the Emmys anymore

Emmys, it’s time to check yourself before you wreck yourself.
The early numbers are telling us the 2019 Emmy Award telecast was a flop, down 22 percent from last year’s discouraging 10.2 million, which is less than what a weekly episode of “NCIS” garnered in its 16th season.
Various production choices — no host (unless you count Homer Simpson), crummy disco music, a puerile announcer — are partly to blame. But the main problem is the award itself. The Emmys don’t mean much to the American public because last night’s big winners — “Game of Thrones,” “Fleabag” and “Chernobyl” — are done, off the air, out of production, kaput.

Didn''t watch it. Have not watched it in probably 35 years. It is an absolute waste of three hours watching a bunch of narcissists patting each other on the back, showing of wardrobes no normal person would wear and then getting on stage giving political speeches lecturing the rest of us on how to live our lives when they have absolutely no knowledge of the subject matter of which they speak. Pampered, spoiled, Hypocritical and arrogant.

Don't watch much TV. Hardly see any new movies. From that perspective, its very easy to skip over the Emmys.

The Emmy Show was on? Who knew?
They should really be called "The Enemy Show" as they are always praising anti-American values. Any show --- no matter how weird --- wins while "Blue Bloods" --- after ten years near the top with great acting (although some dopey plots) ---- has never been nominated for an Emmy for anything. Think about that.

That includes the Oscars and Miss America! The preaching of Hollywood's half wits is also a venue for the knee pad brigade to signal to respective 'producers' which side of the political spectrum they are on. They are expecting at least a casting couch call. #1 said all the rest spot on!

The writer has it totally wrong. The days of people be enthralled with Hollywood celebrities are over. They come across as arrogant over-entitled fools who think they are somehow qualified to lecture the world. They produce unwatchable garbage and sit in the audience clapping like seals over how great they think they are. No thanks.

99% of the Hollywood crowd has been affected by a psychosis that severely affects their judgement. They hate Trump but what has Trump actually done that affects them so negatively.. They call him a racist but he has put more black and Hispanic people back to work than Obama ever did. To hear these celebrities spew their venom and hatred not something I am going to subject myself to so Quit watching these award shows years ago.

As expected from a Kneepad review, a total devoid of facts, shallow and vapid review of another failing awards show. Fact is, outside LA and NYC, flyover is tired of being lectured to and talk down by morally corrupt, stupid little organ grinders' monkeys. Want to be insulted? Watch an awards program. Want to see how the truly shallow live and think? Watch an award show. Want to spend your Sunday evenings doing something productive like watching paint dry or garden slugs mate? Then avoid award shows. Pep rallies for the hard left Democrat parody isn't a winning ticket. But leave it to liberals to never learn simple lessons in life.

Well stated #1. The same goes for all the other awards shows, the ones I haven't watched for 40 years.

The entertainers no longer entertain. Have forgotten how or never knew how?
Norma Desmond was right… Maybe we should bring back silent on-screen entertainments...

While I am ranting, I must add that I am sick of mind manipulation via drama and commercials. I don’t really believe our society needs to be put together by what is no longer even quota - every couple is not a black man with a white woman, every family is not a mixture of black, white, Hispanic and Asian (regardless of what cereal they eat), every supervisor in any setting from corporate office to police department is not necessarily black… Every luxury car owner (except Matthew McConaughey) is not black.
Do they really believe that they persuade, help racial relations, by forcing the situation this way? Presenting our society so falsely?

The Emmys were invented because they could not be the Oscars. TV shows are dead, or available for free on your hand-held device. Movies are dead because people with AK-47s can waltz in, shoot you dead and leave by the exit before you know your're dead. Malls are dead for the same reason and most movie theaters are attached to malls. The greater use for malls nowadays is the parking lot where divorced parents can kid-swap.

"As you probably know, we celebrities are uniquely qualified to tell you how to live and what to think, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m working hard, and I expect to have my list of rules available in a week or so. Meantime, just do your best on your own." - Pat Sajak

For people who may not know, 12's comment is satire from Sajak. More of it here at Red State: https://www.redstate.com/alexparker/2019/08/11/pat-sajak-reminds-us-omniscience-celebrity-drops-bomb-roundup-tweetsll-right/

Even if they kept politics out of award shows I still think the ratings would be low due to celebrity oversaturation. Decades ago you could only see the stars on the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys, Tonight Show and a handful of afternoon talk shows. Now, you can't escape them -- talk shows, celeb-gossip shows, Twitter, commercials, etc.

Hollywood is the world's Crime School. There are over 25,000 movies currently being viewed world wide. 90% contain some sort of evil like murder, rape and theft. A ten year old child has probably viewed thousands of murders and violence. Annually, the Hollywood criminal actors honor themselves and, unfortunately so does much of the public. Wake up, you idiots!!!

The Hollyweird crowd should stick to movie scripts. They don't know the difference that and reality anyway.

#10 I concur wholeheartedly with your thoughts and agree 1000%!!
So glad others feel the same way as I do about this onslaught of liberal
conditioning and influence peddling.
Start telling us the truth in your fake news about the REALITIES of
a race with 73% illegitimate births and so many fatherless and so
much violence. We already KNOW the truth but it is infuriating to be lied to
every damn day in the news, on the tv, in magazines and newspapers.
LIARS!!!

I think the last time I watched the Emmy's was when a streaker ran across the stage when David Niven, a fine actor, was doing a presentation. I believe he had a witty comment, but don't remember. Just like I don't remember the Emmy's.
