Bill Hemmer has for years been the faithful morning co-anchor at Fox News Channel, boosting the profiles of time-slot partners like Megyn Kelly, Martha MacCallum and Shannon Bream. Now he's set to step into his own solo spotlight. Hemmer will take over the 3pm timeslot previously anchored by Shepard Smith, the last stage of a much-scrutinized transition at the Fox News. The appointment was applauded by the President who took to Twitter to share his approval: 'A great choice. Bill is a winner!' he wrote.

I would frequently get home around 3pm and turn on the tv to see what's happening. I saw Shep and turned off the TV. I'll try again now.

Hemmer always seemed like a decent guy to me. I wish him well and hope he doesn't fall into the dark side.

FTA about Shep Smith "with a no-nonsense, down-the-middle brand of reportage." Not the Shep Smith I remember.

Now all they have to do is get rid of Judge Napolitano and Fox will be worth watching

Now if FOX would just listen to those of us who have been with them from the beginning and get rid of The Judge and Juan Williams. It seems to take years for FOX to wake up to the fact that we're turning off our TV sets when those Two come on the screen. Remember Bob (can't remember his last name) who was on the Original The Five? He was a Drunk, Addict and always came unprepared and sometimes looked like he was sleeping on the set. He was undoubtedly in a Drug or Alcoholic stupor, yet they kept him on until he had to go into Rehab and the story came out for all to read! Now we are seeing more and more new Liberal faces appear. We are looking for another conservative channel to take the place FOX! If that happens, I hope some of our favorites will jump ship and go to a more favorable environment!

I hope he doesn't step in all the crapola that Smith left.

He is far better than any named. Even Shannon Bream has gone Megyn - in looks, anyway.

The 3 PM time slot doesn't seem very attractive to me but maybe that is just because of the central time zone I live in.

Hemmer is a real pro. Great choice for that position.

A good move. Hemmer seems like a down-home, aw-shucks, next-door-neighbor kind of guy which is a bit deceiving because I've seen him conduct some razor-edged interviews. He zeroes in on and goes for the throat when someone panders with fluff or spin, but he does it in a nice-guy way that completely flummoxes his guest.

Looks like someone at FOX has sobered up and wants to remain on top. Good choice, he is an honest man and I am not sure of his position on a lot of things, which tells me he is a good journalist.

Gee, now I can watch Fox in the afternoons, if I want to. Previously, when Smith's face showed up, the channel changed as soon as I could reach the remote, or the power went off, either way Smith was NOT going to be on my TV.
Huge improvement for Fox. Good riddance.

Shameful Shep cried the most tears of any of them on election night 2016. I followed the entire coverage to the end and watched him go from jubilation to deep despair. Even Wolf Blitzer held up better. The MSNBCABCCBS coverage I, of course, did not watch but the clips of their disappointment that were subsequently put together was very entertaining.

Very good choice. Interesting man, I saw O'Reilly interview him once. Was stunned to find out that he spent a year working with Mother Theresa. Maybe Fox finally gets it.

If I watch anything on Fox or any channel anymore, it’s Bill Hemmer. I have no clue as to his politics and that’s the way it should be. Good choice Fox.
