Suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel has been permanently removed from office after a full vote by the state Senate Wednesday.
That decision was largely by Republicans, with Democrats mostly voting to reinstate Israel, also a Democrat. But neither party voted unanimously, leaving the final tally at 25-15 in support of Israel’s removal. (Snip) DeSantis suspended Israel in January, signing an Executive Order citing the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s (BSO) handling of the shootings at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in January 2017.

I don't blame him for the actions of his deputies during the shooting, but I do condemn him for his actions before the shooting. Nicholas Cruz should never have been allowed in that school, or to buy a gun. Israel's office ignored multiple warning signs about him because he was a minority and to curry favor with the Obama administration. I doubt he'll be reelected. He's a white male and doesn't have a race card to play like Marion Barry.

That guy reminded me of Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars. Fat-faced, poor command of english, arrogant condescension, weird phrases, how did a guy like that ever get as far as he did in law enforcement? He was...a schmuck. If only Dana Loesch had known how the cowardly deputy Scott Petersen had taken a joyride around Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on his little golf cart instead of confronting the shooter, if how the other Broward deputies set up a safe perimeter for themselves instead of engaging the gunman, she could have shut the whole auditorium up. Goodbye sherriff, go schuck some clams somewhere.

He got far by being a big Democrat politico. He used to brag that Hillary considered him for Attorney General.
I DO hold him accountable for the coward actions of his deputies. They were behaving according to training and standards he set. Fire the cowards; hold management responsible.

Scott Israel is a top-finalist for failure of the century. HE is directly responsible for having placed other equally-incompetent, PC focused cowards like Scot Peterson and Jan Jordan in their positions. HE is completely and totally responsible for the overall failure of the department under his command to be prepared to end the killer's rampage as quickly as possible. HE is guilty of trying to cover up his failure, and that of his subordinates by attempting to deflect blame onto the NRA and others. He is a complete, miserable failure and should shut up and go away.
I'm currently reading Andrew Pollack's book "Why Meadow Died". It is gut-wrenching. Please buy it. Because it properly lays the blame at the feet of those responsible, Mr. Pollack is being ignored by the enemedia, and his book ignored. His daughter died because of gross negligence on the part of adults entrusted with her safety and that of her fellow students. Please buy his book today. You need to know the ugly truth about the threat that PC-driven education policies CONTINUE to pose for children in public schools.

You have to be very proud of a legal system that took nearly three years to do this (not counting the near-certain appeals).

Democrats are only interested in punishing incompetence, malfeasance, corruption, sexism, racism, criminality etc when the accused isnt a democrat. Had Israel been a republican, tge dems would have voted against him unanimously.

Israel should be "nifonged" - - not just removed but indicted, convicted, and jailed.
Then maybe he can do another CNN "town hall" - - ripping gun owners and conservatives - - from the prison yard.

The man is not a leader; he's nothing but a politician. He was in charge of those deputies and he was responsible for the additional killings after they arrived at the school and sat behind trees and cars when there was a lone gunman who could have easily been taken out. I spit on Scott Israel and the monster David Hogg that he created.

Notice how the Democrats decided to stick together, and not vote to remove?
Wonder if that may haunt them in their next election, as it certainly indicates they care more about the party than they do about the actual safety of the children in Florida.

Scott Israel should have been fired on day one of the tragedy. That he wasn't, is a disgrace. Democrats don't give a d... about children.I hope the R's are smart enough to use the fact that the D state senators voted for retaining Israel, in the upcoming election.

Israel knew what was going on at Parkland. He was a proponent of the Promise program. Read "Why Meadow Died". The book explains, in detail, what the school board, especially the school superintendent, the school itself, the sheriff and the liberal protection of their programs did to allow this tragedy to happen.

Long before Parkland the corrupt law enforcement officers of Broward were called "the cowards from Broward." There were always countless abominations committed by them to which they were inevitably unaccountable. My favorite? A mentally challenged youth "attacked" an officer with a tree branch... and was shot dead. Consequences? None, except for the poor guy's family.

Scott Israel most certainly deserves to be removed from office and the next election should remove others as well. The children and voters of Florida deserve better.

I live in Broward, Douglas is not too far from where I work. Many of my clients are residents of Parkland.
He is so arrogant and uncaring. He needs to slink away for good. And yes he is Jewish.
I believe he plans to run again for the sheriff position. All the Democrats here will vote for him.

The leader of "Broward's Cowards" is out after almost two years. But he's going the Marion Barry route and running for re-election in 2020. Heavily Democratic Broward County may well re-elect him.
