You might think that what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called the “sad” and “solemn” pre-Christmas impeachment special was a one-off. The Democrats owed it to the country, you see—they had (are you sitting down?) a “duty to the Constitution” to impeach Donald Trump, otherwise (as Representative Al Green of Texas put it) he might well be re-elected. We certainly can’t have that! Hence the show of those “sad, very sad” faces Pelosi described and the memo from headquarters with the instructions, “Don’t cheer. Keep it solemn.” (Snip)As I say, I do not understand what “cunning plan” they have in the works.

Yes, it is true that they were talking impeachment before Pres. Trump took office. All the politicians involved in the Deep State thought that Hillary would win and nothing would come out about all of their corruption. Quick get rich schemes by laundering tax payer money to Pelosi's son, Kerry's step son and Biden's drug ridden son. Not to mention the Obama Admin spying on Trump's campaign and framing innocent people. Well, we now have President Trump that will call out each and everyone of them. I hope the Durham investigation brings many indictments!

I think it's going to come as a HUGE shock when Democrats lose the House and can no longer waste time on their zest for Impeachment. I think voters are mad as hell that their Representative just spent two years on Impeachment and spent zero time doing what they promised to do for the VOTERS back home! Nancy is going to lose her Throne in November and I will say right now that if that happens, she will retire! So will a lot of the Dems who are old, but love to be in Power. Once that is taken away from them, I think where will be mass retirements. It's time to remake the Democrat House! I think starting with a Landslide of Republicans winners is a good plan!

Does anyone have a source to read and print the WaPo article from 1/20/2017? I keep hitting a paywall. Would like to have my students read this when classes resume in Jan.

FTA: "I doubt this will happen, but then I doubted they would go through with the impeachment the first time."
Well, THEY haven't gone through with impeachment a first time, and NEVER will. This was a dodge by the Democrat/UNIPARTY leadership to neutralize the radicals who became the "spokesmen" for impeaching the MF. The "moderates" reluctantly and solemnly voted "aye", and then got behind Pelosi to demand a "fair trial" before the Articles would be sent over. The House GOPe gains MAGA cred by standing tall together on impeachment. The GOPe/UNIPARTY Senate doesn't want a trial, and so Mitch and the gang, afraid their profiteering shakedown schemes "spreading it around" with kickbacks would be exposed, isn't going to budge giving Pelosi and themselves "Hell yeah!" cover with their constituents. And PDT isn't concerned because "impeachment" is just another cudgel with which to beat his opponents and rile the MAGA/KAG crowd.

I first learned of the Deep State while researching and writing about the Obama-Clinton link to Alinsky, Cloward and Piven, and George Soros. This was long before Donald Trump came into the picture and ran for the presidency based on doing away with it. No wonder we've seen a nonstop war on 45 ever since. Vets for Trump 2020

The problem for the House democrats is that their days are numbered. This time next year will be all tears, confusion, and recrimination. All things ''impeachment'' will go away. Pelosi will have to surrender the gavel. It's doubtful that she will be voted as her party's Speaker again, assuming that she doesn't retire to ''spend more time with family!''

May it be, on Inauguration Day, 2020, as the great American, Mark Twain, said in Huckleberry Finn, “all tears and flap doodle” for the Democrats as Donald John Trump continues his journey to make and keep America the greatest and grandest country in the world.
