There's no doubt Democrats in Washington are hellbent on impeaching President Trump over the Ukraine matter. But after weeks of polling, it is still unclear precisely what Americans outside the Beltway think.
Much depends on how pollsters ask their questions. Some are straightforward, while others are a bit more complicated, but in the last few weeks, many have been a variation of: Do you support or oppose impeaching Trump?
A new poll, however, done by Suffolk University for USA Today, gets at some of the nuance behind public opinion on the president and Ukraine.
The Suffolk pollsters gave 1,000 registered voters an opportunity to choose among three options regarding impeachment.

I bet a good number of these people don't know that there is an agreement between Ukraine and the United States. Unless I am all washed up on this, there was an article posted on this very subject a few weeks ago. Does this poll ask that question? Of course not. People believe what the media tells them and are misinformed.

Polls are useless at this point because they are being driven by leaks from dems to media. The leaks are grossly false portrayals of secret testimony in from the dem's basement hearings. That is all the public knows. Given that, the public "opinion" has been manipulated and of course is more positive to impeachment, the theme of the narrative.
As open hearings are held and video capture of witnesses being cross examined is available and, as usual, their stories falling apart into dust is seen, public opinion will shift and the public will be angry over the dems wasting our time once again. The reason the hearings have been secret is to build this narrative and shift public opinion. Given only one sided information, of course it worked. That is WHY we don't do such things in secret, why trials are public, and why we have the right to face and cross examine our accusers; all too often they are lying or they are offering opinion instead of fact.
Poll about the outcome of the Mueller investigation and compare it to the public opinion in the middle of it as they were leaking information and the media kept declaring that the "walls were closing in on Trump". The final outcome, with NO charges, was what determined final public opinion despite all the hype.

First, the article mischaracterizes the phone call. Second, under Democrats rules, all Jeffry Dahmer had to do was run for president. Apparently, any criminality can't be pursued by an incumbent due to conflicts of interest...
...unless of course, the incumbent is a Democrat. Then, the pursuit of the merest possibility of jaywalking can be pursued with all the investigative resources of government, regardless of whether crimes are committed by the investigators, and the jaywalking, 3rd hand slander.

I am not all that concerned with polls. Clearly, 2016 put their veracity in question. The polls got it all wrong, but what concerns me is that they are used not to inform but to prop up a narrative that the left wants to drive home. I just don’t believe they are much more than an arm of propaganda that the left uses to push their agenda. My question is where are the pollsters questioning? Out here in flyover country we will occasionally be polled but for the most part it is on local or statewide issues or as a come on for a donation. Polls are an industry all on their own and depending on who is paying for the information, the results will mysteriously provide them with the answers they desire. Those that don’t won’t see the light of day. It’s all politics, all the time which is why a real poll taken by the voters in November 2016 was such a shock.

Reading Byron York is never a waste of time.
Meanwhile, there's a segment of the electorate not clearly revealed in such polling: the "Jaywalking" segment, from the man-on-the-street interviews made famous by Jay Leno. That is, people so ignorant of basic, relevant information, they are the source of comedy, embarrassment, polling "noise," and electoral chaos.

A poll like this only reflects how the BS from the media is being eaten and so is only a poll of media effectiveness. Since few people even follow news events to the degree to comprehend the poll is meaningless. If I was polled on this I would have been one who did not respond and it wouldn't be because I don't have an opinion.

Why doesn’t Byron write an article about all of the polls during the 2016 campaign that had Hillary winning in a landslide and tell us what was wrong with them.

And why exactly is it an impeachable offense to ask the Ukraine to help the US find out to what extent prior Ukrainian officials tried to collude with the DNA and Hillary to best Trump? Did we not spend Billions to prove that Trump colluded with Russia - but Trump can't get at the truth about Hillary colluding with the Ukrainians? This makes no sense. It just proves that roughly 40% of Americans are entrenched in their hatred of Trump and there is nothing that will change their minds.

Bi-Ron, the fact that you penned the phrase " it is still unclear precisely what Americans outside the Beltway think" makes it sound as if someday you will .
You just keep on reporting the reports of other reporters and you'll never know- until the polls close.

News driven by polls is lazy. These “journalists” need to get to work and actually do so investigative reporting.

The ultimate question should be why? Most Americans who want impeachment have no idea what an impeachable offense is. They think the fact they do not like Trump, is grounds for impeachment.
Maybe these pollsters should first ask the respondent if they, in fact, know the grounds for impeachment.
Because of this lack of understanding of those polled about impeachment, the public polls have no value whatsoever.

They have investigated and investigated and investigated President Trump. Super "intelligent" legions of Democrat attorneys and found.....NOTHING I wish my life could stand up to that kind of scrutiny! Give up for goodness sake! They are just scared because they know none of their crybaby socialist candidates have a chance of beating him in the next election; AND
.......would somebody check out that stupid attack dog of a democrat committee chairman? When he is on camera, his eyes look like he is on coke. Am I the only one who sees that??
