Hong Kong cut rail links
as virus from China spreads

Hong Kong said Tuesday it will cut all rail links to mainland China as the United States and other governments prepared to evacuate citizens from the Chinese city at the center of a virus outbreak that has now killed more than 100 people. Wearing a green surgical mask, Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam told a news conference that train service would stop at midnight Thursday and that the two stations connecting to the mainland would be closed. She stopped short of a total closing of the border, as North Korea and Mongolia have done, but said that flights from the mainland would be reduced.

Wonder how she can close the border to China, since Hong Kong is now Chinese????

Good move now that the virus has already spread worldwide and people have been flying out of China for a couple of weeks. One person on a plane could easily have infected the entire cabin. It would be devastating if the malnourished population of North Korea gets hit by this. Those unfortunate folks have troubles enough.

I remember an article posted here last week about just how nasty in their personal hygiene mainland Chinese people are. Unconfined coughing, sneezing and spitting in public, pooping and peeing in store dressing rooms. Not to mention the disgusting menu of varmints, rodents and refuse they eat...with relish. No wonder a horrible, devastating disease rears up every ten years or so in that country. That whole continent needs to be quarantined until the danger is over.

Odd behavior for a disease that's only killed 100 people, when SARS and MERS killed more and they never quarantined millions of people. And regular flu kills 10s of thousands every year, world-wide. What's different this time? Or are they not really giving out what's really going on?

Officials in Los Angeles said late Sunday that dense fog in Southern California likely played a role in the deadly crash in Calabasas that claimed the lives of nine people, including NBA great Kobe Bryant and his teenage daughter. Several experts pointed to the poor flying conditions in the area and said fog will likely play a key part in the investigation, the Los Angeles Times reported. Dense fog covered the area and continued to hang low on the Santa Monica mountain range hours after the crash.

Thanks to a 4-hour documentary about herself, which premiered to great Progressive buzz at the Sundance Film Festival, Hillary’s in the news again. More than that, she’s doing so at a time when Democrats are panicking about Bernie’s increasing lead in New Hampshire and the general pressure he’s putting on “mainstream” candidate Joe Biden. Sane Democrats strongly suspect that, while Bernie’s manna for the base, most Americans are not going to vote for a candidate who still adores socialism despite the Gulags, the reeducation camps, and those nasty National Socialist gas chambers. Because of the buzz, a scrubbed, buffed, injected, stretched,

PARK CITY, Utah — Since losing the 2016 election to Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton has released a memoir about that defeat, launched a political action committee and penned another book about “gutsy women” with her daughter, Chelsea. But Clinton’s most prominent return to the public eye has come at the Sundance Film Festival, where the former Secretary of State unveiled a candid four-hour documentary series, “Hillary.” Clinton is aware that some thought she would slink away after 2016. “Yes, they did, didn’t they?” Clinton said in an interview in Park City. “Well, that was never an option.” Nanette Burstein’s “Hillary,” which Hulu

Joe Biden suggested on Tuesday that the Obamas would be appointed to high office if he were elected in 2020, telling voters the former first lady could be his running mate, while her husband was destined for the Supreme Court, provided he wanted the appointment. The former vice president made the promise during a campaign town hall in Iowa, where he was asked by a voter if he would consider appointing Obama to the Supreme Court. “Yeah, I would, but I don’t think he’d do it,” Biden said in response. “He’d be a great Supreme Court justice.” When the voters clarified that he had not stipulated which member

On impeachment, Mitt Romney has thrown a spanner in the works. What looked like a speedy scrapping of the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump, premised on Democrats beclowning themselves, is now on hold. Romney says that John Bolton's "bombshell" about a supposed Ukrainian aid-for-investigation quid pro quo is so significant it merits calling Bolton as a witness in the Senate impeachment trial, just as Democrats have been calling for, though not enough to call him in at the House. According to the Associated Press: WASHINGTON (AP) — It’s Mitt Romney’s big moment, again. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee has for a year been a

You’ve got to hand it to the Democrats -- they can hold their caucus together for the flimsiest of causes. The GOP, though, has all these RINOs who have to establish their independence; they’re willing to break party unity when it serves their own ambitions. Three senators – Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and Mitt Romney of Utah – are rumored to be willing for witnesses to be called in the impeachment trial now underway in the Senate. Obviously, such a slowdown benefits the Democrats, who want the impeachment to headline news reports as long as possible.

WILDWOOD — They took jitneys down from Atlantic City, pre-gamed with Yuenglings and flags at a local Irish bar, and tailgated in the Wildwoods Convention Center parking lot overnight. If this were summer, the crowd that buzzed Tuesday around the Wildwood boardwalk — with provocative T-shirts and slogans, flashes of defiant patriotism, and generally elevated exuberance just to be there — might have simply blended in with the town’s usual Jersey Shore vibe.

CNN hit a new low this weekend mocking and laughing out loud at uneducated, redneck Trump supporters who can’t even read. This is what they think of Middle America — the 63 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump for president.Far-left op-ed writer Wajahat Ali, and Never-Trumper Rick Wilson joined Don Lemon in the vicious assault on Trump supporters. It could not have been more insulting. Don Lemon thought it was so funny he almost fell from his chair. The segment that aired on Saturday night came in response to reports that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo yelled at a left-wing NPR reporter last week.

I guess I should say something. For five years my office at AEI was right next to John Bolton. Lately I’ve been having fun with this photo suggesting I can do “hearsay” with the best of Adam Schiff’s witnesses (that is, “making stuff up”). I can’t say I got to know Bolton very well, but as early risers we were often the first people in the office before well before 7 am on many days, so I’d sometimes stop to chat over coffee and we’d joke about things. And he was helpful to me several times when I needed some inside information on how the UN’s climate change circus

Des Moines, Iowa—Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has announced a plan to prevent, contain and treat infectious diseases as a new viral illness spreads in China. The Massachusetts senator on Tuesday unveiled a plan that includes fully funding the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s pandemic prevention and response programs. The agency has faced stiff budget cuts under President Donald Trump, including to emergency funds and global health programs that were established following West Africa’s Ebola epidemic in 2014. “Like so much else, Trump’s approach to keeping us safe from disease outbreaks is a mess,” Warren wrote in an online post announcing the plan.

The Democrat-led House is set next week to vote on legislation to override the 27 states that have given workers a right to work without being forced to join a union or to give it a cut of their paycheck. House Education and Labor Committee Chairman Bobby Scott, a Virginia Democrat, argued that such "right-to-work" laws are unfair to unions and the workers that back collective bargaining, necessitating his bill, the Protecting the Right to Organize Act. “Under current law, unions are required to negotiate on behalf of all employees, regardless if they belong to the union or not," Scott told the Washington Examiner. "The PRO Act simply allows workers

CNN's Don Lemon giggled like a schoolgirl as panelists Rick Wilson and Wajahat Ali mocked President Trump's supporters as a bunch of illiterate hillbillies. Lemon, who is the defendant in a scandalous sexual assault case, was dishing about Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's dustup with an NPR reporter who reportedly could not find Ukraine on a map. "[Pompeo] also knows deep within his heart that Donald Trump couldn't find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter U and a picture of an actual physical crane next to it," Wilson said. The Kentucky Senator reportedly made the remarks in a private Republican meeting. Several senators also expressed willingness to move on from the Senate trial to a final vote. NEWS -- McConnell told his members that he did not yet have enough votes to be able to kill the witness vote, expected Friday, according to people familiar.
