Dear Democrats, I’m mad at you. I was raised a die-hard, bleeding-heart liberal. My grandmother was an Irish Catholic New Englander who worshipped JFK almost as much as Jesus. My dad and his nine siblings sang for the Kennedys at Hammersmith Farm.
For decades, I was a loyal regular at your bar until suddenly you started ignoring me. You took my support for granted and dismissed my concerns, focusing instead on courting the young city hipsters with their scooters and their designer weed and their craft beers. You began overlooking pragmatic moderates and catering to loud extremists who favor rewriting the Constitution and accelerating our lurch towards socialism.

From my Life Application Bible: "Unborn generations are depending on our faithfulness today. As we teach our children about the Lord, so they will teach their children and their children's children. If we fail to tell our children about the Lord, we may well be breaking the chain of God's influence in generations to come. We must view our children and all the young people we meet as God's future leaders. If we are faithful in opportunities today, we may well be affecting the future."
In above article: "My grandmother was an Irish Catholic New Englander who worshipped JFK almost as much as Jesus." My comment to Bridget is as follows: I think the chain of God's influence was broken in your family if JFK was worshipped as much as Jesus. It reaffirms my belief that Democrats think they are some type of god. They are not. I think they have become power hungry and will stop at nothing to regain it.

FTA: ''So Democrats, please stop with this nonsense that people like me have left you, as you endlessly tell me on Twitter. You pushed us away.''
Whether she knows it or not, she pretty much parroted a great president from the '80's. But why do I think she'll STILL pull the lever for whichever Rat loon winds up as the candidate?

Bridget, your party's forefathers sold the soul of the country a long time ago with the roll out of the deep state while my party sat on its hands. The failures associated with both parties are reflective of the rise and fall of great civilizations. It appears that you were raised in a moral and religious vacuum when you said your grandmother "worshipped JFK almost as much as Jesus". You spoke little of your own upbringing. Broken home?
Sorry for the bad news, but, the dim party is politically and morally bankrupt. Yes, it has become a cult. But, I agree with you on one point - belief in the Creator has been replaced with obeyance to the state. Relying on the pubbies to re-align our moral compass would be a similar waste of time as the deep state has infected them too. It's not their job, anyway. It is up to you, me, and all of us to fix it.

I can relate to this. I grew up in a household that held FDR up as a God, and identified democrats as the only friend to the working man. I woke up during the Carter administration after voting for him--but not for his second term. Ronald Reagan was the first republican to receive my vote, and I have not voted for any democrat since that time.
I see the democrat leadership of today, and know I would feel like I was swimming in a cesspool if I were supportive of that unethical, untruthful, and unpatriotic political party.

I hope she is one of millions that will wake up to this great delusion.
"Now, the open-mindedness and tolerance that attracted me to the Democratic party seems like a thing of the past. Progressivism is no longer interested in ideological diversity and instead demands rigid adherence to dogma. When a movement is no longer open to dissent, the movement is dead. It is no longer a living, breathing dialogue. It’s a cult. "

Read it again # 1, you completely missed her point, and she made some very good ones. Like most poor to middle class folks in the south, my parents were die-hard democrats, even after Reagan. If they were alive today and saw what the Dems have become, they would be very much like this lady and would have never pulled the Dem handle again. Let’s just hope more people like her read this and give it some thought. Trump 2020!

"worshipped JFK almost as much as Jesus". Jesus wasn't a whoremonger, who cheated on his wife with almost anything wearing skirts who left many Cubans to die after withholding promised aid in the Bay of Pigs, and who escalated our presence in Vietnam, which led to many thousands of our young men's deaths. That's the JFK she worshipped? It just shows how blind the democrats are. And while I'm at it, Bridget, as a die hard liberal, did you still support your party knowing that they were the party of slavery, segregation and the KKK? One that still was racist when the 1964 Civil Rights act was passed? (See Johnson's statement after its passage.) No, you had plenty of time to see what the dims have become, so don't whine about how they are now. THEY haven't changed. It's you who has.

I, too, am from a large Catholic family where everyone voted democrat....except one aunt. I remember as a kid how her brothers laughed at her but in the end, she was right. My family was so excited about JFK so of course, as a kid, so was I. But once I got into the real world, I soon found out, he was nothing but a liar with a silver tongue. I left the democrats when Reagan ran and I have never regretted it.

You can stop reading after "My grandmother was an Irish Catholic New Englander who worshipped JFK almost as much as Jesus."
JFK was a narcissistic rich boy who demeaned and degraded the office of president nearly every day he held it. His behavior was almost the exact opposite of what Jesus preached. Granny Phetasy fell for a handsome face and twinkling eyes - - rather than judging JFK's abysmal character.
This family is exactly the type of unthinking dopes whom the leftists have always exploited. Nothing this woman writes has any meaning for me.

Well, I grew up in a family so Republican oriented that my rancher grandmother was almost thrown out of the clan for deciding it would be risky to vote against Roosevelt during the war. "Changing horses in midstream" was her argument. She had three sons in the service at the time.

I voted Democrat when I was younger. Today, I'd slash my wrists with a tablespoon before I'd ever cast a vote for a Democrat.

Wow great letter. Believe it or not just yesterday I began to compose a letter to my democrat senators and democrat congressman. I'm calling on them to do their jobs and break ranks and to represent me despite our differences rather than rob me, ridicule and me demonize me breeding hatred and contempt for me in the hearts and minds of my neighbors. I want them to disagree with me and meet me on the field of ideas and open debate and to reject the personal attacks.
I know it will go nowhere but it simply sickens me to see us torn to shreds and my grandchildren sold into slavery albeit behind a vial legitimate legal government compliance.

One thing is true of the Progressives/Democrats. They will never, never, never keep their promises. They are just a bunch of lies they tell to get elected. They only have contempt for the average hard working citizens of this country who they consider deplorables. They claim that they are the salvation for the desperate conditions that they themselves have created. Just look at the conditions in cities that have been in Progressive/Democrat control for any period of time.

This woman is a fraud, a fake catholic. Why would a catholic vote for the party whose very platform includes two intrinsic evils as defined by the Catholic Church: abortion and gay marriage? She will pull the lever for the Party of Moloch in 2020

I'll bet a dollar to a 'lock of JFK's hair' she's begging the democrat party to change so she can feel good to vote for them again. This is a letter begging them to change only to keep pulling the lever for them. The article could have been shorter if she had just said bye I'm walking away and that's the end.

Yes! The Democrats have become the Party of hate, vilification and 'totalitarian' demands upon all the rest of us. They're in a frenzy of desperation and have been spinning out of control for some time. Where are those 'prominent' Democrats of normal temperament who will dare speak out against these unhinged crazies? They must be as afraid and intimidated by this deranged, aggressive behavior as many others. Thank God for those men and women who are forcefully speaking out against this madness which has enveloped the Democrat Party and is threatening America.

Notice that the writer attempted to partially inoculate herself with the extreme left by mentioning that she is not a fan of President Trump.
There are a lot of old time Democrats out there who are not about to vote for a flaming leftist, will stay relatively silent, and will end up voting for Trump in the general election.

"rigid moralizing of conservatism"
This is part of the brainwashing your life among dems has accomplished.
Yes, Conservatives have standards. We stick by principles that support these standards. We are "rigid" because long established truths shouldn't be replaced by new unproven fads or rehashed failed ideas or panic driven cultism. Before we try something new we want some proof that it works better than what we already have. The dem track record in this is abysmal. Even things that they herald as a success, like Social Security and Medicare, are a bad deal for most people. Why? Because government is managing it and it is REALLY, REALLY bad at it. The next time they tell you that they can't "fund" Social Security payments, consider if you had been paying into a private account if there would be any question about whether you could get YOUR money, or if you could pass it on to your kids.
Yes, I am a bit rigid because I mostly know what works and what doesn't. If YOU want to play around with your new ideas, do it for yourself. If it fails, it's YOUR problem. When government plays around and fails, we ALL suffer. And again, government is particularly BAD at much of what they do.

Being enamored with JFK is exhibit one for a person not in tune with the world and more infatuated with the idea of camelot than reality. He didnt live long enough to prove what a fool of a president he really was. His cuban nonsense brought us closer to nuclear annihilation than anyone else in history.

#6,
Your childhood sounds just like mine...I cast my first vote ever for George McGovern, and that was my only vote ever again for a democrat. I consider myself well-informed and intelligent, but I just don't get it at all! Who in their right mind would vote for Pelosi, or even consider making her Speaker, especially after she made such a mess last time? Oh, I forgot....San Francisco.

For those of you remarking on the authors family's love of JKF, I attended Catholic grammar school in the 70s and the Nuns DID teach us to idolize him. Every classroom had a picture of him on the wall right next to that of Jesus. Maybe it was because he was the first Catholic president, or maybe they didn't know about his evil traits (which were kept well covered up by the media) but the fact remains that we were taught he was a great leader.
Of course as I got older I realized it was all baloney but such sentiment was common at the time.
