Lieutenant Colonel Vindman wants you to know his rank. This miles gloriosus, who clumsily cast himself as both martinet and insubordinate meddler, knows something of rank and privilege.
In colloquy with the witness, Representative Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) referred to Vindman as “Mr. Vindman.” Vindman, lips pursed, breathed back, “Ranking member, it’s Lieutenant Colonel Vindman, please.”
Nunes missed the opportunity to top this affected pomp insisting “It is Honorable Ranking Member Nunes, please.” Honorifics to the death. Game on, Colonel Sanders!
In seriousness, Vindman demanded obeisance to his military rank, although he was appearing before Congress in connection with his role in the civilian administration of diplomacy.

A tip: Very short article.
Second headline: Many parties who exceeded the call of etiquette to lick Vindman’s patent leather shoes are the same ones who work tirelessly tearing down the Second Amendment. The connection is not a chance one.

can someone well versed in the military take a look at this guy and tell us what his various medals and ribbons represent? just wonder what his path to "Lieutenant Colonel" was.

A Lt Col is a pi**ant in diplomatic circles, as well as in the Pentagon. Vindman has a very inflated self-image, and delusions of importance. If he wanted to be a big shot, he should have volunteered for a post at some small base, where a Lt Col is more important.
Court martial Vindman and have him clean latrines for the Muzzies at GITMO!

Re #3, I am not well-versed, but I checked his Wiki page. His promotions to Major and then later to Lieutenant Colonel coincided with specific job placements. Other than that, there didn’t seem to be a rush to move this guy up the ladder. I think the DoD was probably thrilled to dump him on te NSC. He has to have been a colossal pain wherever he was...

Alexander Vindman was brought to the White House National Security Council Office by the Obama crew. If they had any inkling that Vindman was anyone other than a partisan Democrat, Vindman never would have been picked for the job at the White House as the last thing the Obama crew would do is give a Republican a job involving foreign policy matters in the Obama White House. Still odder is that is that the Obama crew also picked Vindman’s twin brother to also work in the White House National Security Council Office. So the Obama crew actually had two Vindman brothers, both born in the Soviet Union, who came to the USA as children and Russian Jewish refugees with their parents, employed in the White House National Security Council Office engaged in formulating US foreign policy towards Eastern Europe, who almost certainly hold personal animus against Russia and support everything that the USA can do for Ukraine, the frontline enemy of Russia. It appears that even the Ukrainian Government figured that out, as they offered Alexander Vindman the position of Defense Minister of Ukraine, at least three times, after he retires from the US Army? Vindman acknowledged that job offer from Ukraine during his testimony.

Dressed in in full garb, with his festooned cap (that's just the word that comes to mind here) he did not look like an American soldier. Rather, he looks more like a Party functionary in the East Bloc of USSR days.
And listening to him confirms it. An apparatchik with delusions of grandeur.

My questioning: "Lieutenant Colonel, your dress blues appear to be a little tight on you. When was the last time you wore them prior to these hearings? Oh, you don't wear a uniform in your current job? Then, why are you wearing one today? And since you're such a stickler for military protocol, why did you evade your chain of command when attempting to place the Commander-in-Chief on report? As a representative of the Executive Branch, were you not ordered by the CinC - under the umbrella of executive privilege - to refrain from appearing before Congress? Did you consider that order to not be lawful?"

As to the LtCol’s military awards: the top long one is the CIB (Combat Infantry Badge) awarded to infantrymen in combat (obviously) who have faced direct fire from the enemy and for officers (as Vindman) to receive the award, he should have commanded troops in combat but he was in MI (Military Intelligence) which does not engage the enemy directly so his having a CIB is a bit unusual. The wings below the CIB are the Basic Parachutist Badge, awarded for successful completion of Basic Airborne Training and five jumps from military aircraft. The most curious one to me is the small curved one on his pocket flap which is the Ranger qualification, a 9-week leadership school that is one tough course but I landed on a website which had a comment from someone who was in Vindman Ranger class. This man said Vindman was disliked by his colleagues because first he was a “Chow Thief” meaning he was stealing other men’s food in the field and second because he was “lazy” so much so his peers wanted to “peer him out” (vote him out of the school) but the cadre would not permit them to get rid of him as headquarters decreed they needed him to pass because of his very valuable language abilities.

Sorry for double post but I didn't see yours until after I chimed in. Love the Python reference! Vindman=Naughtius Maximus.

Interesting on how he insisted on being called by his military title when so many Democrats do not refer to President Trump by his title President.

One has been thinking all day Representative Nunes could have made a point by responding:
Of course it is Lieutenant, colonel Vindman.
Emphasis is everything.
Maybe in some universe Vindman is a Petty, officer.
Wait...

Vindman thinks its his job to run foreign policy. He's obviously one of those Barry replacements.

Re #7, Vindman was detailed to the NSC in July 2018. On John Bolton’s watch. Prior to that:
Beginning in 2008, Vindman became a Foreign Area Officer specializing in Eurasia. In this capacity he served in the U.S. embassies in Kiev, Ukraine, and Moscow, Russia. Returning to Washington, D.C. he was then a politico-military affairs officer focused on Russia for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Vindman served on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon from September 2015 to July 2018.[2]

Re #8, have a look at the dress uniform as of 2008 (that date is no surprise. The male officer in the center of this photo looks almost like Vindman. And you are right. These don’t look like American soldiers...

It appears that the man is a glorified Russian-Ukrainian interpreter who believes that he runs US foreign policy and has been attempting to take down the elected President of the USA.
