The reason progressive extremism persists in America today is because progressives either are making money by embracing progressive policies, or because progressives are not living on the front lines of progressive insanity.
It is hard to imagine a place that would have an electorate any more progressive than Venice Beach. Located on the shores of West Los Angeles in California’s 33rd Congressional District, Venice Beach is represented by Democrat Ted Lieu, who was reelected in 2018 with 70 percent of the vote. But a revolution is brewing in Venice Beach, because Venice Beach is on the front lines of progressive insanity.

This should be a Must Read. It is a riveting detailed, graphic depiction of what is happening in Venice Beach, California, where the homeless have taken over the streets, threatening the residents and covering the place with poop and garbage. The councilmen are corrupt and no officials will take any responsibility except to plan super-expensive housing that benefits their donors. These woke liberals have written scathing letters to their officials and some of them are now working with the Trump administration to get federal help. One man is quoted as saying that he will never vote for a Democrat again.

Look, support for the homeless is a long con real estate play. As soon as real estate prices go down enough that they can buy up a lot of property the politicians will pass laws to clean up and gentrify blighted places like downtown LA, Venice, and SF.
The homeless are there to control real estate, period. They themselves have no value.

Politicians are fearful of straying from their 'wokeness' on any issue. It's like an iron-clad religious tenet. Nothing will change until the citizens unite under a new, more conservative governing philosophy.

Well, they voted for this, and I imagine that most of them will continue to vote for it. If they decide to vote Republican, maybe they can turn California around. I wish them well, but I left California many decades ago, and when I visit friends, it makes me sad to see what it has become.
If the Californians will vote out these people, and stop the insanity, they can turn it around. Otherwise, they have what they voted for, and I have no sympathy.

Today Venice tomorrow California. It is going to get worse before it gets better (if at all). The 2020 election should be an eye opener - but it won't be!

LA is my hometown, born in Queen of Angels Hospital. It breaks my heart to see what it has become. It was a wonderful place to grow up in the 50's and 60's. I went to work for the City because I was proud of LA and wanted to be part of her future. My career took me to LAX (Dept. of Airports) where I was the senior analyst for a deputy director and the department liaison to the City Council. I was a Democrat when I started that job and within a year I'd registered as a Republican. I was appalled by what I found in those infamous "closed door meetings".
Twenty years ago we refugeed out of LA and settled on the homestead we had purchased six years earlier, after the Rodney King riots. We seriously considered leaving California at that time, but being a Westerner I couldn't consider anything east of the Rockies. OR and WA were the same politics, ID, MT and CO were too cold, and neither of us like the desert. We found our sanctuary, Fort Serenity, in the middle of Mendocino County; 40 acres in a 6,000 acre private wildlife preserve. We are well insulated from the madding crowds in the cities and well prepared to hunker down. We will fight the bureaucracy by ignoring it. As a former practitioner I know how lazy they are and they only work those citizens who answer notice letters.
The "progressive" disease has infected the entirety of our nation, its just that some cities and states are more advanced in their symptoms. That is why President Trump's message is resonating all across our country in all demographics. MAGA is for every rural area, town, city and state. Make is so where you live.
