Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), a top ally of President Trump, announced Thursday morning that he will retire from Congress at the end of his term.Meadows, a four-term lawmaker who represents part of western North Carolina, said in a statement that he “struggled” with leaving what he has long considered a “temporary job.”“For everything there is a season. After prayerful consideration and discussion with family, today I’m announcing that my time serving Western North Carolina in Congress will come to a close at the end of this term,”

Boy! I am sorry to see this. Mark Meadows has done a wonderful job and we will miss him. We need two hundred more just like him. We also need to say a prayer thanking God that Paul Ryan is gone. Paulie-babes did a lot of damage in that final year he sat on his plush House pillow doing nothing.

Wow. Wasn't expecting this. Meadows has been a ROCK. Pray he is replaced by someone who can fill his shoes.

Can you imagine going to work with Pelosi, Nadler, and Schiff every day? Then Waters, Green, and the rest of the Democrats. Little wonder Republicans are leaving in droves. It is going to be difficult to find qualified people willing to take these jobs.

#4, that's exactly what the dims are looking for. They seek to encourage as many pubbie retirements as possible to preserve their House majority as means to continue the ongoing civil war in DC.

Getting more of a feeling that campaign fund donators may have some hooks in these retiring Repubs. Why now when US has come back up to running speed in so many ways? Blackmail? Skull & Crossbones? Closet Clinton Cabal? Will be watching Sundance take on this at Conservative Treehouse as 2020 lines up in the gate.

We always say that it should not be a career to serve in congress, then complain when the congress person agrees.

You are no ally Mr. Meadows if you are going to abandon your ally and us before the battle is finished. Filthy rotten cowards, all of them.

I'm sorry to see him leave too. There must be a strong belief that he will be replaced by another Republican.
What I don't like is that a congressman can retire at full salary after 7 years. I wish I could have done that! I think congressional pay and benefits need an overhaul. Their system was set up by themselves. They didn't need anyone's approval, they just vote their own pay and benefits.

Mark Meadows is just doing what Congressional Republicans do all the time. After arriving in Congress make a name for themselves, then retire from Congress, and either stay in DC or return to their home State, and get hired into a very high paying job for the rest of their careers. The leftist and liberal Congressional Democrats are different, because they are usually about 101% ideological liberal lawyers who crave political power, they stay in Congress until they are wheeled out into either a hospice or a rest home.

My guess is he will be Trumps chief of staff replacing Mulvaney.

TWENTY FOUR Republican Reps versus FOUR Democrats...
FOUR Republican Senators versus ONE Democrat
all this in spite of a rising Republican tide.
considering the deep state is alive and well and is at the controls of the Intelligence apparatus in this country i am seriously skeptical that the typical reason... spending more time with the family... is the root cause. Intelligence can know how many times you brush your teeth...

I, for one, am glad to actually see these politicians decide to put their families first. How many times have we heard these PEO shouldn’t make a career of the job and now we want him to stay? You can’t have it both ways. Enjoy your life away from the Swamp, Mr. Meadows.

Most who say they are quitting to spend more time with their family end up working for Fox . I like Collins .
