A surge in “chemsex” parties, where some people spend days getting high on drugs and having sex with scores of partners, is refuelling epidemics of HIV among gay men in European towns and cities, doctors say. Despite much higher risks of contracting the virus that causes AIDS, as well as other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), users search online “hook-up” apps like Grindr for tags such as “high and horny” or “party and play” to find others wanting drug-heightened and often anonymous and unprotected sex.(Snip) Chemsex is characterised by the use of drugs such as crystal meth, mephedrone and GHB,

Does this mean we need to start setting aside more AIDS funding? Because people are too stupid to realize how AIDS is contracted and then stop doing that? How many people have died from incurable and unavoidable diseases because money was diverted into this pointless exercise in trying to save people from their own self-destructive stupidity?

After reading a little of this, I find myself thinking about historical things like Sodom and Gomorah, Fall of Rome orgies, and Hollywood back in the 60's. Though I suspect that the media is hiding the fact that Hollywood is still having these parties, and the media is turning a blind eye, or they are participating as well. As Solomon said, 'Nothing new under the sun,' for he had seen it all in his lifetime. I always got the impression Solomon was very depressed by that concept when he wrote it as well.

As I've gotten older, I've become more inclined to let people with self-destructive behaviors proceed without intervention. Why give druggies Narcan when they'll OD again in a day or so? Why force people into rehab when they relapse again and again? Both just seem to be a colossal waste of time, energy and money. Why should we want to save someone more than they want to save themselves?

I remember the gay bathhouses of San Francisco (and Chicago) of the early 1990s when HIV first appeared, and the homosexuals began organizing politically to demand that we do something about it. We needed to spend a lot more taxpayer money to fight this scourge of AIDS that was killing all those innocent homosexuals (though they insisted it was not a "gay" disease but could infect anyone. When you had a thoroughly corrupt governor such as clinton selling the infected blood of state prisoners, spreading it to the general population, it was certainly possible.) The politicizing of the AIDs epidemic was a disaster for medicine. We could not demand that people stop doing risky behaviors, we could not track the spread through different partners (it was a "privacy issue") and the only solution was to develop a cure. Typhoid Mary would have been appalled.

The House Oversight and Reform Committee stepped up its conflict of interest investigation into Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, demanding Monday that she turn over documents related to communications with her family’s shipping business. Democrats are probing whether Ms. Chao took action to benefit Foremost Group, a shipping company owned by her family. Since becoming transportation secretary in 2017, Ms. Chao has made public appearances with her father, who founded Foremost, and planned a trip to China with him to meet government officials. In that time, Foremost has received hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from a Chinese bank to build ships

The two contests, months in the making, were seen as referenda on whether the president could hold on to majorities in red states that propelled him to the Oval Office. Republican Greg Murphy won his Third Congressional District handily, holding on to a seat left vacant when Rep. Walter Jones died in February. The other race, a more hotly contested Ninth Congressional District battle, was a dead heat in the final pre-election polls.

Psychology is a "science" that studies human behavior but is itself morally bankrupt. That is, psychology is unable to scientifically define normality. It can't. "Normal" depends on what the society (through "norms") or the patient views as morally correct. This limitation of psychological study is apparent when addressing transgenderism, until recently labeled a mental illness ("gender dysphoria") by psychology. Modern textbooks on transgender (and other paraphilic) disorders observe that they arise from "adverse childhood experiences" (ACEs): "Any event sufficiently stressful to threaten a fragile ego" (Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, 8th edition, Mary C.
