Recent elections in Virginia have placed the Virginia government within arm's length of widespread gun confiscation. Around eighty-four counties and cities throughout the Commonwealth have pledged to ignore and resist these measures. Some Virginia elected officials have called for the National Guard to carry out such confiscation, which would imply the arrest and disarmament of local officials who get in the way. Governor Northam has stopped short of adopting such an idea, but he will not rule it out. Additional stories indicate that the government will disable internet and telephone access to affected areas during the crackdown.

This article gets carried away. Having said that, I kind of like the idea that a state that just fell into complete Democrat control is now essentially declaring martial law against peaceful gun owners who aren't breaking any other law than a law passed after the Dems took over. Even if theoretically speaking, phone and internet could be cut off, everyone's phone camera would work and they'd drive to where things worked, and we'd have Tianenman Square in Virginia. So if it happened I would want it to happen during the summer of 2020, when it is useful for election purposes.
And I don't think it will happen, but I sure want some Democrats to start suggesting it as a possibility.

And after the "authorities" shut off internet and phone access, what's left? HAM radio? In Other News, we find the California "authorities" at Cal Fire sending up a trial balloon to shut down HAM radio, as well, by requiring HAM operators to pay thousands of dollars in fees to keep their repeaters on top of mountains on "public" land, in the interests of "public safety," of course. With no internet, phones, HAM radio or other communications, the leftists can do just about whatever they want, and who's to know? The MSM certainly won't report the truth. Perhaps we better dig our old CB radios out... breaker, breaker, 1-9.

If sanctuary cities worked for immigration, then why would sanctuary cities and counties work for 2nd amendment?
How is it legal to enact a law, and have it apply to things that were legal previously?
If this is the new standard, then they could enact a law that removes your tax credit, tax reduction, etc...Right?

Shutting down HAM repeaters affects only a small portion of HAM radio. True, there are many HAM operators with only hand held 2 meter radios but far more use bands that don’t require repeaters.

Blackface Northram's intent to confiscate firearms should serve notice that Democrats will disarm citizens if given a chance. All to be able to control the citizenry.

While many can say the leftards can do what they want, a prepared populace can do what they want with the commies, too. It goes both ways. This is also why the citizenry needs the same tools as their tax dollars buy for combat arms soldiers, plus. We are the government, the deep state members are just rogue employees that need hanging for treason. Gov Blackface might just be bright enough to regret opening Pandora's box, but then again, he's a leftard, so probably not.

Here's a suggestion: keep an eye on these tyrants, and if they send in the guard and shut down an area, let citizen groups move in and arrest them.
Frankly, if the Virginia National Guard follow this governor's orders, prepare to charge them with war crimes. His orders are not legal orders.

This is getting scary. IF the governor goes thru with what he threatens, how can he NOT see himself as a tyrant?
I know, I know, we are the enemy ... (no sarcasm intended.)

FTA: " The Czech citizen response ( to their government putting tanks in the streets) is a model for at least a short-term response among the people of Virginia now. When the Soviet tanks made their first appearance on August 21, 1968, the head of a Prague film school immediately gathered his students and distributed cameras and film."
I believe the Italian response to Mussolini during WWII is far more appropriate and effective. Of course one could film that, too.

Northam better pay attention to what happened in Little Rock in 1957 when the Governor tried to use his National Guard for tyrannical purposes...Federal troops in the form of 101st Airborne were sent in...does anybody think the President will allow this tyranny...I think not

Using the National Guard to enforce the law is prohibited per the Posse Comitatus Act. Cutting off the internet and telephones is a restriction of speech and is against the law. Virginia governor should be removed from office as he is not making decisions within well established law and the Constitution. He is everything the Democrats accuse Trump of doing.

#15, Posse Comitatus Act prohibits the use of Title 10 Federal Forces for domestic law enforcement. Title 32 National Guard Forces, however, can be used for law enforcement under the authority of that state’s governor. As mentioned, POTUS can federalize a state’s National Guard in an emergency.
Frankly, I don’t think Northam and his AG have the guts to even try using VANG with this stunt. Take it to court for 2A violations and recall them. I personally like tarring, feathering and then running these bastards out town on a rail. But I guess that’s so 18th century.

As some here have already pointed out, there is a lot of speculation here.
FTA: "Nearby governors might even contribute their own troops to help Governor Northam."
Only the President can call out the National Guard to serve across state lines. (They become Federalized, becoming Federal troops, same as the Regular Army and Reserve.)
The Governor of Virginia has no authority over the National Guard of North Carolina, West (By God) Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia. The governors (or whoever for DC) of those states have not authority in those states nor do they have any authority from their states to enforce the laws in other states, so that would require those state legislatures to authorize such action.
That's a lot of politicians going bat-sh*t crazy all at once, even for Progressives.
And even supposing that any of the National Guards would do it.

Citing all these laws they are in violation of is pointless. He doesn't care about the laws or the courts or a recall or anything else. Those are all paper pusher answers to a soldier's question.

Murdering newborns may be a lot easier than stealing property from Virginia adults. Speaking for my neighbors only. Not everybody lives in liberal land Northeast Virginia, i.e, Washington County, Va. Change your name, and affiliation, please, so the rest of Virginia won’t be ashamed of you.

You can put Virginia into the anti-Constitution, police-state column.
What if Virginia needed tourism but NOBODY who is proudly American CAME?
If VA can unconstitutionally persecute their own citizens, just imagine what they
are capable of doing to anyone else. CONTROL, for these tyrants, is everything.
Just Say NO.

The liberals in the Virginia state government are secretly wetting their pants right now. They know full well what will happen if they attempt to carry out their gun confiscation plans. It will be an epic showdown and will get 24 hour cable news coverage. They won’t win it. They are looking for a graceful way to back off.

Most people outside of urban areas i.e. in places where the fiercest resistance to gun confiscation is likely to occur are connected to the internet via satellite or old fashioned modem. Interrupting the internet in Northern Virginia where all the liberals live and vote would be an economic disaster as the place is full of tech companies dependent on internet access. Shutting down either the net or telephone service is interference with interstate commerce. I doubt the feds or the federal courts would allow a state to do that in any widespread manner. A lot of stuff being talked about is just to stir up folks, and that is not a good thing.
The state of Virginia cannot toss the 4th amendment in the ash can and it cannot regulate interstate commerce and it is highly unlikely the commander-in-chief of the military would allow some dip-shit governor in blackface to roll federally paid for tanks through the streets for house to house searches. He would call the National Guard up for federal service just as presidents did during the civil rights era rather than allow some jackass governor to play Joe Stalin. Everybody needs to take a deep breath here.

Explain how you intend to "shut down" internet to these locations Poindexter? It's not just cables anymore and do you also intend to shut down all banks and other businesses. Yea...that will really work out for you! It's hard violating the Constitution!
