One way the Democrats could fulfill their dream of crippling President Trump (as opposed to simply running him out of office) would be to stampede the Republicans, to send them running wild-eyed for shelter from shouted accusations and piercing rays of adverse publicity. There is no shortage of weak-spined GOP officeholders, and it has happened many times before. The Dems had no reason to doubt that it would happen again.
But it’s not happening. Apart from the usual suspects such as Mitt Romney (Romney as Massachusetts governor was the sole politician to hold out against the Bulger brothers, but that was a long time ago),

It may be true for some of them but 17% of the GOP members support impeachment of their own party president, for NO reason. You know there are more who are too afraid to even say it. Hopefully they have enough sense to figure out what life would be like with one of those demented democrats in the Oval Office.

Why do we pay tax dollars to support NPR? I see no service it provides of any value.

It has taken several Election cycles to weed out the corrupt RINOs and while a few will still exist, I believe DJT's second term with a Republican House/Senate/and two or maybe more Supreme Court judges will usher in a period of incredible prosperity and good things for this Country and the World!

Remember when George H. Bush spoke of a “kinder, gentler nation” in his acceptance speech? I cringed, hearing that. He was the opposite of Reagan. I hope and pray that we get another Trump after this current one, regretfully, finishes and moves on. I would welcome a third and even a fourth term because of all the ankle-biting his enemies have been doing, to keep him from doing his job!

Note to the GOP - you sure as heck had better come out swinging, or it's out on strikes for the United States of America.

Under current circumstances, any wimpy Republican Senators who would vote with the leftist and liberal Democrats against President Trump would also be taking a huge chance that their political futures will go down the will go down the drain. As they would have to be complete morons not to realize that Trump supporters in their home States will never vote for them again, and today Trump supporters are the majority of Republicans around the country.

This is an encouraging article and I too am thankful, at least a few, Republicans are pushing back. The one example he doesn't mention in this article is Kevin McCarthy. He is pushing back against Pelosi and Schiff big time. Let's give them credit and... Hope they keep it up!

The President has 95% support from Republicans..aka, the people. Every congressperson better get with the program or they're days are numbered. The left is not going away which means we have to replace the do nothing Rinos with committed, loyal and passionate congress men and women.

It is nice to hear that some Republicans have realized that they need to "grow a pair" or be destroyed by the Democrats. The Republicans need to clean their house of the RINOs and the gutless.

It is about time the Republicans circle the wagons.......the Mitt Romneys and Ben Sasses have always been a problem, but the ultra timid others, and the semi never Trumpers, are a MAJOR problem...,.can't they get beyond the bloviating and occasional crassness and SEE what Trump is accomplishing? If they can't, I would love to primary them all.

A "clean new deck of cards at the political table"? Yeah, sure.
The GOPe was beginning to get pasted by the "small contributors" about their weak efforts defending PDT. Big money was flowing, but not into their coffers directly. Mitch is the same King of Clubs, and McCarthy finally got off the dime with a letter, A LETTER, to Pelosi protesting all this House Rules falderol that has been around for a year or more. Big Deal. And it made the papers and TV news.
The bottom line is to attract the "small contributors" to the Senate and House re-election committee fundraising by this valiant action defending the President whose poll numbers are rising. The Trump campaign/RNC took in a record $125 mil in the last quarter. Through September the RNC, which Trump nominally controls, has reported $54 mil in the bank. The two Republican congressional committees have $30 mil between them. They want a bigger slice of the pie. So, they make some noise...let the Dems do the heavy lifting. It's their show!

I liked the description and have long wondered why the Republicans seemed to go into ever negotiation or discussion in a neutral position and then bargain down to what the dems want. You really have to wonder, are they THAT pathetic? Are they that spineless? Don't they realize how weak they look? After a while you realize, they ARE that weak. If the dems are such losers, as seen when Trump started to push back, how BAD are Republicans that they ALWAYS collapsed at the dems feet. Yes, dems have a real nasty side. You are going to get dirty if you fight with them. But they NEED to be fought and in the end, as we have now seen, they are stupid and incompetent, no matter how nasty they get. Dems are losers.
All we need to do is be willing to fight. The time to do so is now. The NEED to do so is now. Under Trump we are getting glimpses of what our Country can be. For that matter, what the world can be. It can be amazing if we are willing to fight the nasty, stupid, losers and move past them.
If we don't, if we are too timid, the Country that was established over 200 years ago will crumble. There is no other outcome. Another article described it as COLD ANGER. I prefer to think about it as COLD, ROCK SOLID CONVICTION. We KNOW what we have to do. We know the dems will try every slimy trick they can. We need to plow through them to victory. As we do, we need to send a message to our Republican representatives. THIS is the way we want things to be. Get on board or get OUT.

either the GOP stand up to this madness or there will be a mass exodus of conservatives to form a new party - the NCP (new conservative party)

Let us hope so. The dims' desire for power and control over others is boundless. The only way to stop them is to play harder hard ball. We need fighters, first to support the president now and second, to create an array of candidates who can replace him. The dims should be forced into more moderate positions or forced into the ground. Any of their presidential candidates would destroy the country. They are now off-the-charts left and we cannot have that.

FTA: "...this is a serious indication that a new GOP is pecking its way out of the shell." Great imagery!
We should be happy that so many Republicans are retiring from political office. We need new blood to join the good people already there who want to serve their country and its people rather than themselves.
We might try to recruit more veterans like Representatives Crenshaw and Banks (and I know there are others like them whose names I do not know), but they are patriots who love their country, are disciplined, well-educated and well-trained, and understand what our country is about. We should try to replace the retirees with people who have a different perspective.

Don't the Republicans EVER play offense? When they had the House their "investigations" of really serious Democrat crimes (Fast and Furious, etc.) were like Quaker church readings. Now that the Democrats have that opportunity, it's scorched earth 24x7 and the Republicans can barely squeak from behind their moms' skirts.
Even after Trump has shown them how to fight back and not only foil the Democrats' every fake attack but also GAIN public support, they still cower. I'm totally disgusted by them. Where are the reinforcements to support Trump???

We need to hear from our Senate. McConnell can use the nuclear option to change the rules of impeachment to match the farce in the senate. The trial can then be dismissed. Or postponed after the 2020 election. Eleven of our senators voted against The Wall recently. Romney and Sasse for impeachment, Jody Ernst and Grassley (who owe Trump ethanol) for the whistleblower co-conspirator, Mike Lee, RAND PAUL, Lisa Murkowski against funding for The Wall. Only Marcia Blackburn stepped forward to defend the greatest President. We are. Watching all of you. Last judge was approved on 9-11. We are watching the Senate ingrates closely. Step forward now, or you will be out.

Trump is the NYC street kid who knows how to really fight & lead the GOP to victory.

I am beginning to think the "timid" GOP are dishonest or have something hidden .. a deal, a relative(s) in a cozy job, payoffs, something they don't want to rock the boat on. Trump is bringing out the corruption and they are afraid of getting caught.

Nope. Rebooblicans, including my red-state congressman and senators, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory every time and will continue to do so.
