Crazy and Woke on the Western
Front of Progressive Insanity

The reason progressive extremism persists in America today is because progressives either are making money by embracing progressive policies, or because progressives are not living on the front lines of progressive insanity. It is hard to imagine a place that would have an electorate any more progressive than Venice Beach. Located on the shores of West Los Angeles in California’s 33rd Congressional District, Venice Beach is represented by Democrat Ted Lieu, who was reelected in 2018 with 70 percent of the vote. But a revolution is brewing in Venice Beach, because Venice Beach is on the front lines of progressive insanity.

This should be a Must Read. It is a riveting detailed, graphic depiction of what is happening in Venice Beach, California, where the homeless have taken over the streets, threatening the residents and covering the place with poop and garbage. The councilmen are corrupt and no officials will take any responsibility except to plan super-expensive housing that benefits their donors. These woke liberals have written scathing letters to their officials and some of them are now working with the Trump administration to get federal help. One man is quoted as saying that he will never vote for a Democrat again.

Look, support for the homeless is a long con real estate play. As soon as real estate prices go down enough that they can buy up a lot of property the politicians will pass laws to clean up and gentrify blighted places like downtown LA, Venice, and SF. The homeless are there to control real estate, period. They themselves have no value.

Politicians are fearful of straying from their 'wokeness' on any issue. It's like an iron-clad religious tenet. Nothing will change until the citizens unite under a new, more conservative governing philosophy.

Well, they voted for this, and I imagine that most of them will continue to vote for it. If they decide to vote Republican, maybe they can turn California around. I wish them well, but I left California many decades ago, and when I visit friends, it makes me sad to see what it has become. If the Californians will vote out these people, and stop the insanity, they can turn it around. Otherwise, they have what they voted for, and I have no sympathy.

Today Venice tomorrow California. It is going to get worse before it gets better (if at all). The 2020 election should be an eye opener - but it won't be!

LA is my hometown, born in Queen of Angels Hospital. It breaks my heart to see what it has become. It was a wonderful place to grow up in the 50's and 60's. I went to work for the City because I was proud of LA and wanted to be part of her future. My career took me to LAX (Dept. of Airports) where I was the senior analyst for a deputy director and the department liaison to the City Council. I was a Democrat when I started that job and within a year I'd registered as a Republican. I was appalled by what I found in those infamous "closed door meetings". Twenty years ago we refugeed out of LA and settled on the homestead we had purchased six years earlier, after the Rodney King riots. We seriously considered leaving California at that time, but being a Westerner I couldn't consider anything east of the Rockies. OR and WA were the same politics, ID, MT and CO were too cold, and neither of us like the desert. We found our sanctuary, Fort Serenity, in the middle of Mendocino County; 40 acres in a 6,000 acre private wildlife preserve. We are well insulated from the madding crowds in the cities and well prepared to hunker down. We will fight the bureaucracy by ignoring it. As a former practitioner I know how lazy they are and they only work those citizens who answer notice letters. The "progressive" disease has infected the entirety of our nation, its just that some cities and states are more advanced in their symptoms. That is why President Trump's message is resonating all across our country in all demographics. MAGA is for every rural area, town, city and state. Make is so where you live.

We have a serious governance problem. Our system is based on separation of powers, because liberty depends on preventing any component of the state from accumulating too much authority — that’s how tyrants are born. For the system to work, the components have to be able to check each other: The federal and state governments must respect their separate spheres, and the branches of the federal government must be able to rein in a branch that oversteps its authority. The steady federal encroachment on state authority has created an imbalance that probably cannot be rolled back. I want to focus on the collapse of inter-branch checks in the federal government. This

‘No more paughtraits,” John Singer Sargent (1856–1925) wrote to a friend in 1907. Sargent was wry and honest. He was famous by then for his oil portraits of rich people. He’d done a thousand of them, starting with the Paris nouveau riche social climbers and then British aristocrats and American plutocrats. He was a savant, famous at 25 for Madame X, and a wonderful, intelligent artist. At 50, though, he was sick of rich people. He’d grown wealthy himself — painting those portraits — but finally declared independence. He wouldn’t, he proclaimed, do any more portraits. Well, yes and no. Yes, for the rest of his

The Supreme Court has agreed to take up a dispute over the constitutionality of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in a case that could dramatically scale back the agency's authority to police financial markets or eliminate it altogether. The court said Friday it will hear a challenge from a California-based law firm that argues the CFPB, the brainchild of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, is unconstitutionally structured. Opponents of the CFPB, created in 2010, argue that its structure violates the separation of powers, as Congress gave it broad authority to regulate mortgages, credit cards, and other consumer products,

After the so-called “blue wave” of Democratic victories in the 2018 midterm election, the grassroots of both parties looked to the 2019 off-year as a testing ground for the 2020 presidential cycles. With only four states in play and sporadic special elections, 2019’s small skirmishes were hailed as indicators for how the Republican Party would fare in 2020. The result? Well, predictions of another blue wave in 2020 have been tempered by a steady GOP wave in 2019 that signals bad news for Democrats as congressional redistricting kicks off.

Last week I wrote about a suburban Chicago school district’s Oct. 7-11 week of LGBT curriculum as an example of what the state legislature has required all Illinois public schools to teach starting next July. Although the Evanston/Skokie school district is in a very liberal area, not all parents were comfortable with their preschoolers being taught, among other things, that polyamorous families are equivalent to families of sexually faithful married biological parents, and that being gay simply means “loving” someone of your own sex. According to a local newspaper called the Evanston RoundTable, the district’s administrators and school board heard from several dozen upset parents after their children started

As a concept, freedom of speech arguably dates back to Socrates. He said to his prosecutors, "If you offered to let me off this time on condition I am not any longer to speak my mind... I should say to you, 'Men of Athens, I shall obey the Gods rather than you.'" While Plato was busy writing dialogues and showing us that Socrates was advocating for free speech more than 2000 years ago, freedom of speech as a legal right did not actually exist until the 17th century. The people of both the United States and Britain were ensured certain rights. Both countries grant freedom of speech, although in modern

So, a “clearer portrait” is being painted by leakers with the agenda of damaging President Trump. The statement comes as a month of pressure has built up behind efforts to unseat the president over a phone call with the Ukrainian president. While Democrats insist, contrary to precedent, that they do not need to hold a vote, their unwillingness to hold one may show the impeachment train is skidding off the tracks. In the giddy early days of the “impeachment investigation” over Ukraine, Democrats saw the polls move in their direction. Secrecy has always been a pretty effective incubator for corruption, and House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff's sneaky, secretive "hearings" on impeaching the president, literally held in a dank Capitol basement outside public scrutiny, are producing it in abundance. Schiff's secrecy act thus far not only shuts out the public, but excludes relevant opposition members of Congress from so much as listening to this Schiff show. Congressmen from the "wrong" party, such as Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, an interested party with a right to be there as a member of the House Judiciary Committee if anyone does, have just about literally been kicked out.
