First, it was the #AmazonCoat. Then it was the #AmazonLeggings, followed by the #AmazonBathingSuit. Now the #AmazonNightgown — a billowy, boho dress that retails for under $30 — has taken Instagram and New York City by storm.“The name cracks me up, but I am a huge fan,” said 28-year-old Katie Kennedy, who bought the light-blue version a few weeks ago.“I wear it weekly,” added the Upper East Sider. “On Friday, I showed it to the vice president of marketing at the firm I’m interning for this summer, and she bought four on the spot.”

My grandmother would have called that a 'house dress'. Or a night gown. So this is a new thing in NYC? Y'all need to get out to Walmart more often!

???? This is news?
I agree with #1, housedress is what my mother would have called it, and not gone out in public in it.

If Melania Trump would wear one, those Upper East /West Siders would turn their noses up faster than if this were off the sales rack at Walmart. Depending on the print it looks nice, but some look quite matronly.

Gosh -- have reporters nothing better to do than boost a really dull, overpriced dress-garment-thing?

House dress, or something found at Woodstock. What once was old is "new" again. The people in NYC need to get out more.

My goodness. Retro, indeed. This is not a nightgown, but a rerun from the hippie era. Most were made in India of fabrics that shrunk and ran like mad, but were v. comfortable if one could fine the right size. I saw one the other day on a tiny Hispanic (?) girl. It was almost floor length and the top fit her fine because she had almost no bust. The fabric was obviously a blend of something. Had to have something like rayon as it was soft and drapey.
Best bought at a place like Cost Plus where you can see what you are getting.. The reviews indicate a number of disappointed customers...

This would be just the item for PIAPS. Very presidential.

Definitely flashbacks of the Summer of Love, the Doors, Highway 1 and Big Sur, VW buses, etc. Maybe an ugly era, but some beautiful memories for me. Thanks, "$30 Amazon Nightgown".

One more big step towards the burka. Amazon should bet ready with matching hijabs.

Well, this month is the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, after all. A good marketing company can dupe people into buying almost anything - example #1 “Chocolate” diamonds which are really just brown diamonds which used to be good for only industrial purposes. Calling them “Chocolate” made them desirable for some reason.

Apparently some New Yorkers are ignorant and easily amused, and discover things we have known about forever. What's funny is that they are willing to pay so much for such a garment. Suckers. And they think we are ignorant and a bunch of hicks...

I think it’s quite pretty and an appropriate summer casual dress—I’d call it ‘bo-ho’ as in Bohemian. The print and neckline detail keep it from being a ‘housecoat’ like grandma used to wear. I’d totally wear it.

This dress was part of the fashions of the hippie era in the 60's. Still looks ridiculous.

I agree with The Warden. Not our mothers’ housecoat. My late Mother didn’t wear one. She wore proper cotton housedresses, very nice ones. But it does look cool and comfortable. I would wear them now with sandals on a hot day, after a shower...
When I was a young manager at I. Magnin decades ago, a woman who lived in Samoa came once a year to stock up on clothes. She bought things like that (never whites - they showed through) because they covered the fact that she would wear them without hot sticky undergarments in the Samoan climate… The prices were significantly higher; the quality, as well.

It looks comfortable for lounging around in the privacy of your home. I wouldn't want anyone seeing me in it though. It does appear to be an intimate garment.

I remember these from the late sixties and early seventies. Here in the mid-west they were worn with platform sandals in the summer and boots and a turtleneck in the fall. Probably sounds awful, but some of them were quite pretty.

I am reminded of the admonition to young men about not letting a $30 sun dress become a $300k child support payment.

Amazon has some cute, frumpy, run to the grocers dresses that are cheaply made and priced (I have several), but this one--not impressed. Maybe I'm not impressed because darn Yankies like it.

I remember in the third grade (1970s) some girls being sent home to change when they came to school in an outfit like that. I have no idea why but that sticks in my mind.

I'm with #15....very cute! I suspect these would be perfect for hot, humid eastern summers. Most of the girls look very pretty....apparently the larger sizes aren't quite as flattering. I love the prints; I'd wear one, too! So much better than seeing all young women today falling out of their clothes through every opening!

That was never a house dress. Hippy dippy's from the 60's. Probably Cost Plus/World Market.
