The Trump administration is preparing to move the public lands management bureau out of Washington, DC to Colorado. It makes perfect sense because the vast majority of public lands are out west. It’s a great tactical move as well. One of the best ways to drain the swamp is to decentralize federal agencies by getting them out of the swamp. Some employees are not happy about this and are quitting rather than moving to Colorado. It’s almost like what they really care about is living in DC, and not public lands management. The Associated Press reports:

Plenty of leftists would love to move to Colorado. I sure hope moving all these agencies out of DC makes their housing market drop like Love Canal.

Department by department Trump should move everyone out of DC. That may be the perfect solution.

Those employees have preferred bidding rights, I believe, for other agencies and jobs.

Oh yes, they are all getting OTHER federal jobs so they can stay forever wallowing in the swamp. Absolutely great idea making all these agencies have their base where they can really serve the interests of the mission.

I love it! Same things happen in the private sector when corporate offices are moved to streamline operations. Seems like that is what is going on here. :)

Like a couple other posters said, they will just switch agencies. Few jobs are agency specific and while changing isn't easy or guaranteed, it is usually doable.

When all the agencies are moved to Podunk it won't be so easy or desirable to switch agencies, esp if they too are downsized -- where are the openings?

I'd venture to say that the majority of the workers there are "13%'ers" and are a little worried about leaving the confines of "the swamp" for the great wild west.

That's one way of getting rid of subversive incompetents who only care about implementing a One World Order and subjecting citizens to onerous regulations, taxes, and prosecutions.

Guys, the Bureau of Land Management is a small group.
My understanding is that they are looking to move 300 positions from DC to Grand Junction, CO.
It's not enough to reduce the Swamp in DC appreciably, other than also moving the lobbyists who deal with BLM.
I think it's a good idea but.....
My concern is..... will this cause the cancer to metastasize to a new area of CO?
(Denver and Boulder are already trashed.)

Next, move all the Bureau of Indian Affairs bureaucrats to the reservations. They should experience firsthand what they've created.

It keeps getting better! Most folks living West of the Mississippi River knows the "lock it up" attitude of federal land agencies. The term Public Lands is really a joke out here. Easterners wouldn't believe the number of federal departments having their fingers in so called public lands. Time to streamline and return some sense to federal land management.

Fantastic. Hire new folks at a ratio of one new for every 10 old employees, as a first step towards improving the place.
Then hire folks who understand hunting, ranching and mining as legitimate uses for the land.

Having dealt for years with the BLM concerning mining and oil and gas leasing on public lands, I love this. Next, let's move the Ag Department to Kansas!

Love the comment about “brain drain”. Like they couldn’t possibly be replaced by anyone west of DC.

I suggest a Hiring Freeze in D.C. starting tomorrow! Let the Swamp Dwellers find jobs outside Government! Maybe the job relocation might just be a bit more appealing if they can't just jump from one agency to another!

When the FBI Fingerprint Unit moved to West Virginia a few decades ago the workforce experienced an increase in the percentage of paleface employees. A lot of the Black folks refused to move because they were concerned that there were no barbers in West Virginia that knew how to cut Afro hair. True story.

That's the goal--get rid of as many as we can. Don't replace them either. And, call a hiring freeze on all government agencies. Start talking about Congress and how they need to reduce their staff by 98 percent, since they are a do-nothing Congress.
