On Sunday’s broadcast of ABC’s “This Week,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) argued if the Senate impeachment trial did not have witness and documents, it would be “rigged.” He argued he believed it would not be an exoneration for President Donald Trump if that is the case. Van Hollen said, “We’re focusing on the importance of a fair trial, and all Americans, I think, understand that a fair trial means you get to call your witnesses. Senator Murkowski put her finger on the big issue; is Senator McConnell going to try to rig this trial right from the start working in lockstep with the president

The exoneration will come in the form of the 2020 election.

What I hate most about dems isn't their cancerous ideology, it's their hypocrisy.
The Republicans are doing it exactly how dems did it when clinton was impeached.
Yet now that the shoe is on the other foot, listen to them yelping about it.
This whole thing makes me want to puke.

I didn’t know Van Hollen was still alive.
Still popping up on Sunday to drop his load; then goes back into his gopher hole.

I think President Trump is totally fine with there being witnesses and documents at his trial.

When there's a rigged investigation, there are no credible charges.

The Dems strategy is to implant in the voter's minds the adage that "Where's there's smoke, there's fire." Just keep harping how Trump is a criminal, even though he isn't. They are hoping that enough fence-sitting voter's will vote for a Socialist who will appoint Obama to the Supreme Court. (Which Obama --- Barak or Michelle? Both are lawyers.)

#8, neither would ever survive a senate confirmation hearing. That would make their "voluntary" surrender of their law licenses fair game. Both "coluntarily" relinquished their law licenses to avoid a very public and messy disbarment.
They, of course, say that they gave them up to save a couple hundred bucks in license and dues.
Yeah, I believe that.

Could Van Holen tell me the names of the witnesses that President Trumps lawyers called during the 'fair' democRAT inquisitions?

It isn’t a valid impeachment. There are no high crimes or even misdemeanors. If the impeachment was rigged, the only answer is to have a two minute trial in the Senate.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) is the one wanting to "rig" the impeachment trial in the Senate. The Constitution is specific about what the duties are for the Senate. If Hollen gets his way, it will continue the trashing of the Constitution begun by the Democrats in the House. After trampling the Bill of Rights into the mud by Schiff and Nader they want to ignore the separation of powers between the House and Senate by dictating that The Senate allow the Democrats to continue their "investigation" (aka, witch hunt) in the Senate.
The Democrats claim that they want to "preserve the Constitution" is a sadistic, hypocritical lie.

If you have a rigged impeachment, there is no impeachment of Trump. Trump does not need exoneration. Trump did nothing wrong, so expunge the exoneration misdirection.

What Sen. Van Hollen is saying is that unless the Senate convicts President Trump and removes him from office it must have been a "rigged" trial. That's not a trial, that's a lynch mob.

There is zero need for "exoneration". We still have a country in which you are innocent until proven guilty of a crime. Van Hollen and company can't even name the frigging crime. They just want one more chance at an open-ended witch hunt.

I'm assuming then, in order to make sure the trial isn't rigged, that he'll make sure any Democratic Senator that has run for president this year will recuse themselves to avoid a conflict of interest....

All politicians do this, whether they be government, industry, military or sales. They have a predetermined desired outcome and then they invent things to say to persuade people in the direction of that desired outcome. It doesn't have to be accurate or even make sense.
Maybe that's why I hate them all so much. They are all such phonies.

I always thought that "fairness" in a trial was for the ACCUSED, not the accuser!! Silly me to think back to the Constitution at a time like this!

Ah what's up doc? Hey Van moron there will be no trial and all your noise is just that. Do you think your party will survive if the non-whistleblower and Clinesmith testify? When you bait and switcheroo the Judiciary Committee with the Intelligence Committee to shut out the representation of 63 million Americans, you've shown yourselves to be enemies of the Republic PERIOD

If you have a rigged impeachment there is no need for a trial. The President is already exonerated.
