Shocking video apparently shows the moment that a Ukrainian airliner was struck by an Iranian missile moments after lifting off from an airport in Tehran. The 19-second clip, obtained by the New York Times, shows a night sky suddenly illuminated by a flash of light, followed by a deafening boom. By the clip’s close, the sounds of sirens can be heard in the background. US officials said Thursday that it was “highly likely” the plane, which had 176 people aboard, was struck by an Iranian anti-aircraft missile early Wednesday. There were no survivors. The crash came shortly after Iran unleashed

Was the missile bought using the billions Obama/Kerry gave them? That makes it Obama's fault right?

No surprise - except that I was wondering how long it would take libs to blame Trump. Looks like Barbara Boxer has already done so!

Sheer and tragic incompetence on the Iranian military. The last week has turned their country into a bad joke. First, they try to storm our embassy in Baghdad and create either a hostage situation or Benghazi like killing. Then their 'revered leader' boldly flies into Iraq to plot another attempt and gets vaporized. 56 people die in a stampede at his funeral and scores are injured. In response to Solomaini getting his 72 virgins, the Iranians fire a bunch of missiles at US bases with little effect and now this. Some trigger happy fool thinks a civilian airliner is some kind of threat and kills almost 200 people. Not a good week for the mullahs at all.

Awful convenient that someone just *happened* to be filming a routine aircraft taking off at night. Not like they *expected* to see something interesting, no sir. /s

How did this person know to use their cellphone (obvious because it was not steady like a CCTV camera) and take a picture of a black sky just in case they caught an airliner being shot down?

I'm with #6. This looks fishy. You couldn't even see the plane on the video, why would someone just be coincidentally doing this?
This was either a setup, or it's a fake.

Wasn't the flight delayed an hour? Wonder why? Off the wall suggestion: fire missiles at US bases and in about an hour we could expect incoming response. Take out this airliner and blame DJT.

What does "unintentional" mean in this case? Someone was just having fun firing off Russian built Tor SAMs and the Ukrainian airliner ran into it? How is the firing of a complex system like the Tor "unintentional".
I'm not accepting any explanation for what happened until I see who the Ukrainians were that were killed on the flight and any diplomatic cargo that might have been destroyed.

Some good points. Was this a deliberate attack by Iran to kill someone on that plane yet make it look as if they weren't being directly confrontational and it was an "accident"? Were they being particularly sneaky or are they particularly incompetent? It's tragic either way.

Engine fire caused by high explosives. Don't expect to ever see that "black box".

Yep. An airliner suddenly "crashes" in the middle of the biggest military attack that the Iranians have run in a couple of decades, maybe ever? Coincidence? Running into your old college roommate in an airport is the limit of my believing in coincidences.
Third world idiots with fancy automatic SAM systems......as I said earlier. Give a chimp a gun, somebody is going to get shot.

SAM systems like this are very likely to have an "automatic intercept" mode, since when there are serious numbers of incoming targets, frequently even skilled operators can get distracted or overwhelmed and miss a critical incoming "contact".
I'll bet dollars against cookies that some fool had his SAM system in 'auto intercept' mode because they were at their highest alert level and yellow fluid was running down his leg. And the mindless machine, set to kill whatever flew into it's assigned sector.....did what it was told to do.
Boom!
OOPS!

The video doesn't show a darn thing but the explosion is rather convincing. I'm guessing that the missile crew was on high alert for American retaliation and shot off a heat seeker in the direction of the plane. The odds of an accidental strike are astronomical.

The video show a SAM striking something and exploding. But, resolution is too low to tell that it was in fact a commercial airliner. Assuming it was, surmise that a militia unit didn't get the memo or misunderstood its instructions to stand down. Or just plain got trigger happy.

Also, after the explosion one would expect to see a fireball from Jet A suddenly igniting. This video may be a fake.

No radio calls at all from the crew on this. The SA-15 warhead detonates on proximity, is a HE fragmentation type. Probably killed the crew or destroyed the electrical system.
I expect that the video came when someone saw the SAM launch, but didn't get much of the missiles climb, just the impact.
It would have taken around 4 or 5 seconds from launch to detonation, just barely time get out a phone and shoot a short video.
Pretty good chance this is legit.

So how was this PT's fault. It seems to me Iran didn't bother to tell the airliner that missiles were going to be in the air and not to take off. But then, Iran doesn't care one iota on who or what gets blown up so long as there's bodies to show and the US media and demonrats can be counted on to say it's PT's fault.
