Seizure of Iranian Property to Pay
Americans Another Example of
Canadian Hypocrisy

While France, Germany, Russia and China seek detente, Canada is increasingly part of the US-Saudi Arabia-Israeli axis stoking conflict with Iran. Canada recently seized and sold $30 million worth of Iranian properties in Ottawa and Toronto to compensate individuals in the US who had family members killed in a 2002 Hamas bombing in Israel and others who were held hostage by Hezbollah in 1986 and 1991. The Supreme Court of Canada and federal government sanctioned the seizure under the 2012 Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act, which lifts immunity for countries labeled “state sponsors of terrorism” to allow individuals to claim their non-diplomatic assets.

You can't have it both ways Yves. Either states around the globe want to be a part of the "global community" or they don't. Those states engaging in terrorism prove they don't. For the victims of those acts we can either compensate them from assets seized from the terrorist state, or we can start nuking capitals of such states potentially starting a world war to literally end all wars. What's it going to be, Yves?

Years ago, when I lived in Europe, the Herald Tribune was the only English language newspaper and I read it avidly. That was in the 60s and early 70s. Clearly they have gone over to the dark side like NYT, and International CNN - ultra anti-American "news" sources published in English, but hating America, leftist propaganda outlets. So, now I know the answer to "What ever happened to the Herald Tribune?"....they went to lefty propaganda.

Fake News: GOP Rep. Mark Amodei
Does Not Support Impeachment,
Despite Media and Leftist Claims

Rep. Mark Amodei (R-NV), Nevada’s only GOP congressman, does not support impeachment despite false claims from the media and the left that he does, his office clarified in a statement late Friday night. He does, however, support what both the White House and all members of Congress in both the House and Senate have said they support, which is a thorough vetting of the supposed “whistleblower” complaint that led to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opening a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Amodei’s position is in actuality unremarkable and not different from any other Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

President Trump directed his fury at congressional Democrats on Saturday morning, accusing them of obstructing his agenda as more lawmakers back an impeachment inquiry. Trump referred to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, and a group of progressive congresswomen as “Savages” and “Do Nothing” Democrats. (tweet) “PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!” he wrote in a subsequent tweet. (tweet) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Tuesday her caucus would launch a formal impeachment inquiry into the president over his interactions with Ukraine and the White House’s actions in concealing a transcript of Trump’s call with the Ukrainian leader.

The impeachment of Bill Clinton in 1999 turned out exactly the way it appeared as it was happening: pointless. Do Democrats think impeaching Donald Trump will be any more pointful? Stop and take a deep breath, guys. This is a rerun from the era of “Ally McBeal” and “Frasier.” You know how this episode ends. Try to think ahead. The Democratic-controlled House can impeach a ham sandwich if they like. But convicting Trump in the Republican-controlled Senate in order to remove him from office would require 67 votes. The Democrats look like they have maybe 48.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday said that “leftist” Democrats pressured House Speaker Nancy Pelosi into launching the impeachment inquiry into President Trump, and warned that the inquiry will ultimately go "nowhere." "I think we now go to a very long and unproductive road," he said during a chat on political civility at Seton Hall Law School with former N.J. Gov Chris Christie, according to The New York Daily News. “Speaker Pelosi was dealing with pressure from her caucus and...there is a heightened leftist component to the Democratic Party that she was feeling pressure for,” Cuomo said. “She is a deliberate, responsible person. Thousands of people took to the streets of New York City Tuesday and Wednesday to call for regime change in Iran as Hassan Rouhani traveled to the Big Apple to address the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The bipartisan protest, dubbed the “No to Rouhani” rally and put on by the Organization of Iranian American Communities, was attended by members of the Iranian-American community, supporters of the Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Prominent voices and speeches at the event, which occurred across the street from the United Nations, included opposition leader Maryam Rajavi; former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani;

Donald Trump understood from day one that he could never win the presidency talking the way politicians talk. And he could never win by “acting presidential.” People came to love his hilarious campaign trail shtick where he stands upright behind the podium and woodenly pretends to “act presidential” as he struts around the stage like a toy soldier, muttering meaningless politically correct bromides. It is a still-hilarious shtick that drives crowds wild. But more important, it demonstrates just how utterly useless it would have been for Donald Trump to run as some kind of normal political candidate. No, this was a man who was out to crash the gates of Washington.

Back home in the Bronx is where I first heard the old saw about the Irishman who, coming upon a donnybrook at the local pub, asks a bystander: “Is this a private fight or can anybody join?” I was a much younger fellow then. The prospect becomes less alluring with age, so I have some trepidation stepping in between two old friends, Andrew Napolitano and Joe DiGenova. Through intermediary hosts, the pair — Napolitano a former New Jersey Superior Court jurist and law professor, DiGenova a former United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and prominent defense lawyer — brawled this

It’s on track to be the trial of the century: President Donald Trump fighting to keep his job before a jury of 100 senators. It also could never happen. Story Continued Below That’s because of a Constitution that designates the Senate with the “sole power to try” an impeachment that comes from the House. But nowhere in America’s founding document is the trial said to be a mandatory act. Sure, it would be an unprecedented move in U.S. history for Republican leader Mitch McConnell to table Trump impeachment proceedings without allowing any significant debate or a vote to convict a president from his own party,

President Trump and his allies are going on offense after explosive revelations about his dealings with Ukraine opened up a new threat not just to his reelection but to his presidency as well. Trump and those around him have questioned the credibility of the whistleblower behind a complaint alleging he sought help from the Ukrainian president to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, while insisting there was nothing improper about the phone call in question and that the media has skewed the facts.

Jeff Flake said on Thursday that if a private vote were held on the matter, at least 35 Republican senators would choose to remove Donald Trump from office. I would be tempted to observe that this is a bit like saying that millions of Americans would fire their bosses and give themselves a 1000-percent raise if they could do so by pushing a magic button, but that would mean accepting Flake's underlying premise. Why does he think that his former Senate colleagues have had it with the president? In case he hasn't noticed, with the not especially noteworthy exceptions of Mitt Romney and Ben Sasse

On Wednesday evening at an event on “political civility” with ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo offered a sharp rebuke of the Democrats’ latest cries for impeachment, blaming “leftist” Democrats for forcing Congress to begin an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. Cuomo, a Democrat himself, felt the “quote unquote inquiry” was a result of Democratic radicals in Congress pushing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to engage in an ultimately pointless exercise that would just result in political gridlock.
