This mornings announcement by Pelosi amounted to just another over the top presentation just as the Democrats have been making all along. Again they brought up the Russians in a big way, claiming that the Russians are now somehow colluding with President Trump to help Trump win the November election, along with fraudulently claiming that they have overwhelming evidence of that. The Russians are always going to be out there feeding information and misinformation to the media and the world anytime they deem it is in the best interests of V. Putin and/or Russia and there is really nothing anyone can do about that. The impeachment managers announced by Pelosi were all in accordance with Democrat identity politics and political correctness and checked out all boxes, except maybe the LGBTQ checkoff unless I missed something?

Schiff and Nadler the Hut? She would have done better by naming Barnum and Bailey, at least the clowns would be properly dressed and made up thereby cutting the ugly factor, and making the show at least mildly amusing and perhaps downright funny. Eliminating any notion that this thing is serious. Justice Department officials are investigating a years-old classified Russian intelligence document leak and whether former F.B.I director James Comey was the person who illegally provided reporters with information, The New York Times reports. The probe is the second time federal officials have a looked into Comey regarding leaked information. The former FBI head has been frequently labeled a "leaker" by President Trump. What makes this investigation abnormal, though, is that federal prosecutors usually investigate leaks when classified information is reported by the press, not years after the fact, (Snip) Sources close familiar with the situation told the paper that prosecutors, in particular, are looking into two articles that were written by

Sen. Rand Paul is waging a fierce campaign to prevent the Senate from hearing witnesses in Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, vowing to force tough votes on his fellow Republicans if they break with the president or back Democrats' demands for new evidence. (Snip) Paul says if four or more of his GOP colleagues join with Democrats to entertain new witness testimony, he will make the Senate vote on subpoenaing the president’s preferred witnesses, including Hunter Biden and the whistleblower who revealed the Ukraine scandal — polarizing picks who moderate Republicans aren’t eager to call. So he has a simple message for his party: end the trial before witnesses are called.

“Situation quiet. The captain has been put away for the night.” The words from the movie “The Caine Mutiny” came to mind on Friday when House leaders announced that Speaker Nancy Pelosi would not move until next week in submitting the impeachment of President Trump to a Senate trial. While various Democrats have publicly grumbled about the delay, Snip) Pelosi continued a strategy that could jeopardize not just any trial but the rules governing impeachment. Indeed, Pelosi may force the Senate into a couple of unprecedented but well deserved rulings. From the outset, the ploy of Pelosi withholding the House impeachment articles was as implausible as it was hypocritical.

Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley laid out a sweeping indictment of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., arguing that her impeachment strategy backfired and gave Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the upper hand. "The delay now seems largely driven by a desire to preserve the image of Pelosi as a master strategist despite a blunder of the first order," Turley wrote (Snip) "There was no reason why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would make concessions to get an impeachment that he loathed," Turley similarly suggested that Pelosi pushed impeachment out of "vanity" and would pay a "high price" for doing so.

Yesterday, Michael Flynn’s attorney, Sidney Powell, filed a Motion to Withdraw his Guilty Plea, arguing the government breached its obligations under the plea agreement the retired general had entered with the special counsel’s office in late 2017. Prosecutors had promised in that plea agreement to “file a departure motion pursuant to Section 5K1.1 of the Sentencing Guidelines” if Flynn provided substantial assistance to the government. The government kept that pledge—until it didn’t. On December 4, 2018, prosecutors working for the special counsel’s office filed a Memorandum in Aid of Sentencing, stating that the government has moved for a downward departure pursuant to Section 5K1.1, to reflect Flynn’s “substantial assistance to the government.”
