House Democrats have begun pressing Speaker Nancy Pelosi to force the Senate to tailor Donald Trump's upcoming constitutional trial to their wishes—by refusing to send the articles of impeachment they passed Wednesday night until Majority Leader Mitch McConnell agrees to their terms. McConnell isn't amused. He plans to call her bluff in a mid-morning floor speech, saying she's afraid to hand him the baton because she knows the articles are weak.
'Pelosi suggested that House Democrats may be too afraid to even transmit their shoddy work product to the Senate,' he will say, mocking her suggesting in a post-vote press conference that she'll hold the two articles

I certainly hope he'll point out the contradiction which completely exposes the sham:
Just a few days ago Speaker Pelosi said impeachment was a matter of extreme urgency. Why would she now want a delay?

The "impeachment" is fraudulent, in addition to shoddy.

I'm not a big fan of the turtle, but he's proving to be a smart old buzzard as majority leader.

Sen. McConnell, you don't need to do squat for Nan and her thugs. Have opening arguments this morning, closing arguments this afternoon, and vote to dismiss the articles tonight.

The impeachment was nothing more than a 2020 campaign event. They presented their message to the whole country without having to spend a dime in advertising. The articles mean nothing to them, because they are loaded with innuendos and lies they were not able to prove. the Impeachment last night was a show and nothing more. They got their mileage out it. The Dems have always been good at defining their opponent, especially with the media doing their dirty work.
Republicans finally figured out to brand the word HATE to the Democrat party and Nancy Pelosi.
Tonight is another Dem debate, does anyone care?

The correct response is 'the Senate had no input as to how you ran your kangaroo court in the House, you will have no input in how we proceed with whatever you send to us. We are in charge of the Senate, and you, Nancy, have no say. Put up or shut up.'

Another response could be that the Senate trial will be as fair as the impeachment inquiry.

Brief summary of House Democrats' shampeachment and extortive hold: (1) abuse of lack of power, and (2) obstruction of the Senate.

Shoddy does not begin to describe the articles. Article 1...DJT was following laws enacted by congress. Article 2...the issued subpeonas were not legal...even congress dropped that sham

So the Democrats want fairness in the procedings? I always thought the accused deserved fairness, not the prosecutors.

When workers and management have an unresolved issue, the workers strike!
The Republican and Democratic parties are so far apart it’s time for both of them to STRIKE and be locked into a room and resolve their issues then present it to the AMERICAN people for approval.
Forfeit all pay and allowances until approved by a special election.

I totally agree with what I believe OP's are suggesting - proceed without the articles. Everyone on the left portrays Nancy as a wily pol... I think not. Just because she's speaker doesn't mean much. She's the best they've got, which isn't much.

Heck, I'm of the opinion that Mitch should have convened the Senate immediately following the House vote and summarily dismissed both counts then and there. No need to wait for Queen Nancy's permission to take the obvious course of action.

To #1s point, the Impeachment was urgent. The Senate trial, not so much.

So now the House of Representatives, after three years of unconstitutionally hounding the President, has begun unconstitutionally hounding the Senate.
What makes sense for me is that the Senate set up a trial, then immediately review the articles and say that there is no such crime as 'abuse of power', and that the articles are therefore null and void, and acquit the president. If the Democrats want to send managers to the trial, well and good. If not, who cares?
