By most accounts, first lady Melania Trump crushed the Australian state dinner Friday, exuding grace and elegance. But haters gonna hate. Critics — notably the disgraced New York Times — blasted her for the dress she dared to wear. The seafoam green gown by J. Mendel that first lady Melania Trump wore during the evening’s historic state dinner was reportedly already sold out by the end of the night. And this despite the critics. “By the time Mrs. Trump debuted it, the dress was marked down to a mere $1,497 and came with free shipping. And before the evening ended, it was sold out,” The Washington Post confirmed.

Not glamorous enough. Not sufficiently costly. No pizzazz…
These low class harpy reporterettes wouldn’t know class if it hit them in the face. They have no idea of what it is to be First Lady - a proper First Lady - of our great country. Her dress was not a goddess dress, but a soft, feminine, ethereal gown for the hostess of a garden dinner party at her home at the end of summer… A state dinner to honor Australia’s head of state and his wife, not a showcase for Melania’s fashions. It was a perfectly beautiful soft-looking hostess gown amongst all the hard-looking blacks and gaudy colors. It was a unique look. It also did not upstage the Australian first lady. A consideration for our First Lady that would not ever have crossed “Look At Meeee!” Mooch’s mind.

I went and found pics of Vanessa Friedman, the 50 year old Brit who is Vogue’s “fashion critic”…
Have a look at Ms. Friedman and her own taste, in living (I think) color…

Correction to #2. Homely Vanessa is the fashion critic for the New York Times. Figures.

These are the same harridans who declared Michelle Obama "beautiful" every time she had a set of flowered curtains made into a dress. I'm sure that her Chicago "custom dress designer" never set her price as low as $1,497 but, according to them, the taxpayers were only too happy to buy it for her. Melania should win some sort of award for providing the nation's psychiatrists full employment for the last three years.

FTA: ''Reportedly it cost about $6,000, which is pricey, but on the scale of expensive dresses, not so much,' the Times’ fashion critic, Vanessa Friedman, lamented in the piece.''

Poor Vanessa looks like her tin foil hat slipped down from her head and she just tied a belt on it. Yikes, it is ugly and so is she.
Now Our First Lady always looks stunning and oh so beautiful.

I must have really bad taste, too, because I think the First Lady looks stunning.

So they would have been happier if Mrs. Trump had worn a red and white stripped Barnum and Bailey tent like Mrs. Clinton? Mrs. Trump is chic, classy, and just down right elegant. Sometimes less is more.

Fortunately for the clothing designers, almost anything they could make for Melania would look good.

Yikes, #2, a pic is worth a thousand words. Sad example of "fashion". I think she is just jealous.

Nice that we no longer have a first linebacker who looked and dressed like a contestant on Rupall's Drag race.

Re #11, I agree. Jealousy. At nearly 50, Melania Trump is a fresh, wholesome-looking, very beautiful woman. Vanessa is a homely, awkward creature with absolutely horrible taste. She has no business telling anyone how to dress…or not.
Reading a bit about her, I picked up a sense that she likes the “critic” part of her job best. She is known for being harsh. That figures, too. As with Vogue’s editor, Anna Wintour, it gives her power she would not normally have.

I love Melania, but I did not like the dress. It made her look larger than she is, and did not photo well--but so what. Everything else Melania has worn I have loved. The arrangements for the state dinner were gorgeous, as have all the other arrangements Melania has done. So Melania has a lot of dresses, and out of that, there is one I don't like. That is a tremendous record.

I have to admit I was not "Wowed" by the Dress, but if anyone could make look good, Melania could! I loved the color, but didn't care for the style! That said, Melania was still lovely as she was the perfect Hostess for this dinner.

Why not come right out and admit that the swishes who descended Ivory Tower 2.1 to comment on women's wear items DID SO ON PAPER AND ON-LINE. Do not think for a minute that had the ''brutal attack'' happened in real life, they'd still be alive to chat and swish about it. The men, if any among them, are due for an oil change and a polish job on lavender loafers.

Vanessa looks like an anorexic Tin Man wanna-be. She has the Mooch boob belt thing going so we know where she gets her inspiration. The black tights and chunky shoes are in no way appropriate for that dress. She might as well have worn leggings and Birkenstocks.

Vanessa needs to eat a couple of cookies and stop looking masculine.
