The government’s citizenship chief said Wednesday that there’s no need to amend the Constitution to stop automatic citizenship being granted to illegal immigrants, though he said he’s not sure whether President Trump could act alone or whether it would take a law from Congress. Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, said that second issue still needs study, but he said he has a firm belief that the Constitution allows it. “I do not think you need an amendment to the Constitution. I think the question is do you need congressional action or can the executive act,”

Since this came about from a leftard judge's ruling, there shouldn't be any need for a constitutional change. Just stop observing it and retro-actively toss out the citizenship of all who stole it that way.

There is NO birthright citizenship. Never legally has been. This was discussed and settled back when the constitutional amendment was passed to insure former slaves were accepted as citizens. The amendment ONLY applied to them.
Congress NEVER passed legislation to extend citizenship to people of other countries born here. Democrats simply allowed it to be assumed.
It was internationally understood, (till globalist liberals deliberately confused things) that the children of any person was a citizen of their parent's country, no matter where they were born.

The Constitution now says whatever any 5 out of 9 Supreme Court Justices want it to say at any point in time. One problem with governing through fiats by a judicial oligarchy is that a different 5 out of 9 Justices can always decide that they want the Constitution to say something different.

The US has been running ( poorly at times, but running) on rules and regulations issued by un-elected bureaucrats and EO's for 8 years, so just have Cuccinelli issue a halt to birthright citizenship and chain migration. Then tell the American people that the only legal opinions the executive branch will entertain, will have to come from the Supreme Court or Congress, if they go on record and cast votes.

Visiting with an old friend in Florida who leans abit left, mostly on environmental issues, although he is an ACTUAL legitimate field botanist (been on many Nat Geo expeditions), so is quite rational and I agree with him on his kind of environmental laws, mostly water quality issues for streams (too much nitrogen runoff) and sensible, sane habitat protection.
In any case, he brought this up - that it was incredibly stupid to let them come here an create an anchor baby to haul in the whole three generational family. We will find a LOT fo support for this if we will push on it.

Just do it by executive order and pick up the pieces later. The democrats and liberal judges are in no position now to be pushing anybody around.

There never was "birthright citizenship", except for children born to former slaves after 1865.
Any other reading of the Amendment is false.
The goal of the Dems after 1865 was to nullify the victory of the Civil War, and keep the entire South as a fief of the Democratic (white) party. That was the purpose of Jim Crow. That was the purpose of the KKK. Second-class citizenship endured for another 100 years after 1865, as evidenced by the "separate but equal" approach to citizenship. It took a long time to right that wrong.

What's the use? An Obama judge somewhere will overrule it.

Yes! Stop the ridiculous & dangerous anchor baby policy which encourages human trafficking, illegal entries, health dangers to the mothers and the general population and unending welfare & medical expenses. This issue needs to be addressed and decided as soon as possible, as have been so many other urgent issues facing America during the past 3 years! Thank you, Pres. Trump!
Pres. Trump is tackling each of the issues which have been deeply troubling & divisive in this country, conflicts which have been neglected, even created, by past Legislators and Presidents. Enough already! God bless Pres. Trump for his wisdom & leadership!!!

If this does not happen, retroactively even, the USA is finished, given the migration patterns in California and Texas.
