The Department of Justice will not prosecute former FBI director James Comey after an internal probe of Comey’s handling of memos he kept of his interactions with President Donald Trump.
In a report released Thursday, the Office of the Inspector General said its probe found that Comey violated department policy.
"Upon completing its investigation, the OIG provided its factual findings to the Justice Department for a prosecutorial decision regarding Comey’s conduct, as required by the Inspector General Act. After reviewing the matter, the DOJ declined prosecution," the office said in a statement.

As was previously reported, analyzed and discussed, this matter was a “carve out” by Barr. Believed to be too small in the overall picture, and the possibility of a strong (logical) defense that could thwart his being convicted. Comey could argue that, as head of the FBI, he was concerned about the welfare of the country and a possible threat via a presidential connection to a foreign government. Etc., etc., etc. Comey is not off the hook on the big picture. He signed off as “verified” on the first FISA warrant application… Bigger issues, bigger fish to be caught.

Martha Stewart, Gen. Flynn, and on and on are wondering today how DOJ can decline prosecution of James Comey. We have a two tiered justice system. Ordinary citizens are prosecuted to the full extent but members of the deep state get away with everything. A very sad day in American Justice. It's apparent the Obama left a lot of deep state "lifers" in the Justice Dept. that will continue to cover the rear ends of their own people.

It is almost like they (deep State) are just prodding the patriots to a fight. Drip, Drip, Drip, until they get the right to protest in arms so they can say, see, we need to disarm this band of hooligans.

I guess 'department policies' in a department of injustice is one thing for the folks working there. They can break any and all laws all day long, they won't 'have to pay for it' as the rest of us would have to! Stupid me thought that Barr was finally putting someone into an orange jumpsuit. Lying whilst under oath, Comey, will send you us behind bars but not the overgrown dwarf. It appears there really is no justice, One for us 'little stupid's , another for the insiders!

Comey needs to be in prison. I hope that the FISA fraud crimes will be the ones to put him away.

Let me get this straight...If Comey had given the memos to a reporter he could have been considered a leaker and possibly been prosecuted. However, because he gave the memos to a friend / attorney who then gave them to a reporter he gets off? All who want to leak info now have a new method to be absolved of any responsibility for their illegal actions.

#9 So I guess this means that underlings of Barr can now feel free to give internal DOJ documents to their friends and lawyers to be distributed to the media.

Evidently when you work for the civil service not only do you get great wages and benefits but immunity from prosecution for your lawless actions.

Of course there's no evidence he leaked the docs to the media. He leaked them to that professor who leaked them. Questions: Did the professor have a high enough security clearance to have the docs? Did he have "a need to know?"

Did you really expect anything different. It appears that the only thing that will bring us back to a just representative government will be the second American Revolution.

Too bad Gilda Radner is no longer with us. She could reprise her Emily Littela role from when SNL was funny and say , "never mind."

The so-called “Deep State” career DC based administrative government does not criminally prosecute high level super bureaucratic members of the “Deep State”. That’s why Comey and others took the political chances that they did to try to keep the “Big Government” Democrats in political power, by ousting the “Outsider” Donald Trump. You don’t get to be Director of the FBI without illustrating that you clearly recognize that fact.
We will see if that non-prosecution fact rules the roost when the main criminal and IJ/DOJ reports are concluded. I would not bet against no prosecutions following those investigations. If that happens Trump should pardon all the “smurfs” that the “Deep State” has persecuted in relation to their phony “Trump colluded with the Russians” investigations.

Do people still say Barr is ethical? Not Me! The DC crowd sticks together! I said when this first started they wouldn't touch anyone in the corrupt JD. I thought Barr was going to bring back the integrity to the JD.

People who are jerking their knees furiously over this one need to realize that this is the warm up act to the huge FISA show coming up. Comey will not escape so easily on that problem since he signed off on one of the first ones as being legit. We need to remember that Trump and Barr need to have airtight cases against all these people before they move on them. They get one shot to prosecute. It is hard to be patient, but the year isn't over yet.

Is Comey still receiving taxpayer income even though he was fired? Did he get a severance? I used to attend a church where one of the assistant pastors got "sat down" for six months because he cheated on his wife. He received full pay for the six months, but he wasn't allowed to work during that time (not even cleaning the church, which would have at least been some type of punishment). I left that church shortly thereafter. Discovered shortly after that the pastor was sleeping with his secretary. Then the pastor's wife gained more power as a co-pastor. When you discover a bit of corruption, just know the corruption goes far deeper than you think.

WHO EXACTLY DECLINED TO PROSECUTE? Does anyone think for one minute had the shoe been on the other foot that the identity of the "failed to prosecute" person would not be revealed in big bold letters on the front page of the NYT.
