As the Democrats toil to make their impeachment effort look like something other than a partisan smear job and legal scam, President Trump is at the NATO leaders’ meeting in London, observing the 70th anniversary of that organization, and is able to take some pleasure in the success of his foreign policy. His enemies, who have swarmed in the media every day since he declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination — first in derisive hilarity, then in a rising state of alarm, and finally in seething hatred — claim that he has alienated allies, swaggered absurdly, and generally brought the United States into disrepute while accomplishing

The President’s put down in front of Trudeau was classic, in a world of classics. Delightful!

The idea of adding capitalistic democratic nations in Asia is excellent. I believe bringing Israel in would be an absolutely brilliant move. In fact, NATO should welcome any democratic nation into the fold. After that, lets just get rid of the United Nations. They are a waste of assets and valuable real estate in New York City.

"Macron’s talk about individual nations fending for themselves"
Yes, they did so well against the Nazi's and they are now a shadow of their strength back then. France's is a Hollywood military, good for the show but nothing else.
In the long run, the US would be better off to withdraw from the UN and let it collapse and expand and alter NATO into a broader peace keeping group. Trump is smart to not bother trying to reform the pathetic, corrupt, and useless UN and focus on more useful pursuits.

FTA - "President Trump recognizes that pushing Turkey into the arms of Russia, and Russia into the arms of China, would be terrible mistakes. The two greatest conceivable strategic threats to the U.S. are Russia aligning with China, so that tens of millions of Chinese move to Siberia and tap its resources as a concession power, paying Russia a royalty and rivaling North America as a resources treasure-house; and Turkey joining with Iran to impinge upon Israel and the Arabs, especially Saudi Arabia and Egypt."
This scenario presents the greatest threat to the western world and should be America's highest foreign policy priority. Of concern is the latest announcement by China, Russia, and Iran to conduct joint military exercises. The President understands. But, the dims sure don't think so. Their impeachment circus is more important due to their myopic lust for power.

In the last decade or so, the EU has pushed Turkey into the arms of Iran enabling the mullahs to infiltrate more men and arms into Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. Therefore, I am of two minds when it comes to NATO. One, I agree with Black that a strong alliance can prevent the Turks further drift to the East, OTOH I am also tired of the US having to take crap from Euro-trash socialists while trying to bail them out of problems they are responsible for. As long as its in our interests Trump has my support to strengthen the alliance to accomplish our goals all the while holding our collective nose.

God bless President Trump. His wit along with his steadfastness in the face of such opposition are a source of happy joy to me. I appreciate Conrad Black's eye on the proceedings, as well. (Mrs. Trump was breathtaking in her quiet beauty!)

While the democrats dilly dally like the pack of buffoons they are President Trump is a rock star on the world stage.
Sometime brash, boorish and down right insulting is the only way to act for the United States among groups who would cannibilize you if they could.

Expand NATO? Aren't we soaked enough already as the World's Greatest Mercenary force to Europe's effetes? It's time to pull a France and defend our own interests...let the others sweat the vaunted, much feared "Russian threat." When the invasion starts we can send ally Germany the same aid it gave us in the last conflict - a fleet of schnitzel wagons and cooks.

NATO, like the UN, is about as useless as teats on a boar hog. It is time we stopped funding both of them with our hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

Interesting, but not surprising, to see the other 'world leaders' snarking behind Trump's back, much like employees do about their boss, and our left media does to Trump all the time. Trump is a doer and a problem solver, while those other 'world leaders' appear to just like to prance around in the limelight.

Getting more countries to financially support NATO sounds like a good thing but I am not sure a powerful NATO is all that beneficial to the US. Where does all of that money go? I don't know anything about a NATO army, navy or air force, does one exist? If a NATO armed force exists who controls what they do? I suspect most of the money presently goes to administration--that doesn't make me feel any safer.
