'People will sit at home': Sanders supporters

Bernie Sanders supporters in Iowa are warning that a lack of enthusiasm for Joe Biden could bring the same result the nomination of another milquetoast Democrat did four years ago: electing Donald Trump. Sanders backers fret the socialist Vermont senator, 78, is being consistently ignored and underestimated by Beltway insiders and a Washington-based press corps. The same bunch, in their view, who failed to predict Trump's 2016 White House win and were sure Hillary Clinton, who beat Sanders for the Democratic nomination, would easily prevail. They're particularly steamed Sanders, a socialist who has been in Congress since 1991, isn't getting his due though

My dream scenario? Howard Schultz jumping in as a third party candidate. Remember how badly that scared the DNC when he threatened that last year? Schultz has the youth, the social chops and eve nbusiness experience that all the others lack. He is no Trump, but he is not a commie like Bernie either. Far as I can see, he is the one democrat that could actually run a decent race against Trump. Plus he would split the democrat vote and that is a good thing.

Project Veritas released video of Sander's campaign staffer Kyle Jurek stating unequivocally that if Sanders was not nominated as the Democratic candidate, then Milwaukee will burn and police will be beaten. Yesterday, Breitbart news reported that Jurek had been arrested for probation violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, and DWI. I think that Bernie will NEVER be nominated and that this time there very well may be violence.

With Iran back in the spotlight, the Daily Beast reminds us that we–and Bernie Sanders–have been here before: On April 1, 1979, the theocratic Islamic Republic of Iran was proclaimed. His rise was accelerated by the seizure on Nov. 4 of 52 (Snip) Dealing with the hostage taking became the overwhelming political crisis for President Jimmy Carter. It lasted 444 days. Mystery solved. Former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has ‘fessed up to giving explosive text messages of FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page to the press in 2017. The messages between the two, exchanged in 2016 while both were involved in sensitive political probes, revealed their antipathy to then-candidate Donald Trump and loyalty to Hillary Clinton. Rosenstein’s admission came in a Friday-night court filing by the Department of Justice, which is seeking to dismiss Strzok’s lawsuit challenging his June 2016 firing, Politico reported. The former agent’s case seeks damages for invasion of privacy, arguing that the texts were disclosed due to political pressure from the White House.

For Americans across the country, Democrats’ and the media’s fixation on impeachment has engulfed the news the public has consumed for nearly four months. Democrats have worked tirelessly to convince the public that President Trump committed an impeachable offense. Unfortunately for them, these attempts have proved to be futile. Recent polling has shown a drop in support for impeachment. Where our country was previously evenly divided, Americans now oppose impeachment 50%-47% and Trump’s job approval rating has remained steady. Americans see beyond spin and media narratives, but ascertaining what has been going on in Washington behind the sea of impeachment headlines can be difficult. John Lennon’s “Imagine” is a seductive ballad that asks us to dream of a world at peace, a place where there’s “nothing to kill or die for.” Nice sentiment if you live in San Francisco and still have flowers in your hair, but it makes for a terrible foreign policy. Someone needs to tell that to the Democrats running for president. The Democrats couldn’t wait 10 minutes before unloading on President Trump, condemning him for needless provocation, for taking the United States to “the brink of war,” because he ordered the drone strike that took out Iran’s top general, Qassem Soleimani.

For the past several years, it has become a cute aspect of Democrats in the media and in elected office to allege, without any evidence whatsoever, that their Republican opponents are operating in service of Russia. It has been repeatedly stated on cable news by a litany of Democrats – without any demands they prove such claims – in behavior that hosts on MSNBC and CNN treat as cute commentary instead of what it really is: allegations of the deepest kind of treachery to the nation they serve. It’s sickening in a way that goes far beyond Harry Reid’s obvious lies about Mitt Romney not paying any taxes.

The Left’s reaction to CNN’s hostility toward Sen. Bernie Sanders during Tuesday night’s Democratic presidential debate inevitably evokes that classic Casablanca scene in which Renault indignantly declares, “I’m shocked — shocked — to find that gambling is going on in here!” Renault isn’t actually surprised, of course. He’s smart enough to know exactly what’s been happening at Rick’s. The same cannot be said for Sanders supporters and what’s been going on at CNN. They credulously watched for three years as its “journalists” accused President Trump, without a scrap of evidence, of colluding with Russia to steal the 2016 election and still believed the cable network was in the news business.

One of the most memorable scenes from Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” comes when traveling salesman Harold Hill tries to trick the people of River City into believing “they’ve got trouble” in their small Iowa town so he can launch a scheme to swindle them out of their money. Now, with less than three weeks until the Iowa caucuses get underway, we are seeing a similar scene play out: Democrats are crisscrossing the Hawkeye State frantically trying to convince Iowans that they are in serious trouble under President Trump and the only salvation is succumbing to socialism. This shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Last February, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatened House Democrats who dared to work with Republicans, saying they were “putting themselves on a list” and that she would help challengers unseat them in 2020. At the time, her more seasoned colleagues assumed such rhetoric would abate once she learned how Congress operates. Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.), for example, gave her the benefit of the doubt: “She’s new here, feeling her way around. She doesn’t understand how the place works yet.” Presumably, Shrader was disabused of this fantasy when he found his name among the 24 House Democrats who will soon be “primaried” by candidates backed by two Political Action Committees linked to AOC.

Last Saturday in Iowa, the day after an American MQ-9 Reaper dropped its ordnance on Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad, Joe Biden moved quickly to make himself the face of Democratic opposition to President Donald Trump’s drone strike.
