The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Southern California recently presented Christine Blasey Ford with its Roger Baldwin Courage Award. Blasey Ford accused Brett Kavanaugh of attempted rape, nearly derailing his Supreme Court nomination. Many Democratic politicians and members of corporate media proudly announce that they “believe” Ford and believe that Kavanaugh should be impeached.(Snip for Tweets)It is unclear why these politicians and pundits claim to believe Ford, given the lack of evidence in support of her serious accusations. Here are 21 reasons reasonable people may doubt Ford’s claims about Kavanaugh.

Ford's testimony would likely have not been allowed in a proper court proceeding, because it lacked "foundation" meaning information about where an alleged act took place, when it took place, and who was present. There are reasons for the rule requiring foundation -- to ensure reliability and allow for such testimony to be corroborated or debunked. Ford's story was obviously calculated to make it impossible for Kavanaugh to defend himself by debunking it. She claimed not to remember when it took place, to make it impossible for Kavanaugh to produce evidence that he was somewhere else at the time. She claimed not to remember where it took place, to make it impossible for Kavanaugh to produce witnesses, such as the homeowner, to testify that no such party even happened there. The only person she claimed was there during the alleged incident was a classmate whom, she knew, had published a book admitted that he experienced alcoholic blackouts in high school, meaning that she knew he couldn't testify with any credibility that no such incident ever took place. It was such an obvious setup.

Left out: the two front doors excuse. Left out: the dirty glasses. Left out: the skill at self-hypnosis. Left out: the reason for postponing the testimony. Ford did the same sort of smear job that was done to Justice Thomas. Just make allegations and claim that trauma keeps you from remembering any details. Bad case of recovered memory syndrome. There was no truth to any of Ms Ford's story. No substantiation, no credible second witness, no details, no reason why this should come up 20 years later. Just a monumental lie piled on a lie piled on another lie. Fly much, Ms Ford? How do you get to those islands for vacations?

Reason #23...nice and relaxed and joking about needing coffee, then suddenly turning on the shaky little girl voice. She is up before the senate and millions of Americans recalling a supposed assault. This would be enormously emotional. Yet, her eyes never watered, she never shed a tear. Not even a moistening. My wife, who happens to be a woman, saw this performance, rolled her eyes and asked who on earth does she think she's fooling?

It’s hard to take the British prime minister, Boris Johnson, completely seriously. Just look at him: a chubby, permanently disheveled toff with an accent that comes off as a parody of an upper-class twit, topped off by that trademark mop of silver-blond hair he deliberately musses up before venturing into the public eye. Then there are those photo-op moments in his long career that seem designed to make him look supremely silly — stuck dangling in midair on a zip line with little Union Jacks waving in his hands; rugby-tackling a 10-year-old in Japan; playing tug-of-war in a publicity stunt and collapsing, suited,

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in her normal screeching manner, just raised national hackles by saying people will starve — starve! — because the Agriculture Department, under President Donald Trump’s watch, is reeling in some of its Supplemental Nutrition Program, or food stamp, giveaways. Stupid is as stupid does, as Forrest Gump’s mom might say. Does anybody actually starve in America? Starving’s a socialist-country thing. “Famine is a disproportionately prevalent outcome of socialist systems,” as the American Enterprise Institute reported in a 2016 study.

If Democrats and their media allies thought that the impeachment of President Trump would be his undoing, I've got bad news for them: it's actually undoing them. The Democrats' favorite (fake) news channel CNN is suffering from a three-year low in ratings. According to Disrn, CNN "reached a three-year low in ratings over the Thanksgiving holidays, averaging 643,000 primetime viewers. The news outlet also saw its worst week for viewers among the 25-43 demographic." In that group, CNN only pulled 138,000 viewers. That's pathetic. Fox News, on the other hand, "posted higher ratings than CNN and MSNBC combined, averaging nearly 2.2 million viewers

A 5-year-old child in a remote Alaskan village carried a toddler a half-mile to a neighbor’s house in bitter sub-zero temperatures after they were left home alone, police said Friday. The older child was frightened after the power went out at the home, so wearing only socks and light clothing, he picked up the younger child and started walking through temperatures that dipped 31 degrees below zero in the village of Venetie, Alaska, according to state troopers. Both children suffered cold-weather injuries, according to an Alaska Department of Safety news release.

In 1858, Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln debated the nature of America’s soul. Douglas argued that the Founders believed that the claim in the Declaration of Independence—“all men are created equal”—applied only to whites. They were indifferent to the perpetuation of slavery, he said. Lincoln argued that the Founders foresaw an end to slavery, that the words in the Declaration meant what they said, and that no one before Douglas had ever suggested otherwise. After a bloody civil war and a decades-long civil rights struggle were fought to vindicate Lincoln’s position, the New York Times and the Pulitzer Center are urging teachers, with the 1619 Project and attendant K-12 curriculum,

A Washington Post fact check gave Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg three Pinocchios on Thursday for cherry-picking data to suggest he "cut the black poverty rate by more than half" in South Bend, Ind., during his tenure as mayor. The Post found that Buttigieg, who made the statement during a campaign stop in Allendale, S.C., used a selective estimate of poverty rates to support his claim. Using another data set preferred by experts, he determined the black poverty rate in South Bend only fell by 6 percent during Buttigieg's time as mayor.

ATLANTA — The pin was small, and rusted on the back. Sharon Wood had packed it away in 1973 as a relic of a battle fought and won: the image of a black coat hanger, slashed out by a red line. Then this spring, her home state, Georgia, joined a cascade of states outlawing abortion at the earliest stages of pregnancy. Ms. Wood did what she never imagined she would need to do again. She dug it out, and pinned it on. “Don’t ask me how it all happened,” Ms. Wood, 70, a retired social worker northeast of Atlanta, said one Sunday afternoon, the pin on her dress.

Many Americans remain nonplussed over revelations in the House Intelligence Committee’s Impeachment Inquiry Report that its chairman, Adam Schiff, not only secretly subpoenaed telephone records from President Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, but also obtained responses that detailed dates and lengths of phone calls to Trump attorney Jay Sekulow, ranking committee member Devin Nunes, and Hill reporter John Solomon. That Schiff self-disclosed this action as a rightful part of his committee’s information gathering is equally stunning.
