Democrats are turning California into a third-world hellhole without electricity, water, and freedom.
Due to Democrats' love for trees, at least 800,000 Californians will be without power for several days. Instead of properly managing California forests to reduce the chances of big fires, Democrats are saying Californians have to go without lights, refrigerators, and air-conditioning. Democrats could also avoid this by not making the power company financially liable for all forest fire damages, but since PG&E is a company, not an illegal alien, the Democrats couldn't care less about doing what's best for California.
While they try to blame climate change and the infrastructure,

They care for trees only because they are a tool to control the populace.

I side with the electric company on this. If the company is blamed for someone else's stupidity, then I'd stop offering my services during that time, too. If the people don't like it, they can take it up with the ones who refuse to deal with the real problems.
By the way, who is the government going to blame when all the power is shut down and fires STILL start? Other CA companies beware!

These people aren't progressive. They are regressive. They are going backwards, and call it progress. It is shades of Atlas Shrugged where everything fell apart thanks to government policies.

Spoke with my son in Modesto yesterday. Modesto is smack dab in the Central Valley and they're in no danger of wildfires. They're not shutting off his electricity but they are shutting off his gas! He, and everyone else is puzzled and angry. But, I'll bet he'll vote Democrat again!
We just retired and moved from California to North Carolina. One of the things I hated about the 'new' California (I was a 3rd generation Californian) was the fascist dictates of the utility companies. They were constantly raising rates or lowering baselines or adjusting 'tiers' to extort you into using less and less power. They even sent letters saying "You're using more power than 80% of your neighbors". And no, there is no difference between the utility companies and the government. The companies are tightly controlled by the politically appointed Public Utilities Commission. Normal people have tremendous bureaucratic hurdles to overcome to try and make their complaints known - even if they know who to contact. And, with regard to the fire liabilities - the state legislation was lobbied to allow the companies to pass the buck to the ratepayers. The reason they're squeezing the ratepayers now is to make them cry 'Uncle!' and accept more rate increases!

The only way things will change in California is to have an uprising of VOTERS. When they get sick and tired of the Democrats ruling their lives they will vote Republican! Simple as that! Until that, I don't have sympathy for them. You reap what you sow!

Doubt any of the libs were inconvenienced. Their backup generators burning fossil fuels kicked in. This was brown our rather than a blackout. The first place the switch should have been thrown is the Governor's mansion and the State Capital Bld.

Smart move for PG&E to cut expenses and never lose a cent of income. Needs to happen often but we need to invest heavily in Generator manufacturing companies!

That's OK. California is changing the minds of millions of shamed and guilt-ridden liberals, who were brainwashed their whole lives by the left and their useful idiots in the environ-mental movement and government. They are realizing they are really conservatives. They worked hard all their lives to buy themselves some comfort and safety. They need electricity to run those air conditioners or perhaps even an oxygen concentrator (like myself) or a dialysis machine. They could die because the left won't allow logging or cleaning of brush, so there is a danger of wildfire. There are just Too Many Trees! Who is to blame? What to do?

If it weren't for the potential impact on national elections, I wouldn't care. Let California commit suicide. My most serious concerns have to do with California citizens moving to other states. Having failed to realize their own responsibility and repeatedly voting to support leftist policy failures, they bring their voting habits elsewhere. We long ago eliminated racist poll taxes and requiring that blacks pass some test to be able to vote. By I think we probably need to reinstate such for migrant Californians - especially white ones.

I hate this. Just got word that a good friend’s wedding may be cancelled because the power has been cut to the Oakland Temple (for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.) It is located in the Oakland CA hills. There is no wind and the forecast highs will be in the 70’s. Why again are lives being upended?
