Vatican City—Pope Francis warned Saturday that "rigidity" in living out the Christian faith is creating a "minefield" of hatred and misunderstanding in a world where Christianity is increasingly irrelevant. Francis called for Vatican bureaucrats to instead embrace change during his annual Christmas greetings to the cardinals, bishops and priests who work in the Holy See. Francis' message appeared aimed at conservative and traditionalist Catholics, including within the Vatican Curia, who have voiced increasing opposition to his progressive-minded papacy.(Snip) Francis issued a stark reality check to the men in the Sala Clementina of the Apostolic Palace, acknowledging that Christianity no longer holds

I assume by "rigidity" he means the time-tested Biblical truth that was given to mankind by Divine inspiration. Make no mistake this pope is no messenger of God.

So obeying God, who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, is now considered rigid by this guy? Is it any wonder that people are abandoning the Church or not respecting it any longer? Christians who obey God understand what is happening, and I say that toleration of caving to worldly trends like Frank should be shunned, not tolerated. I must admit my patience for the Catholics who put up with this obvious ignorance and abandonment of God's word is quickly disappearing.

He should denounce turgidity in the priest class. And once that’s fixed- and i mean torn out of the church so that it’s no longer a haven for rot such as this pope- maybe he can meditate on the church’s role in the world.

So, Francis believes that tradition is dynamic. I guess that means he'd approve of my new and flexible tradition of not attending Sunday Mass.

God is sovereign and He asks us to walk in his ways. That is accomplished through reading his word, the Bible. Some churches seems to be getting away from his word. Sounds like the pope might be too.

The church declined when the clergy are more openly sinful than their congregations. If the shepherd is not faithful, the sheep will not be led.

As a protestant, I can ignore the Pope, but I pity my Catholic friends who have to at least pretend to listen to this fraud.

My observation is that the decline in the Church is due to the betrayal by the people who make up much of the bureaucratic structure. Priests who refuse to keep their 'dangly bids' in their pants, and bishops who, instead of promptly throwing them out of the clergy, instead hide them and move them around to fresh innocent parishes where they can continue their evil ways, is a large part of the problem. This 'anti-Pope', who on the one hand disrespects the long-time moral values of the Church, and on the other hand makes pronouncements about scientific subjects on which his 'knowledge' comes from globalist activists pushing pseudo-science, is another strong factor in the decline.
The true Church is founded on Truth, it is not a contestant in a popularity contest. If a large part of the population become wicked and turn away from the Truth, that is the population's problem on the Day of Reckoning.

The Bible warned us about false prophets. What's funny is that it didn't tell us that they'd be so hilariously obvious.

All tradition is not truth.
But all truth has been a tradition for a long time.
Beware of "new truths" presented in religious context!

Yo, Frankie! I don't know about Christians in general but you alone are responsible for the thousands of Catholics who have left the church since the fog-shrouded events surrounding your mysterious elevation to the Vatican. Rigidity in morals and beliefs have served well for 2,000 years no matter which way the world wandered. Go sprinkle some holy water on yourself, if you dare.

For those, like the fake pope (forgive my redundancy and sorry to my Catholic friends), who are creating this bold new world, be bold and admit who you really are and what you're really attempting to do. There's nothing new under the sun, so you're not the first to try it.

I'll try again.
So, now we have "The Living Bible" which is "flexible", so we can get rid of obsolete stuff like homosexuality being a sin, and various other "inconveniences" which get in the way of modern Satanistic lifestyles.
This pope is evil.

Has this guy ever even read the New Testament? Jesus told his Disciples (and us) that we would be hunted down and killed for our faith in Him. There's no kumbaya b.s. when it comes to being a Christian.

# 3 - Catholics have no control over who is a priest, a cardinal or a pope. I agree that this is the worst excuse for a pope ever. I still wonder how they got rid of a living pope and installed this man. Must have cost Soros a bunch.

In other words, there is no right and wrong. So does that mean that the 10 commandments are mere suggestions?

I don't know but it sounds pretty rigid to me. Maybe the Pope should read the Bible.

I agree with most of the above posters' responses to what they see as a monumental scandal. The Catholic Church has always been composed of people who are conceived in Original Sin, and a number in both the laity and the hierarchy, have given in to their evil inclinations. It's been handled BADLY!! As a devoted and faithful Catholic, I know that when Jesus Christ called Simon to head His Church, He said, "Thou art Simon Peter, the Rock, I shall build my Church on, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." He NEVER said Thou art Simon Sandy, and you shall SHIFT AND DRIFT with the corrupt practice of the times, attempting to make My Church relevant!! Also, Pope Emeritus Benedict was in declining health at the time of his voluntary resignation, at the age of 86, and was losing the vision in his left eye. He will turn 93 the middle of April, and I believe he has completely lost the vision in that left eye. His life within the Vatican Gardens has been a time of prayerful reflection w/o the enormous stress of running the Papacy and the Curia. If he had stayed on in that position, it would have shortened his life, and he'd be gone by now. Pray for the current occupant, as there are many questionable circumstances surrounding his election as pontiff. Pray, also, that this current cabal of cardinals have not already selected his replacement in Cardinal Tagle of the Philippines. He was elevated to the cardinalate by Francis, and he'll be just a younger version of him. Lord deliver us!!

The 10 commandments are in fact commandments. Even we mentally deficient Jews know that, Pope or no Pope. The rest is God's will.

By “rigid” one assumes the unholy father means believing in one way to God and that is through the nail scarred hands of Jesus Christ? It is really easy to believe that all religions lead to God! It’s WAY harder to understand Grace and Faith through The Holy Spirit! But it is truth! A never changing truth that my poor miserable soul hangs on to with all the strength that God gives me! The Anti Christ pope knows nothing of free Grace! It must be earned and paid for by Works! Luther was right!

Why doesn't this Pope concern himself with some truly serious needs of his flock. If he could just read both of these articles and then act on them, he would show us that he practices what he preaches when he tells others about pastoral care:
1) Article, dated December 22, 2019, in Breitbart - "Italy - Nigerian Mafia Forcing Young Girls Into Prostitution", by Chris Tomlison.
2) Article, dated December 20, 2019, at Church Militant site: "Nigerian Martyrdom Continues", by Paul Murano.

While I agree with the Pope that the Church should reach out to everyone, just as a doctor visits the houses of the sick, I believe the example set by Jesus, although not attainable, is what all people need to strive for. You can't just throw it out to increase dues-paying membership.

Rigidity? Like men are men and women are women and there is no such thing as gender fluidity?? Or that marriage is between a man and a woman?
The anti-Pope is only part of the reason I am only technically a Catholic....not practicing. I have my own relationship with G-d. I don't need a corrupted church.
