The University of Michigan has placed its provost on leave after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him, the school has announced. Martin A. Philbert, who earns $570,340 a year, was placed on administrative leave on Tuesday, according to a letter from the university. Several allegations were made against the 57-year-old last Thursday and Friday, triggering an internal investigation of sexual misconduct by Philbert, says University President Mark S. Schlissel. Washington, DC, law firm WilmerHale, was then hired to lead the probe since Philbert, who is the school's executive vice president of academic affairs, is normally charged with conducting such investigations

I once held a federal government job and discovered that our EEOC compliance manager was sleeping with a half dozen of the women in our office. Well, he was being equal...

I believe that he is innocent. Do a search and look at the images. He can't be guilty.

Overpaid and oversexed.
Job should pay $100,000 per year, no additional benefits.
Does not help school.

It would be interesting to go back into his academic history and see if he profited from any sort of affirmative action, or if he genuinely earned all of his impressive degrees. As for the charges being brought against him, we'll have to wait and see. Sexual harassment charges aren't always legitimate, sometimes they are politically or personally motivated. This trial by media and social media, has got to stop.

I'd sexually harass staffers for far less than a cool 1/2 Mill per year. No hope, though since I'm a Cracker.

How many students' yearly tuition payments does it take to pay this guy's salary? That's money that those students had to borrow and endebt themselves to for the rest of their lives. Disgusting

U of M is run and ruined by liberal hacks. They also have an Opera professor or something like that, that received tenure AFTER complaints of him and his lover making moves on students. It's a SICK environment.

So did the half-a-million bucks-a-year-Provost harass or had sexual misconduct with Ms. Obama?
Otherwise, there's no relationship between one and the other. It's like the old "false cause-and-effect" story:
Everyone who was alive in 1857 and ate carrots are now dead. Therefore, eating carrots causes death.

Why am I not surprised? $570K a year, and he contributes NOTHING toward the education and/or enlightenment of any U of M student. Every Big Ten University - including my own alma mater - is rife with this kind of academic corruption and wasted money. Universities are becoming just like government - full of so-called "elites" who are morons, and corrupt morons at that.

You notice when politicians are arguing for free college, they never mention over paid staff as part of the problem? Never mention sports and how much they bring to the school. Never mention coaches salary.
The beat goes on. All talk. No change.

Did he make a habit of saying inappropriate things? That constitutes sexual harassment. Did he call female employees 'honey' or 'sweetie?' That constitutes sexual harassment. Did he adjust his 'guys' when he stood up, in front of female employees? That constitute sexual harassment. When he spoke with female employees, did he touch her hand or arm? That constitutes sexual harassment. Did he say 'you guys' when talking to women? That constitutes sexual harassment. Did he say 'you girls' or 'you ladies?' That constitutes sexual harassment.
One of my final arbitration cases prior to retirement had to do with two women consultants and how a union employee, male, interacted with them. The women were hired to raise awareness of the union employees in dealing with women and minorities. Everything I listed above, in the eyes of the consultants, was, in their view, harassment.
It was time for me to retire.

What does one of Obama's central casting kids have to do with this.
Probably didn't do anything, some disgruntled employee made crap up.
Now he has to prove he didn't do it.

Don’t these people who get in so much trouble now days realize that God gave them hands to use in times of need. Certainly preferable to suspension, disgrace and possibly even time in the pen, perhaps with somebody having similar inclinations.
