Madison, Wis.—The nation's largest independent spice retailer is peppering Facebook with ads calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Wisconsin-based Penzeys Spices spent nearly $100,000 on Facebook ads last week calling for Trump's impeachment, making it one of the largest social media spenders on impeachment to date. Facebook says Penzeys spent nearly $96,000 on ads supporting impeachment between Oct. 4 and Oct. 10. The Wisconsin State Journal reports Tuesday that one post generated 257,000 reactions, 55,000 comments and 45,000 shares. House Democrats are pursuing an impeachment inquiry to investigate Trump's suggestion that Ukraine investigate the business dealings of Joe Biden's

Does the military have some orders it can cancel?
Also, does Penzeys believe that Republicans don't cook?

Rod Dreher wrote this article on Bill Penzey in November 2016. "Bill Penzey’s Spices Ain’t Nices” A sample:
When I lived in Philadelphia, I used to shop at a Penzeys Spices shop in my neighborhood. I was especially fond of their Bavarian spice blend. Penzeys says the spice blend comes from, or is at least inspired by, the cooking of owner Bill Penzey Jr.’s grandmother. Nothing tastes better on pork loin or roasted turkey than that stuff. Just the other day I told my wife that I wanted to get some more of it for the holidays, and — not kidding about this — I was planning to go to the Penzeys website and order some by mail.
But: a reader just forwarded the latest e-mail newsletter from Bill Penzey Jr.. I had a vague sense that he was some kind of genial Ben & Jerry’s progressive, but I did not realize until reading this, then spending a bit of time googling, that he’s also a jerk. Here’s what he sent to his customers:

So, the rodeo clown that dared to wear an Obama mask - without commentary - was fired.
And God forbid we have a Chick fliipin Fil A near a college campus.
Is anybody out there slightly annoyed at this KorektThought crap?

I vow to never buy Penzey's spices. But truth be told I never have. Guess there was a secret reason all along. Business people who use their company name to p' off half the potential customer base deserve to look up at Chapter 7 and wave bye bye to a paycheck.

Yep, we were happy when Penzey opened a store in Tucson. Great collection of hard to find spices. Stopped shopping there a couple of years ago because of anti Trump comments.

Re #2, Dreher has a great side story in his article. Seems that the father of Penzey and his sister started the family spice business. When he died, he willed it to the sister. She and her husband run the ORIGINAL business as The Spice House. Dreher has no idea as to their politics because they don’t lecture. They just sell very nice spices.
Bill Penzey, who did not inherit Dad’s business, started his own company.
Those who are interested can find The Spice House here.

I was already boycotting the place because the owner called us all deplorables.
And, I have actually bought spices there before the last election.

Several years ago I bought some spices as Penzey's store on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. I still have a few of the less used spices on my shelf. As I use them up I say 'goodbye' to Penzey's forever.

#8 - thank you for the link! We have used Penzeys blends for years without having a clue about their politics. You've provided an alternative, so bye-bye Penzeys!

Years ago, long before Donald Trump was running for office, we stopped at one of their stores in WI and buy some spices. On the way out of the store I picked up one of their catalogs for the recipes. The catalog had more than just recipes in it, it was filled with anti-conservative rants. We've never made another Penzey's purchase.

I was visiting Minneapolis this past summer and saw Penzey's, went in, bought some nice cinnamon. After I got home, saw they had ads promoting abortion somewhere (can't remember) and decided no more Penzey's for me.

His sister's business, The Spice House, is a gem. I used the 'nopolitics" code when I read the article in 2016. The spices are terrific and no preaching! I tried Penzey's years ago and that loser was ranting about things back then. I got sick of his grouchy virtue-signaling and quit taking his catalog. He is the sort who always needs a new windmill to tilt at.

Why do these idiots inject their political garbage into their company business?
Just sell the products and press on.
Take Yeti Coolers, Dick Sporting Goods for example: their anti-gun positions have cost them dearly.

It is a fatal mistake when businesses, athletes and musicians step into a political arena and take sides and go negative hostile and insane over whatever it is that's taking up free rent in their heads. All it does is alienate and drive away half of their potential and actual customers and fans. I have never heard of Penzeys until now, and with that, I can make sure I never buy any of their products.

I loved Penzeys spices and always made an effort to visit their stores when traveling because there wasn’t a store anywhere near where I lived. Then I started buying on line and getting their catalogs which had great recipes and nice stories about the recipe contributors. Over time, Bill Penzey started ranting and raving in his intros to the catalog so I emailed him to express my dismay at his attitude towards his customers who didn’t agree with him politically. He sent a rude, nasty email back saying he didn’t care if he lost my business as he had plenty of business from his like-minded customers. Well, I’m sorry I won’t be getting anymore of the wonderful curries, cinnamons, and Tuscan Sunset but I refuse to be insulted by commie nincompoops. A pox on Penzeys.

I ordered Penzey's spices from their catalog for years. They were fresh and REASONABLY PRICED. Then some years ago I started noticing the global stuff Bill Penzey started writing about and it didn't take me long to stop ordering from them. I checked them on line not long ago and their prices are exorbitant and everything now comes in glass jars which cost more and more for postage. I now buy what I need locally but may try The Spice House for replacements.

As a 75 yo male, GOP, I only cook simple things. So, I confess I have never heard of this spice company. I am sure they don't care.
