Teachers across America are striving to have their students “unlearn” what progressive activists say is nothing more than a “feel-good” Thanksgiving “myth.”“Thanksgiving became a national holiday during the administration of President Abraham Lincoln, and the myth of familial relations between colonial settlers and Native Americans has persisted in American culture ever since,” says Education Week: (Video) The education media outlet interviewed Jacob Tsotigh, tribal education specialist for the National Indian Education Association, who said, “There’s less and less” of K-12 teachers having students participate

Why don't they spend their energies teaching the myths of socialism?

The commonly told story is a fantasy, but worse would be a new fantasy, that the Puritans were engaged in deliberate genocide against the noble indigenous tribes.

Goobermint schools are nothing more than taxpayer-funded daycare centers and indoctrination centers for socialist/communist nonsense.

Next on their list will be Christmas. I wonder if they will go after Labor Day?

What the Progressives don't like is that families get together, and give thanks for the many blessings they have, and may even praise God for them.
I would hope someone has, or will, look at what population group encompasses those who identify as Progressive.
My hunch, they are mostly upper-income, privileged, and WHITE. Many are single, and easily swayed by social media prompts - similar to what happened at the Harvard-Yale football game on Saturday.
Then, once identified, ensure people realize who is trying to influence them by highlighting their background.

Thanksgiving was celebrated between Indians and European settlers long before Abe declared it a holiday. Of course most of our 'teachers' are not aware of the history, they are busy striking and demanding higher salaries for the little they have 'to teach' other than their lefty anti-American hate.

I guess I am naïve when I think they will teach that William Bradford initially set up the Plymouth Colony as a socialist commune, and they starved the first winter since the (parapharased) "able grew weary of working to provide to others that would not work." It wasn't until he set up private property rights and capitalism that the colony survived and thrived.

The first proclamation about Thanksgiving was issued by President George Washington, saying that we should take the time to give thanks to God for our Republic and other gifts.

Where in the hell is Education Sec. Bety DeVos? Why is the Left seemingly able to rip apart our traditional norms in the classroom unimpeded? They are like a swarm of locusts ravaging our country's history with no fight back. Sickening!!

Call me Mr. Myth. My many times great grandfather was a Native American named Stetson, and he was married to a Pilgrim.

My son just watched a documentary on cable about Thanksgiving and it stated the colonists deliberately brought disease to the natives; that they ''gifted'' the Indians with blankets and clothing of those who died from a contagious disease. We had quite the conversation following this history rewrite.

Lincoln proposed a day of thanksgiving to celebrate the end of the Civil War, and the reuniting of the country. It never was about the pilgrims and the Indians. That story came much later after the pain of the Civil War had started to fade.

You just knew they'd becoming after Thanksgiving next. The one holiday that every American can celebrate, that brings us all together--can't have that, now, can we?

Four children that I know personally can give a great extemporaneous talk on the Bridge at Remagen, or D-Day Invasion, the First Thanksgiving or the celebrations of Christmas or Hanukkah, the reasons for the Korean War or for Southeast Asia. Their ages are between 11 and 19. Though already out of college and working, my oldest grandson, 21 year old, asked me what I remembered about the Lunch Counter Sit-ins. Oh, yeah, forgot to mention they were home schooled. Given the choice of public school they thought they wanted, they all returned to the home school curriculum that was so effective.

The reality is that there WAS a three day feast with many Indians attending with the new settlers, in the 1600s, hard fact.
Screw these hateful destroyers.

Another example of how public education brainwashes your kids. No wonder they "graduate" dumber than a fence post.

Our schools today, tearing down society one tradition at a time. Communists believe in nothing. Our schools are instruments of achieving that.
