The worst piece of advice
ever to Trump

Jonah Goldberg, writing at National Review, says that President Trump is guilty and should apologize.
In l’affaire Ukraine, the president is guilty as charged. And the best strategy for him to avoid impeachment by the House and perhaps even removal by the Senate is to admit it, apologize, and let voters make their own judgment. It’s also the best way to fend off a disaster for Senate Republicans.
This is one pathetic piece of advice which could have been written by any of many NeverTrumpers like Boot, Noonan, Rubin, Brooks and Romney, who like to pretend they still are conservatives.
Jonah Goldberg, world renowned boot-licker of the cocktail circuit in DC, and friend to no actual Conservative, remains a George Soros toady.

I don't think Jonah is still with National review. I don't know why he left but I can guess.

I'm not sure how I'd take it if a neighbor came into my house, p!ssed on my sofa, kicked my dog, or badmouthed my son.

Regardless of the obvious political disagreements with the author of the ievr, it bothers me tremendously that the comments about him are so personal. That's better left for some other forum.

Excellent summation. Could use some serious editing. Does Goldberg have such a huge following that his opinions are considered relevant? I rather doubt it.

Jonah knows dang-well Trump isn't guilty. He's a card-carrying Never-Trumper. I stopped listening to this arrogant jerk long ago.

Anyone who paid attention to how the Dems played Jeff Sessions would know this is correct, it is the worst advice ever to Trump.
Sen Sessions had been in the Senate thru its days/years/decades of collegiality where Dems and Reps got along well even while disagreeing on policies.
Dems convinced Sessions that all would be forgiven if he'd just recuse himself about Trump impeachment/Russia so he did.
What a mistake!
Think Donald Trump is as naive as Jeff?
Nope.

Jonah...Your mother, Lucianne, just read your advice and she is mad. There is going to be hell to pay for your stupid comment around the Thanksgiving table this year.

This is not your Richard Nixon impeachment. And, President Trump is no wimp, and he's no liar either.

This article is more than a hit job on Jonah Goldberg. The author has a great list of grievances for why the old school, middle of the road "Republicans" have failed and why their advice should not be followed. Jonah Goldberg is a disappointment and embarrassment to all of the regular visitors to this site because they are so disappointed with his tack. It would be nice if some soft spoken, show the other cheek type of Republican President, could be a successful advocate for conservative values but that just doesn't work, I don't know that it ever did. This one fights.

Jonah Goldberg needs to apologize to his Mom, to all Lucienne readers, and to President Trump, for being an idiot.

I don't read Jonah's garbage, but I'm curious: exactly WHAT is the president guilty of? I read the transcript. There's no there THERE!

Negotiate with the crocodile to it will eat you last! How pathetic. How ill informed. I am surprised. Jonah should know better.

I've been quite disappointed in the level of never-Trumpers' fury the last three years. They might be more credible if the left wasn't so corrupt and depraved. I'm an American nationalist now and the republican party can go pound sand if it won't fight back against this attempt to destroy our president, our country, and everything we hold dear.

For those who say his Mom would be upset with him. We have absolutely no idea what Lucianne Goldberg thinks. There has not been a peep from her anywhere I could find for years and years. She may very well agree with her son. I love this site, and I am grateful that the family allows it to continue and let us all have a gathering place where we post the content. I also agree we should refrain from attacking the family, (Jonah) just for that very reason. In thanks and respect to them for allowing this website to carry on, no matter what their opinions may be. We can disagree with him, but not attack him personally.

1. No, the President shouldn't say he's sorry. He didn't do anything to apologize for, other than doing his job. Oh well, we've heard that already from a ton of sources. That doesn't matter to the media.
2. Saying you are sorry is the Left's equivalent for not having to change. True repentance is a prerequisite for forgiveness; "I'm sorry" really doesn't cut it, even with one's children. Today, politically, "I'm sorry's" closer equivalent, in reality, is F**You***. Perhaps that's what Jonah G actually wanted the President to say?

I stopped reading Jonah quite some time ago after so many disappointments. He is one of the number of people who used to pretend to be "a conservative thinker" who by some bizarre thing, have become entirely deranged by our President and are entirely able to get past their delusions, and irrational hatred of the man to see all the great good that he has done, and how much more he could have done if it weren't for the backstabbing fake conservatives like Jonah.
Jonah will never have my trust or support again. He has proven to be irrational, and a fraud.

I am really happy with Trump. There are rare occasions that he will do something that I think he could have handled better. I am not always right, Trump was. Rarely, I still feel Trump could have handled it better. He is President and none of the rest of us are. Never do I want him to apologize. Once the Left/media/dems/NeverTrumpers get their PC hooks into him they will NEVER let go. They will demand he apologize for his entire presidency. Part of Trump's success is that he doesn't care what these idiots say and most of the time they end up with egg on their faces.
Jonah is a lost cause. I still skim his stuff but most of the time he is a pompous dope.
