IC Inspector General Atkinson’s Coup

With the dispensing of “firsthand” knowledge as a requirement for making a whistleblower complaint, ICIG Michael Atkinson unleashed what he must have known would result in multiple complaints where the basis was purely political. And in doing so, he has converted whistleblowers into nothing more than leakers and complainers.
Think about it. If there is no requirement for actually having witnessed the actions a “whistleblower” is complaining about, complaints can include anything because the protections afforded a whistleblower provides him not only anonymity but also immunity from any repercussions for making claims that aren’t true -- absent provable malice, of course.

Change the rules back. Transfer this putz to Alaska or Juarez while his termination is working its way through the system. This behavior is ridiculous!

I thought most of the intelligence community (IC) was already just leakers and complainers. Oh yea - My bad! They have prevented another 9/11. Right.

Many who read this will be shocked to find out what one rogue IG can pull off. Democrats should not be happy about this - this knife can cut two ways.
One little rumormonger, one gossip, one person disgruntled with any president can now cause the impeachment of any president - or can at least stir up an unbelievable ruckus if he simply tries.

I know these people are almost impossible to actually fire, but can't something be done about the HEAD of an agency who holds such a political bias?

These spooks and their official means of covering up everything they do are dangerous to the American people. How do we know that they have done anything useful in the past twenty years? Given the expense involved in paying thousands of people and purchasing super-secret equipment in the form of listening devices, electronic monitoring devices, drones, satellites, encryption equipment and computers, maybe we are better off just suffering through an occasional terrorist attack. If their loyalty lies with people like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama we are far better off without them.

The coup continues. Unpunished and unrestricted. Republicans apparently don't mind being sabotaged, dragged into hearings and courts, and generally being abused while completely passive. Battered politician syndrome? That's why so many are running away. With their golden pensions.
Trump alone fights.

The Inspector General Reform Act of 2008 specifies: “(b) An Inspector General may be removed from office by the President. If an Inspector General is removed from office or is transferred to another position or location within an establishment, the President shall communicate in writing the reasons for any such removal or transfer to both Houses of Congress, not later than 30 days before the removal or transfer."
There is no apparent requirement for cause. An IG serves under Presidential appointment, like a cabinet officer, with advise/consent of the Senate. (This is a bit reminiscent of Andrew Johnson's situation, which was the primary impeachment charge was violating the Tenure of Office Act.)

"Yes, add the intelligence agency to the Never Trump brigade."
Heck, I did that 3 years ago.

Michael Atkinson will go down in history as a minor, much less important version of Benedict Arnold.

Was Kruschev right? Will the Russians bury us? The USSR did not impel their politicalese upon us. We more or less picked it up on our own. The Satanic Demon who infused the English language with political correctness dirtied his diaper and moved back to his own domain. We are left with a lexicon of opposing terms; these are NOT nearly as humorous as they at first sounded. Nowadays, Dr. Gregory House notwithstanding, they are considered American Gospel.
I do not seek to be President, but I would enjoy being an IG for a time.

Since the 9/11 debacle I have lost most of my faith I had in the IC. And in today's anti trump environment, now I have no faith in the IC,or state dept,or anything else, but my President. I still have faith in him,and applaud how he has handled the constant battering of the swamp critters. But the only shining light here is knowing that what the left does only insures that Trump gets a 2nd tour as our Prez. And there is NOTHING the left can do to stop it.

Step 1: Transfer Atkinson immediately to Gitmo, where he can oversee the treatment of the muslim terrorists that he failed to stop on 9/11.
Step 2: Issue an Executive Order rescinding Atkinson's new interpretation of the whistleblower statute RETROACTIVELY as Atkinson exceeded his authority, and restore the previous, longstanding definition of whistleblower as one having direct firsthand knowledge.
Step #3: Tell the Democrats and their Fake Whistleblower to KMA!

The name of the CIA whistleblower is Michael Barry according to Google. Time to clean house. The CIA has failed this country. I remember Valerie Plame.

Gina Haspel needs to get involved. Before this became policy, she should have approved.
