Impeachment Is Being Used to Wound

Original Article

RUSH: Now, I’m giving Schiff some short shrift here because I think this is all much ado about something other than impeachment. Because, look, nothing’s changed. They know they’re not gonna get a conviction in the Senate, and yet they’re doing it. So what’s the objective? ‘Cause this makes no sense. If you really think this guy has misbehaved and needs to be thrown out of office, then you’re gonna go out, you’re gonna make the case for it, and you’re damn well gonna follow it through, you’re gonna get a conviction in the Senate, if this guy really has committed these kinds

Exactly. Impeachment is being used to wound and smear Donald Trump.

I think it is wounding the democrats. President Trump can't be wounded and smeared, except for people that already hate him. Everyone else is watching the democrats destroy themselves. President Trump's approval rating is rising, in spite of the democrats.

Rush is half right...ignoring the elephant in the room, the Anti-Trump GOPe that is a UNIPARTY partner with the "moderate" Dems. This includes the leadership of both parties in Congress. Their racket is being exposed and challenged, and they can't have that - neither can many "special interests" who profit. But for the GOPe to support baseless impeachment would be suicide. I expect the "impeachment inquiry" Judiciary Committee to write and report out a censure resolution, which gives all sides something else to wave around "proving" PDT's malfeasance, if not criminality. After Christmas, the games will begin again, in earnest. Maybe a "name" Republican primary challenger...a contentious convention...maybe a "name" third-party candidate come November. This is far from over.

Except it is NOT wounding, and is making many people MORE likely to vote for Trump.

President Donald Trump lobbed a rhetorical bomb at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday after the California Democrat told reporters that she prays for the president and doesn’t hate him. Pelosi should worry about the homelessness plaguing her California district and signing legislation on trade, Trump said on Twitter. He also mocked Pelosi’s reaction after a reporter asked her on Thursday morning if she “hates” the president. “Nancy Pelosi just had a nervous fit. She hates that we will soon have 182 great new judges and sooo much more. Stock Market and employment records,” Trump told his followers. The dismissed the possibility that Pelosi prays for him.

It’s the perennial anomaly of Jewish voter surveys: Vast majorities feel an attachment to Israel, but relatively few are thinking about the Jewish state when they cast their vote. On the day of last year’s midterm congressional elections, J Street, the liberal Jewish Middle East policy group, asked Jewish voters to name their two most important issues. Just 4 percent chose Israel. The same survey found that 65 percent said they were somewhat or very emotionally attached to Israel. The J Street survey is not an outlier. The American Jewish Committee, a foreign policy and civil rights group, found a similar discrepancy in its 2015 poll, in which barely

The lines in my DeKalb county, Georgia, polling site wrapped around the corner. Each of the hopeful voters in our predominantly black election district waited about two hours, alternately sitting, standing and passing the time with southern pleasantries, moments away from voting for America’s first black president. And it wasn’t yet the official voting day. I had gone home from my graduate studies in New York City to vote early. I knew Barack Obama wasn’t perfect, but he offered a bold vision following the financial crisis – and that’s what we needed. I was back in Harlem when election day results trickled in.

Eight people, including major Hillary Clinton donors and a witness in the Mueller investigation, have been charged in a massive campaign-finance scheme, the Justice Department announced on Tuesday. The individuals conspired to “make and conceal conduit and excessive campaign contributions” valued around $3.5 million in the 2016 election campaign and beyond, according to the announcement. Although the indictment does not specifically name the recipient of the donations, it is clear that the contributions went to groups allied with Clinton’s presidential campaign.

As I noted Monday on the Corner, British journalist James Kirkup has done a great public service in sharing a document that helps explain how the transgender movement, which many privately admit has overreached and is unconvincing, has been so successful so quickly. The document was produced by a major international law firm and is a “lobbying manual for people who want to change the law to prevent parents having the final say about significant changes in the status of their own children,” Kirkup explains. The manual’s authors advise activists across the world to use “certain techniques,” including attempts to “get ahead of the government agenda.”

Fox News commentator Chris Wallace criticized Democrats on Wednesday for refusing to question the lone witness brought by Republicans during the day’s impeachment hearings. Republicans called on Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University Law School, to be their witness opposite three professors summoned by Democrats. Turley has previously testified in the 1998 impeachment hearings against Bill Clinton, giving background on the impeachment process. During the 45 minute hearing on Wednesday morning, “only once did [the Democratic counsel] ask Jonathan Turley any questions,” Wallace told Fox News.

Some Historical Perspective

This week, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee trotted out a trio of dispassionate legal experts to explain why the impeachment of Donald Trump was justified. They were there to bring a veneer of gravitas and erudition to what’s been, until now, a highly partisan affair. But however smart people such as Michael Gerhardt, distinguished professor of constitutional law at University of North Carolina, might be, they aren’t immune from peddling partisan absurdities. Once Gerhardt argued that Trump’s conduct was “worse than the misconduct of any prior president,” we no longer had any intellectual obligation to take him seriously on the topic.

This week, Paul Krugman of The New York Times posited a theory: Red states cause depression and suicide. In a column titled "America's Red State Death Trip," Krugman wrote: "In 1990, today's red and blue states had almost the same life expectancy. Since then, however, life expectancy in Clinton states has risen more or less in line with other advanced countries, compared with almost no gain in Trump country. At this point, blue-state residents can expect to live more than four years longer than their red-state counterparts." On this basis, Krugman blasts Attorney General William Barr, who suggested earlier this year that militant secularism lies behind rising

The White House called the first day of impeachment testimony in front of the House Judiciary Committee a "bad day" for Democrats as they attempt to impeach President Trump. "Today was a good day for President Trump, and a bad day for the Democrats," White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a Wednesday statement. "The only thing the three liberal professors established at Chairman Nadler’s hearing was their political bias against the President. It did nothing to change the fact that, despite weeks of hearings in this sham process, the President did nothing wrong."

President Donald Trump likes to say he’s going to win so much, you’ll get tired of winning. Maybe Democrats have taken the president too literally. The Democratic Attorneys General Association is leading the charge to excise all abortion moderates from the good graces of the party. It announced it will not endorse or assist any candidates who do not support unfettered abortion access. While state AGs may not seem incredibly relevant, they are an important stepping stone toward governors’ mansions in many states. So, considering the Democrats’ weak bench for plausible candidates in red states, the decision not to compete for attorney general is significant.

A little something to cleanse the palate. She said this in an interview today with Howard Stern, which makes it slightly less weird since chatter about lesbians is like 40 percent of the content on that show. Or at least it was when I was a regular listener a million years ago. (In fairness to Stern, she’s the one who brings it up.) He went easy on her by not asking the obvious follow-up: What were you doing at Epstein’s ranch, then? She should consider this a missed opportunity, as a surprise admission of bisexuality would have helped add a little more “diversity” to an upcoming Democratic debate.

One of the final four teams’ goalkeepers, Isa Berardo, is a male transgender playing as a female for Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. Not surprisingly, the male goalie has dominated the field against opposing female players, giving his own a chance to win the national championship thanks to his physical advantages in a key position. This is increasingly happening throughout women’s sports, at all levels from elementary school through professional competitions. It’s creating not equality, but inequality.

California Sen. Kamala Harris should never have run for president in the first place. Her ambition far exceeded her ability. She hadn’t yet established herself in the U.S. Senate. And she hadn’t exactly excelled in her previous job as California’s attorney general. There wasn’t much of a record worth bragging about on the campaign trail. After being elected to the Senate in a 2016 cakewalk, she should have spent the next three years focused exclusively on representing Californians in Congress, helping the state on such vital issues as water development, environmental protection, healthcare and homelessness. But people around her — political advisors and her sister Maya Harris
