28, 2020 Psst! During an interview that aired Wednesday on the Fox News Channel, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) weighed in on the possibility of some Senate Democrats voting along with Republicans to acquit President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial currently underway. Hawley told FNC’s Tucker Carlson the case falling apart and pointed to the shifting of the claims of wrongdoing by the House managers. “I think it is very possible, Tucker,” he said. “I think what it tells you is they just don’t have the case. I think we’re really watching here with the questioning tonight the Democrats case just fall apart. I just came from the floor. We’re in recess here.

Despite ongoing demands for new witness testimony during President Trump's impeachment trial, testimony House managers refused to compel before transmitting articles to the upper chamber earlier this month, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Graham is confident the entire process will be over by Friday. "I'm increasingly optimistic this ends Friday. I think the question is whether we should have additional testimony from witnesses that the House refused to call. Lets assume for a moment that John Bolton would say what the New York Times said he would say, 'The President told me to put a freeze on the aid because I want to look at the Bidens.' The Republican National Committee (RNC) launched a new digital campaign ad and a fundraiser on Tuesday in response to CNN’s Don Lemon mocking Trump supporters during a segment on his show that went viral on Monday night. The segment, which was from late on Saturday night, went largely unnoticed until Monday night when a former CNN employee tweeted out the clip, which quickly got a response from President Donald Trump and other top figures. The segment featured Lemon, far-left op-ed writer Wajahat Ali, and anti-Trump establishment Republican Rick Wilson who mocked Trump supporters as being uneducated rednecks who could not read, spell, or use maps.

For three years, Democrats accused the president of having stolen the 2016 election. Now, they maintain, he is trying to steal the 2020 election. In reality, it was Hillary and members of the Obama administration (and probably Obama himself) who tried to steal the 2016 election and it is Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler who are trying to steal 2020. Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler are using the power of their offices to erase the 2016 election, steal the 2020 Presidential Election, and damage Republican senators in purple states enough to flip the upper chamber to Democratic Party control.

White House Counsel Pat Cipollone concluded opening arguments in the president’s defense in the Senate impeachment trial on Tuesday afternoon by playing video clips of Democrats arguing against President Bill Clinton’s impeachment in 1998. Some of those Democrats — such as Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) — are among the House managers urging the Senate to remove Trump from office. Others — such as then-Rep. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) — are now in the Senate themselves. Cipollone focused on excerpts from congressional speeches in which Democrats denounced the idea of a partisan impeachment, likening it to a “coup d’état,”
