President Donald Trump has filed paperwork to change his official residence from New York City to Palm Beach, Florida. Trump quietly filed documents in September with the Palm Beach County Circuit Court changing his primary residence from Trump Tower to Mar-a-Lago, his resort in Palm Beach, the New York Times reported on Thursday. First Lady Melania Trump also changed her residence to Palm Beach with an identical filing. The documents each describe Mar-a-Lago at the Trumps' 'predominant and principal home' and state that they intend to reside there permanently. Attachments to the filings list 'other places of abode'

Not surprising. As the article mentions, he doesn't spend much time in NY anyways.

Just watch—New York will claim he is still a resident. They like his money, if not him.

Can't say I blame him one bit. F NY. F Decommieo. F NY taxes. They just banned foie gras so that's it. Since he can't have a decent lunch or dinner there anymore, it's definitely time to pack it up.

I would have done the same thing. Rush Limbaugh did, and hundreds of other former ''snow birds.'' There's an old saying that if I had a farm in New York and a home in Hell, I'd sell my farm and go home. My idea of hell is having to live in NY, CA, or anywhere near the DC complex of blue nosed communities.

Congrats on your huge pay raise and very smart business decision to change your address to low low tax rate, State of Florida.
Rush did the same thing, so check with him for any questions.

Mayor Wilhelm Warren, aka Bill DeBlasio, complained about DJT coming to NYC and causing security headaches. The mayor can now be happy.
But NYS will test the actual change in residence by finding out who DJT uses as a dentist, physician, pharmacy. This move will cost NYS and NYC loss of state and local income tax revenues in the millions of dollars each year.

Why should he give them money when they keep trying to publish his old tax returns. New York deserves the pay cut

I’ve been wondering when Donald would wise up and tell NY to take a hike. When you’ve got the NY Attorney General running for election promising that she’ll release Trump’s tax returns, when every scummy politician from de Blasio, to Vance, to Cuomo is disrespecting you and taking cheap shots at the guy who is their President and when they take the Trump name off the NYC ice rink that he took over and got it to work when no one could....then it’s time to say “AMF” (adios mother fu***r)).
Oh, and about that federal financing for a new Hudson River Tunnel, tell Cuomo and Schumer FUGGEDABOUDIT

#3 is correct. As long as they own any homes or apartments in New York, the New York government will continue to say they are residents of New York and are required to pay state taxes. This is how NY operates. The Trumps aren't the first to leave New York.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Trump’s NY Penthouse is already owned by a corporation that is not owned now by Trump for tax purposes - like Barron owns it... Trump is giving away his salary, and other business us in a trust, she would expect his change in residency has already been fixed thatvNY has no ability to get ANY income tax out of him.

I voted with my feet last month just as the President did. Liberated myself from under the thumb of Comrade Phil "you're not paying your fair share" Murphy. Filed domicile declaration in Palm Beach County and sent NJ a goodbye and good riddance change of address form and severed ALL connections with NJ. Screw them.

#13, you remind me of the several time BO would take a fun trip to NYC to take his blushing bride out for dinner and a show or something. Traffic would be tied up all over the place for hours and hours. Nice treat for Michelle, sure; but frivolous in time, expense and inconvenience, for the motley rabble, that is.
Out of NYC will be a better environment for Barron, too. Maybe they'll find a space in their hearts and lives for a Canine?????

Presumably Trump has a lot of deferred compensation. It will now all be immune from NY state income tax. In fact, it won't be taxed at all at the state level, since Florida has no state income tax. Good job, NY. You just gave up millions in state and city taxes.

Sounds good, especially as they are not welcome in the People's Republic of New York, which will gladly raise taxes more to cover the shortfall.
