This Friday, the top four NCAA Division III women’s soccer teams face off in the national semifinals. One of the final four teams’ goalkeepers, Isa Berardo, is a male transgender playing as a female for Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
Not surprisingly, the male goalie has dominated the field against opposing female players, giving his own a chance to win the national championship thanks to his physical advantages in a key position. This is increasingly happening throughout women’s sports, at all levels from elementary school through professional competitions. It’s creating not equality, but inequality.

Women voters are disproportionately responsible for the success of "progressive" and liberal issues and politicians. So this is Karma, isn't it? Now that their cow is gored, perhaps they will see more clearly.

As I get older, I’m losing interest in sports period. In all honesty, I’ve never been a big fan of women’s sports. It’s turned political (USA Soccer) I no longer enjoy the NFL or the NBA for the same reasons. Professional athletes make horrible role models for boys and girls. Maybe it fell apart when we stopped praying before games and standing for our flag?

Like everything else about this issue, I am ambivalent. I don't like men pretending to be women, and I don't like bullies. These men are cowards and should be ashamed of themselves. Since they're obviously ethically incompetent, I will be ashamed of them instead.
Having said all of that, the author goes to great lengths to justify the concept of women's sports. However, there is a distinction to be made here between recreation and competition. Recreational participation in sports should be open to all, done for fun, and conducted with respect and good faith for all concerned.
Competitive sports are different. The goal of true competition is excellence, and this is particularly true of professional sports. We want, and in many cases pay, to see who's best. Sub-dividing participants so some can prevail over less-competitive opponents misses the point.
Who's the best tennis player in the world? Not Serena Williams. In order for her to be competitive she needs to play only against women. In other words, relative to the purest standard of competitive excellence, she's not as good. So why must we pretend that she is a world champion?
More importantly, the male physical advantages the author lists can be disadvantages in other activities. There are absolutely things that females are generally better at. In my experience, they are more flexible. I prefer women's diving over men's. Likewise floor gymnastics and figure skating.
I keep coming back to this. What's the point? If the goal is to play sports and have fun, participants can be subdivided to that end. If the goal is to find the best athletes the world, then participation should be open to all and competition should be allowed to decide the question at hand.
Most gender segregation in professional sports is about representation and inclusion, not competition. Males pretending to be female in order to win are gaming that system. However, if we're being honest, women's sports are a rigged game as well.

The mental illness is just as bad in the enabler as it is in the 'trans' person.
We've had authorities in every sport making gold-leaf distinctions and requirements regarding doping, hormones, steroids, etc. We've had athletes suspended, disqualified and banned for abuse of same.
One sicko utters the magic word and the sporting bodies throw the rule book out the window or, worse, agree to issue another rule book full of fantastically bizarre fiction.

The small percentage of jackasses who thought that this was a good idea will eventually be overridden by common sense. Probably not in this generation but when womens sports have been totally destroyed. The teams and management need to stand up to this assault. The correction needs to start in schools but those are the liberal nests that are pushing it.

I wanted to cheer after I read this. It's so true. I majored in biology and I know my science. Men even after they have had surgery and hormone therapy to turn themselves into "women" retain a lot of the physical advantages of men and will win over women all the time.
The SJWs ruin everything they touch. They've ruined a lot of things I used to love and now they've ruined sports.

10 Nanomoles per liter is about the level of a middle aged male! And about 5 to 10 times the testosterone of a female.
I know 40 year old males with lower than this level that have sexual relations with their partners every day.

As a woman, I say pay back is a well....you know the word. Women destroyed men’s sports with title x and all but eliminated wrestling in most high schools and colleges. That being said, it’s ridiculous a biological male is allowed to compete but homeschooled kids are not allowed to play sports in public schools.

Why is there such a thing as "women's" sports? That's discrimination on the basis of sex. Illegal double standard. Sports is sports. Everyone should be allowed to compete equally. Men should be allowed to compete for a spot on any team.

I'm all for this. For 3 generations we have been told that feelings are all that matters. We have been told we should proceed through this life pursuing our feelings and that quest doesn't have any consequences except self fulfillment. Except now we are seeing the consequences. Sometimes, we, society, have to see that hairbrain ideas, as Ivory Tower wonderful as they sound, suck. This is one such lesson. Fringe groups have been driving societial direction for 3 generations. Now that the crazy ideas are harming an entire gender, common sense will soon replace the consequence free ,liberal numbskull ideas of today.

Nos. 1 and 4 pretty much say it.
BTW: American major league professional sports are open to all with the requisite skills. Women, for example, have competed in PGA tournaments, driven and led the Indianapolis 500, and even been drafted by the NBA. If one could pitch or hit, she's be in MLB. If one could stand up under the physical demands she'd be in the NFL. A few have even made a college team at the lower tiers. Mostly, these were "stunts", with no expectation of success.

I have watched the feminist movement for the last 50 yrs starting when I was in college destroy everything around it. The proposition that we are all the "same" is what they have been pushing and we all know that is a lie. We are not the same as men, never have been, I never wanted to be, but that is me. Those women who pretended otherwise are now seeing the fruits of their demented labor. They wanted to be the same and now they are every bit as gross and disgusting in their language and their behavior as any degenerate male on the planet. The big feminist soccer star with the filthy mouth will soon be replaced with an transgender with just as filthy a mouth and no one will shed a tear on my side of the aisle anyway.
In case you are wondering my side of the aisle believes in Viva la difference and always will want those differences to define us and make us better people and not sink to the lowest common denominator.

To be well thought of as a man nowadays, an athlete must be thought of as a woman. Fortunately for women, we still can pick out the duds. They have ceased being ''dudes.'' For all their effort, they still present only their middle fingers to the Almighty.

The Big Ten used to field terrific teams, men and women, in the minor sports like fencing. Title IX destroyed that for both sexes (all two of them). How ironic that this ridiculous trans meme is now destroying all women's sports. It really is time to say that the Emperor is not wearing any clothes or soon there will be unisex Olympics, unisex collegiate sports and cis (I mean real) women will be shut out of everything. Come on you feminist activists, THIS is the line in the sand for you.

Women's competition a place where snowflake, sissy, girly men can excel. Crossdressing males calling themselves transgender seem to gaining a place in sports. Soon there will be enough of these sickos to form a Transgender league where they can all compete against other cross dressing snowflake sickos. That'll be a big boon for dying sports but I see women's sports dying real soon because of this silliness. The only competition between sexes should be cooking and that's about it.

For many years I competed directly with men in two fields of sport, sailboat racing and anything that involved a horse, jumping, dressage, and even three-day eventing etc. While foxhunting is not a competition, but both men and women enjoy it and there are many packs led by very good women MFH's
On a horse women have an advantage over men in many aspects. We re generally lighter, strength is a minimal consideration, and the feminine sensitivities are sharper, especially significant since most top level competition horses are stallions or geldings. For jumping I had to use weights in my saddle pad to try to even things out with the men,but i think this is only fair.
In sailing,on smaller boats there is almost no distinction and crews are often mixed genders. The bigger boats such as those in the America's Cup, are where strength counts, so their crews are men. There are at least two women who have completed solo circumnavigations.
Notable in these two sports is the lack of animosity between men and women, and the respect for skill and dedication in the participants.

I am only a VERY casual observer to sports, but it seems to me that this situation, where women are forced to accept males ('converted' or not- these 'males' do not deserve to be called MEN) competing in women's sports is driven by the media, and in particular by the people in charge of the media. TV and print coverage sets the tone of what is accepted and what is condemned.
If TV announcers were to broadly condemn 'males' competing in women's sports, I think the officials would grow a backbone and kick them out. But it seems that anyone -announcer or female competitor- who speaks up is thrown out. An announcer would be immediately fired, and a competitor immediately suspended. Women's sports will not survive, with the freaks dominating over the women.
But again, look at who is setting the tone of the discussion. It is the media, and the people who control the media are the ones with their hand on the levers of power.

If two or three of them put a bar of soap in a towel and pummelled these fakers in the locker room every time they showed up, this would end.

Nothing the commies promote is organic or natural. Everything they do is intentional and serves their ultimate goal: the transformation of a free society into a slave society. A slave is a person unable to express or act upon their own will. They have no identity as an individual and can be easily swapped out for another indistinguishable slave; male, female, adult or child. Slave masters keep their underlings under control by changing rules on a whim which enables punishment on whim. A slave lives in constant uncertainty and learns to change behavior instantly as past experience offers no guidance. Its crazy-making on purpose.
The commies targeted women first by stoking the ancient feminine resentments about supposed male societal benefits that were unavailable to women. The narrative was simple; men were pigs that denied women opportunities. Family and home life was portrayed as an anchor instead of women's seat of power. Radical feminism strove to drive out all vestiges of femininity from womanhood; we're the same as men, dammit! And so fifty years later we have men agreeing with the politics so they can cheat physically. Its crazy-making on purpose.
The only way to reset this travesty is for every woman athlete to walk off the field when a man in "woman face" has been accepted into the competition. Its time to show some of that much talked about Girrrl Power!

My young daughter is just beginning to enjoy the thrill of playing and competing in sports. It's not about the pros and the spectators and the commercialization. It's about building girls' confidence to compete and enjoy the thrill of battle, benefits of hard work, practice and team work, and build habits of a healthy long life.
This whole transgender thing pains me so much because it threatens to put an end to it all for my daughter. I'll be out with my pitchfork.

Excellent point #9, you don't see trans (born biologically women) trying to compete with men. Made me think of a few other things you don't see: People risking their lives to sneak into countries other than America (even though it's racist) and very close election recounts going to the republican. Sports gender categories should be based on biology, not because some man decides to try to look like a woman. Female athletes who take testosterone would be banned. Shouldn't a biological man taking estrogen be banned, too? Estrogen may not be performance-enhancing but it isn't performance-detracting for these trans athletes either. They are still bigger and have more muscle mass than female athletes.

Reading some of the responses, I have to say there is a bit of misogyny among a few freepers here. The notion that there should be no women's sports is ridiculous. Also that men and women ought to just compete against each other to see who is the best, - that rationale does not differ from that of certain leftists.
How about some common sense? I do agree that Title IX which gave girls and women some sharing of athletic budgets at schools was long overdue. The reason we have such a problem is that the old 'equal' division of all funds was forced upon society by radical feminists which was silly. There was not an equal interest in girls to participate in sports as there is among the boys. A more rational approach would have allowed the girls access to maybe 30% of athletic funds.
As for only one competition which has both males and females [since the goal is to determine who is the best/strongest], does that mean that weight categories in boxing, wrestling, and varying age groups, etc are illegitimate? Think about it!!!!!!!

#38, interesting post. I liked it and have thought about it. You have a point. One could challenge my argument against gender segregation by comparing it to weight classes in competitive sports.
In response, I could argue that weight classes are applicable only in a relatively limited number of specific sports. There are no weight classes in tennis or sprinting. The best and the fastest wins.
However, I do think there is a difference between segregating out whole sports by gender and classifying competitors by weight within a given sport. Let me try tackle it this way: Who was a better boxer, Sugar Ray Leonard or Mike Tyson? A boxing fan could easily answer that question either way. They fought in different weight classes, but it doesn't feel right to say Mike Tyson was a better boxer just because he could knock Sugar Ray Leonard out. Under Olympic boxing rules, which de-emphasize physical contact in favor of point-scoring, Leonard could easily win.
There is no version of tennis where Serena Williams beats her top-seeded male counterpart. She is not the best tennis player in the world, and she never will be. Likewise, female boxers would not be as competitive against males in any of the weight classes. I've seen Ronda Rousey and Laila Ali box. Measured against the men, they're not as good at that sport, regardless of weight class.
Likewise, WNBA basketball gets less money and attention because most of its players aren't as good as their NBA counterparts. However, some of them might be good enough to play in the NBA. I'd like to find out. In fact, I'd much rather see Serena Williams play professionally against her male counterparts, even if she only mades it to the 207th seed. It would be a more interesting and honest competition.
Anyway, enough from me. I did enjoy your post and am pleased to find out I might be a "freeper." I don't know what that is, but it sounds kind of cool.
