Democrats’ strategy for the Senate impeachment trial is apparently to turn it into a never-ending Senate investigation — even though that was supposed to be the House’s job.
Start with the General Accounting Office opinion that Team Trump’s temporary hold on aid to Ukraine constitutes a violation of the law. Maybe — but the GAO is no kind of court or other legal authority. If this was a real issue, the House could’ve raised it long ago. “We forgot” is just an old Steve Martin joke.
Then there’s the claim that assertions by Rudy Giuliani crony — well, ex-crony — Lev Parnas just plain compel the Senate to consider “new evidence”

Can you believe the delays we considered/granted in the Kavanaugh hearings based on no evidence? History now shows that fantastical allegations of illegality are now the bread and butter tactic of the Democrats in Congress.

They're right. This could be far worse than the Kavenaugh hearings. There may be no end to the carnage. Families might be torn apart, careers could be destroyed, good peoples' characters might be assassinated. Our country may never recover. I hope to God I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.
The Demos have their proverbial toe in the door and that's ALL they ever wanted. Their goal is NOT to impeach Trump; they know they'll never have the votes for that. Their goal all along has been to DESTROY Trump so that he cannot be REELECTED.
By allowing Pelosi to hold on to those Articles, the Republicans enabled her to buy time, which was the exactly what she needed. She used that time to drop mini "bombshells"designed to make certain Republicans squirm, which they predictably did. They fell right in line byissuing statements that in the interest of "fairness" they wanted to hear new witnesses. That's all she wanted, and she got it big time.
She can now pass the baton to the media who will carry forward the Demo's agenda 24/7 --- demanding that all new "witnesses" be heard. A la Kavenaugh. With Roberts, of all people, enforcing or "interpreting" the "rules."
McConnell should have shut Pelosi down immediately. No Articles delivered, no trial. That should have been the end.
Worst case scenario: If the Demos destroy Trump, he will fight back. But if they start annihilating everyone around him, I can see him pulling the plug to spare the country. Who's going to run as a Plan B?

The whole D.C. political establishment-both wings-seems to have NO CLUE about what the American people, the great middle of the road people, think of the unbearably cynical and power hungry actions of the House and Senate. We are totally sick of watching out tax dollars being spent on the silly and vicious plans of people like, say, Pelosi and Romney, to name a couple out of many. Donald Trump has been working, hard and alone, for us. That is what we see and why we love him. Idiots!! They will pay.

I just read a great idea from a great intellect that we should just let this impeachment "run it's course".

The reason Giuliani had to use Parnas to contact the Ukrainian officials like the fired prosecutor Shokin is because he couldn't use his normal US DOJ sources. Neither he nor the Ukrainians trusted the DOJ after seeing how they were covering up for the Obama administration and the Clintons who had powerful oligarchs in their control.

Guess Mitch McConnell still hasn't learned a thing. He's being played like a fool by Schumer just as in the Kananaugh hearings. Once you allow one witness it never ends. Then they will find another witness, then another and on and on. And like in the Kavanaugh hearings, once the witness is questioned by a republican their memories start failing and they cannot prove their allegations. And Mitch, how many witnesses were allowed to testify on Trump's behalf in the House hearings, oh, I'll tell ya Mitch, zero, nadda, none. Mitch, instead of looking like a complete fool, end this charade, dismiss it. The president was never given due process so throw it out and let this country move on. Oh, anybody know where the whistle blower is? A total freakin scam....Got it..

Re #6, The piece you left out is the MSM. These impeachment hearing will be broadcast nationwide, where the only testimony hitting the airwaves will be that which favors the Leftist Impeachment cause.
It has been shown many times that politicians will cave to the pressure brought by the MSM, and the ignorant viewers who take their slat as gospel. This will not be the slam dunk some are envisioning, more like trench warfare.

I'm sure this will get ugly, mostly because every moronic thing will be trumpeted by the media as "another bombshell" even though when the dust settles, 99.9% of it will be useless idiocy. The media does not care. They are going to attack Trump 24/7 with everything they can. The vehemence is going to be off the charts.
Mitch is a wily old dog. Will he shut down the trash? Will he be able to? He has a slim vote, after discounting RINOs, to shut down stupidity. There are a few Senators that, while generally sensible, can get stupid now and then.

NO! Just do the pure minimum and dispatch this dirty, stinking mess to the dumpster where it belongs.
