Whatever its legal merit or lack thereof, the upcoming impeachment trial in the Senate is a political show trial that is intended to affect the upcoming presidential election for sure. So let’s consider the political implications, not the legal merits.
The latest news is that the Republican leadership is thinking about trying to vote to acquit President Trump without a trial or hearing any witnesses. That has never been done, but it would be a smart move politically. Despite the president’s statements that he wants a full trial in the Senate, an impeachment trial is unlikely to help President Trump win reelection.

I don't think we should trust Judge Roberts to apply the law in any way that is fair to President Trump or that is consistent with the past. He was the one that unilaterally change a penalty into a tax to rule Obamacare constitutional. Why would he not go ahead and admit hearsay. Anything that can be done to keep Roberts from have a say is most likely a good thing.

When Roberts exposed himself as a closet Democrat, my enthusiasm for GW Bush was extinguished.
Swamp creatures--the both of them.

This article gives you something to think about and it is decidedly the kind of stuff that makes you want to pull your hair out. If what the author is saying is true, it looks like it puts the opposition in a better position especially by having Chief Justice Roberts making the calls. The President does want a full trial in the Senate because he wants everything these criminals have done to be exposed. However, if the article is right, that may not happen. What I do know is if this fiasco ends badly for this President, I honestly do not know what the reaction of his supporters would be. Knowing how thoroughly corrupt these democrats have shown themselves to be would devastate the majority of the country. To what extent? Who knows. The democrats have created a real Constitutional crisis by bringing these baseless Articles of Impeachment forward. They will stop at nothing to destroy this President. Even the destruction of the country in their maniacal pursuit of removing the President from office will not deter them. There is no reasoning with democrats anymore. They have passed the point of no return and have put the country in grave danger by pushing this debacle down the throats of the American people. They mean to play this out to the very end. God help us to be victorious in the President’s defense because what happens in the near future will define our future as a Republic. Pray diligently that we will see justice done and that this country will no longer bear the burden of the chaos the democrats have imposed upon us. Reasonable men and women see clearly that they will do anything to gain the power needed to continue to fundamentally transform this country into their totalitarian dream state. Claim II Chronicles 7:14.

It's obvious Roberts can't be trusted. Fool me once.......
Pursue the wrongdoers in the legal system. Use Durham's investigation to sort out the bad guys. There is danger everywhere. Who has Epstein's data base of improprieties, and how many other blackmailers are there out there. Who might have info on Roberts. Or his family

My problem is that, given his past performance, I trust in what he's capable of doing all too well. That's why I don't trust him in this matter at all.

Given his previous track record, I wouldn't necessarily place this farce in Roberts hands to decide. Nevertheless, this constitutional crisis created by the globalists, the dims, the msm, and the deep state has caused permanent damage to our republic.

If Roberts is the decider, it's already decided.

I want all photos and videos that were recovered at Epstein's homes revealed before anyone is allowed to vote on anything related to Trump, in Congress or in the Supreme Court.

This appears to be a political kamikaze mission.
First, no Article of Impeachment have yet been forwarded to the Senate, and it may not be a slam dunk in the House. One Dem has announced an upcoming switch to GOP, and another a "No" vote. It won't come to the floor unless Nancy has the votes, and I cannot believe she and Dem leadership wants to whip members to get them.
Secondly, Roberts reads the polls, too. He isn't going to mess around with whatever Mitch works out for a "trial", which could be minimal. Too much dirt involved that goes to the heart of the UNIPARTY and profiteering. The Senate makes the rules, not the Chief Justice. Those rules are likely to be designed to minimize possible exposure of perfidy, and I suspect PDT has plenty of evidence in hand.
For those expecting some long trial and numerous witnesses...ain't gonna happen. The UNIPARTY needs to take out its garbage ASAP. Last thing needed is actual public scrutiny. Bad for business.

This is all political and will give Chief Justice Roberts a chance to make a name for himself by going along with the leftist and liberal Democrats to destroy the Republican Party.
Who knows, maybe Roberts will slip on a banana resulting in Justice Clarance Thomas being deployed to preside over the trial in the Senate? The leftist and liberal Democrats would, no doubt, love the diversity that Thomas would bring to such a sham impeachment trial.

I don't like or trust Injustice Roberts. He's a leftist democrat and could steer this show trial in the Senate into the weeds. Tainting the President and possibly his re-election by giving the democrats new rules of engagement. No, don't do it Mr. President let Mitch the turtle McConnell shelve it, win re-election and after 2020 come out with guns blazing with the DOJ on all these enemy snakes.

I hope not. Roberts has been corrupted, is being blackmailed about his adopted kids, and probably more than that. He is clearly untrustworthy and NOT an honest judge. His hideous contortions in favor of Obamacare prove that conclusively.

Only if the Durham report doesn't cause his resignation first. After all, he is the chief supervising judge over the FISA court, and he had to have known all about what went on there. That is why he has been so easy to exploit by Obama.
Get enough courts turned our way with Trump nominees, and the gloves will finally come off and Trump will come out punching. This is one reason why we cannot believe what the media tells us, for it is in their own interest to continue the lies and the narrative that Trump is not successful. I say he is successful, and the media cannot handle that success, nor give him credit for it. Horowitz was only a warm up appetizer for the real fight to come.

Allow me to clarify here.
The transcript of the phone call between DJT and Zelensky, is admissible as an exception to hearsay, because it was a record kept as part of the organization's record.
And because the transcript referenced Biden, his crackhead son, Burisma and Crowdstrike, those subjects are appropriate to be explored by the Senate, since they flow from the phone conversation.
Even someone as sneaky as Chief Judas John Roberts would allow those subjects to be pursued. And at worst, DJT had dual motives - investigating the 2016 election/Ukraine's possible involvement, and a presidential opponent's behavior.

No and no. After Roberts wounded the country to the point of crippling a working system with his Obamacare decision I wouldn't trust him to call a tennis ball in or out in a high school match.
