Is slimming down the monarchy
the only way to save it?

Original Article

The crisis that has engulfed the royal family, sparked by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell announcement that they are jumping ship, is about far more than just their personal future. If that wasn’t the case, it wouldn’t be so important. Families fall out, scandals come and go and the monarchy marches on. But this announcement and the extraordinary Sandringham summit convened by the Queen was about something much more fundamental. The subject of discussion was what the monarchy does, who it is for and how much longer it will continue in its current form after the Queen’s reign. And, indeed, whether it should survive at all.

Meh! If Charles were competent I think the Queen would have handed the reigns to him long ago. He is the future head of a dysfunctional family and a lot of blame for that state of affairs can be placed directly on him. Immense wealth and the best education certainly doesn't guarantee strength of character.

Perhaps if Charles had spent less time shacking up with horse-face Camilla, and more time being a father to his sons, he might have been able to help his younger son find a purpose in life. Charles isn't the only one at fault. though The royal family lavished attention on William as a future king, and just left Harry to find his own way with the current disastrous consequences.

I agree that Charles should step back and look at his behavior years back. If he had been a faithful husband to Diana things may have turned out differently in his family. That said, I don't think the Brits care if Megan and Harry leave the Royal Family. It's because they want to physically leave, but they still want all the Trappings of being a Royal that they want to hang on to. They don't want anyone telling what to do, or not do, they want to wander the world (using the Queen's plane) and they want to keep their Security staff (paid for by the Brits). Seems to me they want their cake and eat it too! Meghan is definitely behind all of this turmoil. She said she felt like a prisoner, she was having panic attacks, she was being attacked by the Press due to Racism. On and On. All about Meghan. What the heck did she expect when she married into a Royal Family? She is such an Air Head she thought she could waltz through life, being SO Important and everyone would envy her lifestyle of beautiful clothes, parties with the Clooneys and a Car and Driver provided at her every whim. Jeesh. I think the Brits should kick them Both out without a dime. Let them earn their way! Harry will soon figure out his wife was not enthralled with him, she was enthralled over being a Royal! She will dump him as soon as he becomes Harry WHO without any Royal Trappings at all!

Let him go and keep the money in the UK. If he wants out, he can earn the money on his own. His wife is planning on cashing in on his title not her talents. Her main talent is taking her clothes off and posing. They deserve each other. In my opinion, William and Kate should be the next in line not that wimp Charles.

If Harry was at a loss as to how to carve out a role for himself, you should have looked to his aunt's life for inspiration. It is said that Princess Anne is the hardest working royal, one who is highly respected for her charity work. Of course, being Diana's son, he'd prefer Hollywood-style star treatment, not respect and honorable service.

The author is a willfully blind royalist. Charles could not marry who he wanted to,.......she was already married. He married Diana out of duty, not love. It was bound to fail.It did. William was on again off again with Kate for 7 years. Their marriage is strong. Harry was targeted by a grifter, he's weak , she won , for now. P.S. Queen Victoria took the same type of photograph over 100 years ago. Her, her son , the Prince of Wales ( future Edward VII) his son ( future George V ) and his son( future Edward VIII) .

The Royal Family got played by a Malignant Narcissist. That MN had help from others. Do not discount the Clintons' and Obamas' involvement. The little grifter played her part well. And don't think Harry didnt get the guidance he needed to become a worthy man: he had plenty of support and love from his older brother, his grandmother, and others. (Wills lost his mother, too, and has expressed sorrow that in spite of his willingness to help his brother, Harry turned his back on it). Harry made choices of his own and has been amazingly reluctant to grasp the concept of his own part in the debacle. "What Meghan wants, Meghan gets." They ALL knew what it would take to make things work, and Meghan, being the Malignant Narcissist, was incapable of doing it...so off she runs because her power play did not work the way she planned. Thats what MNs DO when they are unable to penetrate strength and integrity. I feel for Harry. He knows how his grandmother and his family SHOULD be treated. He KNOWS what he had before. Hes chosing to ignore it anyway, because the MN has fogged his brain. Someone needs to tell the Queen that when dealing with a Malignant Narcissist, the ONLY way to deal effectively with them is to cut them off cold. I hope she removes at least Markle's titles. Let Markle spin her lies with out it.

Our colleges and universities have taken a sharp downhill route in the last few decades but schools of journalism far outpace the traditional fields of study in the fall. There are so many "bombshells" falling these days that one does not know which way to duck. The indelicate laundry airing of the Royals means exactly nothing to the rest of the world.

The two kids want to get jobs in the philanthropic profession. Why is that such a shock to Brits? After all, so many of the Brit public have been wanting the royals to get jobs and support themselves for the longest time. Can't have it both ways Brits. You are either happy that Harry and Meghan are moving off the royal dole, or you are unhappy. Can't have it both ways. Most of the younger royals actually have jobs in the private sector and I am happy for them. The only ones who should actually be on The List are the most senior of the royals. Grandfather in a few of the older ones, then strike them off The List when they pass on.

The worst thing to have happened to Harry was the media exposure of his role in the military. They put the target on him, and destroyed what was a promising military career. Harry might be an airhead, but he served with distinction and lots of bravery, something his male relatives cannot really lay claim to. So I tend to give him a pass. Charles has always been a self centered narcissist with zero class. Evidence that by him putting his mistress Camilla in the crowd where Diana was sure to see her as she walked down the aisle. Chuck could not even give Diana a single day in the sun, he had to rub Camilla in her face.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

Will Joe Biden and his foreign-policy team accept the extraordinary gift Team Trump is leaving for them under the Christmas tree — or is their hatred for the president so all-consuming that they will toss it in the garbage? I’m talking about the Abraham Accords, peace deals between Israel and various Arab states — the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan — that have sought the Jewish state’s destruction since its founding in 1948. Normalization has proceeded so quickly, Dubai already has a kosher restaurant, and its supermarkets are stocking Israeli agricultural products festooned with Stars of David — a science-fictional sight only a year ago.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
