Joe Biden, The Democrats’ Bag Man

Joe Biden says he is 100% in favor of banning plastic bags in the U.S. At this point, it might be better to ask Biden and the rest of the Democrats running for president what they would allow Americans to have. It would likely be a short list. Biden’s position on the issue was revealed last week at an Iowa campaign stop when a woman asked him about his “focus.” “In Kenya, we are trying to clean the environment, no plastic bags, you go with your own bags,” she said. Biden’s response: “I agree with you 100%. We should not

Just sent this off to our local city councilor. His board is intent on handicapping grocery stores by eliminating the bags.

Overheard a comment at our local grocery store that it wouldn't be long before they would be "bag free". Betcha at that point they would have bags for sale. If they do, they should at least have some of better quality than what they use now. I loathe the thought of having to drag shopping bags around.

Was there something wrong with using brown paper grocery bags? They used to come in all sizes and you could put more in a single paper bag than using 4 or 5 smaller plastic ones.

Anybody feeling virtuous about their use of paper bags has never lived downwind or downstream of a paper mill, never driven past thousands of clear-cut acres of pulpwood plantations, furrowed by gullies of stormwater runoff, never seen the purpose-set, duff-clearing forest fires turning the sky black with rancid smoke.. .So, sue me, I rather like my flimsy, easily-stored plastic grocery bags, used and reused and recycled.

hey flybynight, the reason paper mills stink is because Randolph Hearst needed a way to profit off all his pine trees, so he banned the use of Hemp for paper. Lookitup

Here is a bit of history for you people. The recycling thing really began in the 1970s. Here is how it happened. A large garbage scow, fully loaded, went up and down the East coast, and the captain couldn't find anyone to accept the garbage. The leftists said it was because our landfills were overflowing. That was false. The real reason no one would accept the garbage was because the captain did not have the money to pay the landfill fees. Out of that incident was born the recycling movement.

In the immediate aftermath of Iranian missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq – apparently designed to save face rather than kill Americans – is it an overstatement to apply Orwell’s ultra-totalitarian slogans to the left in the free country of the United States of America today? “War is peace,” The Party in “1984” assured its servile proles, “freedom is slavery,” and “ignorance is strength.” After all, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi assured us that the people’s elected representatives could cast their votes for Obamacare while being entirely ignorant of the contents of the law. And the “Medicare for All” being pushed hard

Last week, 18 people crossed the border illegally into Arizona hoping they could exploit a loophole in U.S. asylum policy to stay in the country. Instead, they found themselves shipped back to Mexico while their asylum claims are reviewed. In the midst of impeachment mania and the killing of an Iranian general, this event captured little attention. But it’s part of a broader campaign that the Trump administration has quietly embarked upon to crack down on illegal border crossings. And – even without the wall – these policies are having a huge impact. The 18 migrants were sent back to Mexico thanks

The 2020 Democratic presidential field is in near unanimous agreement that fracking has to be banned or at least regulated to death over time. It plays well to the party’s base, especially its green fringe. It’s also an endorsement of recession. Joe Biden, currently atop the Democratic primary polls, recently said he would “love to” ban fracking “right now,” and would also “love to make sure we can’t use any oil or gas, period,” reports Common Dreams, a website that caters to leftist and socialist devotees. But the decelerated Delawarean’s plan is to “transition away from” fracking rather than killing it all at once. So put him in the “slow death”

The year 2020 looks to be a watershed for American power and prestige in the world. In the coming months, both North Korea and China will get a better idea of how far they can push the U.S., be it in different strategic venues: nuclear for Pyongyang’s Kim Jong-un, and primarily economic (for the time being) for Beijing’s Xi Jinping. In the Middle East, however, the answers regarding the nerve of the world’s lone superpower, and consequently the balance of power between Islamic forces, appear to be just around the corner. Will President Trump allow Iran to gain a permanent

Global warming protests, past the point of absurdity long ago, have become even more extreme thanks to a relatively new group from England. The founder’s background shows exactly why the organization has chosen to engage in the mindless behavior it’s become known for. She’s a “lifelong activist,” reports CNN, who has “spent decades working on an array of social justice campaigns,” though few ever lead to real change. Why would House Democrats put forward articles of impeachment that are laughably weak and have no chance of removing President Donald Trump from office? Most of the speculation has been that the impeachment will nevertheless hurt Trump’s reelection chances. There’s another possibility that’s even more insidious. Democratic Party leaders can’t possibly be unaware of the fact that their impeachment case has no merit. Despite the endless talk of bribery, extortion, campaign finance violations and other supposed crimes Trump has committed, not one of the articles of impeachment accuses Trump of breaking any of those laws, or any federal law for that matter.

Top-tier Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, who’s got a good chance of securing the nomination, now finds herself stuck in a pretty embarrassing one. She and Pete Buttigieg in recent days have been playing a tit-for-tat game of who benefited from capitalism more, the youthful South Bend mayor with his lucrative gig at management consulting firm McKinsey & Co., or Warren making nearly $2 million for a string of clients as a corporate lawyer. Warren felt compelled to provide the details and the fees she received, and it must

The Washington Post editorial Wednesday on the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment report gave the game away. “The Democratic report lacks direct testimony of Mr. Trump confirming the quid pro quo … It also acknowledges ‘unanswered questions’” – and “the speedy referral” of the impeachment inquiry from the intelligence panel to the House Judiciary Committee “smacks of political expediency.” Intel panel chairman Adam Schiff was urged to do some more digging so the committee can “provide a fuller and, to many Americans, more persuasive picture of his guilt,” the Post’s editorial board said under the title, “There’s more to learn” – perhaps the Freudian slip of the year.

Amid falling support for impeachment and worries that it will backfire against Democrats, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff released a 300-page report he says proves that President Donald Trump committed high crimes and misdemeanors worthy of removing him from office. And if you read only the summary, you might think they’ve got the goods. The House impeachment report claims to have “uncovered a months-long effort by President Trump to use the powers of his office to solicit foreign interference on his behalf in the 2020 election.” (You can read the report here.) The drop in support for impeachment in the polls is increasing pressure on Democrats to strike a deal on the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). House Democrats have been eager to prove that impeachment is not getting in the way of legislative progress, a point Republicans have repeatedly pressed. For months, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has insisted that House Democrats were working to get consensus on President Trump’s signature trade deal, which would update the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). She has also been adamant that impeachment would not affect USMCA talks, or vice versa, and that the tracks are totally separate.

Late last year Chick-fil-A ruffled feathers across the fruited plain when they announced they would no longer provide charitable donations to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Salvation Army. So when Chick-fil-A made their decision public, many Christians accused the company of backing down to a bunch of militant LGBTQ bullies. And in response many of Chick-fil-A's staunchest supporters flew the coop.

In January 2014, the then-president of France, François Hollande, arrived in England for talks with Prime Minister David Cameron on military and nuclear cooperation. No one in the British press really cared about the official reason for the visit, though. He had flown into England as the storm still swirled back home.
