From the first moment when he announced his intent to run for President of the United States in 2015, Donald Trump was very clear on one specific aspect to his view of why people would vote for him. As a candidate, he repeated it often: So the reporter said to me the other day, “But, Mr. Trump, you’re not a nice person. How can you get people to vote for you?” I said, “I don’t know.” I said, “I think that number one, I am a nice person. I give a lot of money away to charities and other things.

I think this really hits the nail on the head. I've said similar things to friends. I don't have to like Trump to think that he can do a good job for us.

FTA:
Specifically because President Trump works on optimal solutions toward the goal destination, his objective, the non-politician takes a different approach than would be expected from a typical politician. Ultimately this is how Trump is able to accomplish so much more in a similar amount of time; he’s not poll-testing the route.
Each big goal, each major objective, has a series of way-points. The process for reaching those way-points is independent and entirely based on the goal itself. Politicians look at this approach and think of it as inconsistent, because the travel is not subject to a specific map that is always followed.
Because President Trump’s search for ‘optimal travel’ is not based on a prior path – but based on each unique destination, the goal is more predictably reached. In many ways it is just common sense.
Competence in policy is not measured by endless planning, discussion and debate… it is measured by results. Achieving results requires action. Start the journey and head to the way-point; reach the initial objective – evaluate, and immediately measure the next way-point; repeat until you reach the destination.
As for not “liking” him, I do. He is a kind person. He is a decent person. He fights, but he fights back at those who would thwart the goals he has for us, the American people. The country he loves. Even his tweeting is done for a purpose, although some who don’t understand him and what it achieves cluck about it.
He is the first really competent chief executive we have ever had, and that includes Ronald Reagan. Too many either don’t know or have forgotten that Reagan’s Kitchen Cabinet directed him. Big businessmen. Chamber of Commerce types. President Trump is an original. And thank God, he is ours.

Trump is WAY smarter than 98% of the fools in DC, by miles. And in addition, and critically, he is NOT a politician, looking for politician's "results", which are various payoffs, payouts, power plays and other ridiculous stuff.
Trump is looking for real, measurable results, which help America, help Americans, help American companies. And HE DOES WHAT HE SAYS HE WILL DO.
I like that a LOT. Clearly the most capable president in at least a century, perhaps since the founding fathers handed over the reigns to the politicians.

Politicians KICK the can down the road. Donald Trump (much like Ronald Reagan) CARRIES the can down the road.

I highly recommend this article if for only the link to Donald Trumps announcement that he is running for President. I have saved that speech to my hard drive because somewhere before my 4 grandchildren get out of college, the study of government and civic responsibility will again be taught in our schools. Donald Trump drew a road map to that possibility in this speech. This wonderful, Trump-ish speech. I am smitten with his ability all over again.

Excellent article that shows a president focused on real world results, not political theater.
Trump correctly notes that bureaucratic poseurs are useless but that is what Washington is made up of.
THIS is what BO absolutely failed to understand because it was completely outside his experience. He could say "You didn't build that" because he had no conception of what it takes to make something. BO is a master poseur and he surrounded himself with other poseurs.
Trump, BO's polar opposite, is a MASTER builder/creator. He terrifies Washington because his competence is the antithesis of bureaucratic posturing where image is all that matters. To politicians, all that matters is to look good enough to get reelected. To Trump, image is a tool but not a goal. Trump perceives the great structural components of our Country and his GOAL is to strengthen them, often by removing government interference and LEAVING THEM ALONE. He also has a masterful understanding of how business actually functions and how it interplays with various governments. He works for true fairness with US interests being held primary. All countries should hold their own interests primary but with respect for the needs of others.
Trump terrifies Washington because they have NO idea how to do what he does, yet he understands their image game and manipulates them like children.
