The Navy SEALs showed up one by one, wearing hoodies and T-shirts instead of uniforms, to tell investigators what they had seen. Visibly nervous, they shifted in their chairs, rubbed their palms and pressed their fists against their foreheads. At times they stopped in midsentence and broke into tears. “Sorry about this,” Special Operator First Class Craig Miller, one of the most experienced SEALs in the group, said as he looked sideways toward a blank wall, trying to hide that he was weeping. “It’s the first time — I’m really broken up about this.” Video recordings of the interviews obtained by The New York Times,

With a “team” like that, I’m surprised Gallagher got out alive.

If we've learned anything in the past 4 years, it's that whenever we're see news reports like this, that clearly intend to make POTUS look bad, they turn out to be exaggerated, twisting the truth beyond recognition, or just plain lies. I suspect this article is no different.
"...interviews obtained by The New York Times..." is a dead giveaway that this is fake news.

They should be ashamed to call themselves ‘seals’. Maybe these wimps went to the John Kerry training facility for puffs drills.

I do not believe for one second that a team of battle tested Navy Seals went crawling to the NYT to give interviews while wringing their hands and crying like babies. No way.

They keep quoting his "fellow SEALs" claiming that he was "toxic" and "evil," but nowhere were there ANY examples given as to why they felt that way. It seems the least his former colleagues could do would be to give some examples of his "toxic" leadership, or situations where he displayed "evil." Anyone who has been in the military can attest to seeing some "hard charger" leader that comes down hard on his men and is thought about very unfavorably. The best example of that is the movie, "The D.I." with Jack Webb. Was his leadership "toxic" or was he simply getting men ready for battle? You decide.

We train guys like this to kill efficiently; without hesitation or remorse. If not for the uniform, they would be called mass murderers or serial killers. Instead, because they all wear the same outfit, we call them heroes.
Well, until we don't.

Congratulations, New York Times. You just outed the names of several SEAL Special Operators who are now on every deranged militant Islamist hit list. These guys were not "junior members" of the platoon, they were all E-6s (Gallagher was an E-7). I can't imagine what they thought they had to gain by squealing to the NYT.
Given the conflicting stories and the prosecutorial misconduct I don't know what to believe in this case. My gut tells me Gallagher was an effective SEAL who occasionally crossed the line. Par for the course in this filthy "War Against Terror."

These are taped interviews with investigators that the NYTimes got hold of. The NYTimes did not interview the SEALS.

I would vote to acquit for reasonable doubt. Prosecution did not make its case.
But I am also proud that my country's laws still make a distinction, in practice as well as in theory, between legitimate lethality in acts of war, and outright murder, e.g. deliberate targeting of noncombatants or killing captured disarmed combatants.
If the facts of the case were what the prosecution said, and I were morally sure of it, I would have voted to convict.
We are not ISIS. And you morally become ISIS by acting like ISIS.
I love a strong, unflinching, moral U.S. military and I know my USMC Captain, Iraq veteran son would say the same.

Seventy-five years ago we and our allies were waging total war on the Germans and the Japanese. Civilians died by the hundreds of thousands. Very simple rules of engagement: Bomb the crap out of them until they capitulate. I don't think the term "collateral damage" had been invented. It sure was not a consideration. It is hard to imagine one of these SEALs hunkered over a Norden bombsight in a B-17 preparatory to dropping several tons of high explosives on military targets in a German city. The Brits went one better. They bombed at night and didn't worry a whole lot about strategic targets. Blitz payback time.

The NYT has a proud history of making stuff up to further their socialist/communist agenda. Occasionally after the damage has been done they sort of admit they were lying. These 'witnesses' sound like they are over the edge and no longer fit for service.

They were fighting ISIS, which has no human qualities whatsoever. Don't order a man into battle and then criticize how he kills.

So good that President Trump fired the Secretary of the Navy over our valiant Seal Gallagher. The idea in war is to kill the others. Well done, our hero.

Damn, if it's in the NYT, then it must be true.
[wait...] [wait...]
BWAhahaaha!
I do not know whether Gallagher is innocent or not; but I do know that if NYT, WaPo, or CNN says something, I suspect it not to be true, unless it is supported by hard evidence. They deserve the benefit of the doubt less than he does.
